00:00 The Social Security System is urging retirees to use the pension loan program.

00:07 It is said that it is to avoid some forms of debt like the SANGLA ATM.

00:16 Whenever the pension received is sufficient,

00:22 some retirees are forced to borrow.

00:25 They are also using collateral ATM cards to enter the pension.

00:31 There is no law that prohibits the SANGLA ATM in the country.

00:35 But according to the Central Bank of the Philippines,

00:38 it could cause problems

00:40 because the cardholders cannot guard the withdrawal of money using their ATM card.

00:47 There could be a delay and withdraw more than the amount of money borrowed.

00:51 To avoid the SANGLA ATM, the SSS is urging its retiree pensioners

00:57 to use the pension loan program or PLP.

01:01 The 10% interest on the PLP is lower than what other borrowers are asking for.

01:08 Qualified retiree pensioners can borrow a total of 12 months of their pension

01:15 or a maximum loan of Php 200,000.

01:18 The SSS will also ensure that they can still get a 47.25% monthly pension while paying the loan.

01:28 To apply for the loan,

01:30 a 85-year-old retiree pensioner should be able to finish paying the PLP.

01:36 The pension status should be active,

01:38 no other loan is being paid,

01:40 and the pension is not advanced under the SSS Calamity Assistance Package.

01:45 The pensioner's address and mobile number should also be updated.

01:49 They can apply to the nearest branch of the SSS

01:53 or through their My.SSS account.
