A federal judge in Washington D.C. paused Donald Trump's election interference case while Trump appeals a previous ruling that rejected his claim of absolute immunity from prosecution as a former president. Judge Tanya Chutkan said the pending appeal "automatically stays any further proceedings that would move this case towards trial," which could delay Trump's scheduled March 2024 trial date. Trump has pled not guilty to conspiring to overturn his 2020 election loss to Joe Biden.
