00:00 We're entering week 15. Is there an NFL defense that has surprised you?
00:05 My answer is going to surprise you because how can I be surprised by the great play of a unit on a team that's 3-10?
00:11 Tell me.
00:12 The Patriots.
00:13 Oh.
00:14 Hear me out.
00:15 We have not talked about their defense.
00:16 This is going to take a minute because people are going, "Get out of here. This guy's crazy."
00:21 The Patriots lost their best pass rusher in Matthew Judon
00:25 and their best cornerback, rookie of the month in September, Christian Gonzalez, in the same game.
00:30 A 38-3 loss to the Cowboys where people just wrote off the Patriots.
00:35 But Bill Belichick, for all his faults, and he's got a lot. We could do a whole video on Bill Belichick.
00:40 But he still is a defensive guru. He's a mastermind.
00:45 And the Patriots 3-10 is a direct relation to their historically horrible offense that can't score.
00:52 It's Mack Jones. It's Bailey Zappi. It's no weapons, blah, blah, blah.
00:56 But the defense, without their two best players, has not allowed 20 points in five games.
01:01 And they've lost a game. Imagine if you're the defensive coordinator.
01:04 They've lost games allowing 10, 10, and 6 points.
01:08 What more can you do?
01:10 And I just think they deserve, and Belichick deserves a shout-out for what he's done defensively,
01:16 because it'll totally get lost in this season.
01:18 This is the worst Patriots season in 30 years. It's one of Belichick's best defensive coaching jobs.
01:23 That's a good point, and I'm sure a point that Bill Belichick is making.
01:26 I bet he'll smile and reach out to me and be so happy.
01:30 No, I think he's probably making that point as he looks forward into his coaching job there in New England.
01:36 As though he needs another bullet point in his resume.
01:38 I was a good defensive coordinator when we were 3-13.
01:41 Yep, it is one, though.
