00:02 - Hi, I'm Maddie Burns, a senior defender
00:12 on the University of Michigan Women's Lacrosse Team.
00:14 I'm from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,
00:16 and I wear number 13 on the field.
00:18 I chose Michigan because by coming here,
00:22 I'll be set up for the rest of my life
00:24 with such a huge alumni network,
00:26 and since I'll be stopping my sport after graduation,
00:29 I wanted something that I could use for the rest of my life.
00:32 Michigan vs. Everybody means that
00:36 there's always a target on our back,
00:38 being such an amazing institution,
00:40 and stepping up to the challenge every day.
00:42 With that target on our back, you know,
00:43 you have to play to a certain standard every game,
00:46 so just giving it our all,
00:47 and making sure we always get the win at the end of the day.
00:50 What drives me to be the best I can be
00:54 is definitely my amazing teammates.
00:56 On the lacrosse team, we have 37 girls,
00:59 and truly every day you look around
01:01 and are just motivated by how hard
01:02 your teammates are working,
01:03 and it pushes you to work for them.
01:05 Yeah, NIL has given me the opportunity
01:11 to explore new endeavors that I didn't think
01:14 would be possible with my lacrosse career here.
01:17 I was able to find new interests
01:18 in certain niche industries
01:19 that I wouldn't have had the confidence to explore,
01:21 but having the resources here at Michigan,
01:24 and looking towards the future with those growing,
01:26 any student athlete is gonna be set up
01:28 to find new interests beyond their sport.
