Elon Musk has contributed $100 million to build a STEM-focused K-12 school in Austin, Texas, through his charity called The Foundation. Once the K-12 school is established and operating, the long-term plan is to expand it into a university. The university aims to have experienced faculty and a traditional curriculum combined with hands-on learning through projects, simulations, and labs. It will seek accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Elon Musk's move to open a school comes as he has expanded his business interests in Texas with Tesla's headquarters relocating to Austin and SpaceX having a facility in the state.
