00:00 Give it a good 90 yard shot.
00:02 You can almost hit that full.
00:03 Since the game began, they've been there.
00:11 Always seen, but rarely heard.
00:14 From humble beginnings to the big time,
00:17 they don't just whisper advice from the shadows.
00:20 They are an integral part of the game.
00:22 Caddy used to be the guy who worked in the barn or worked in the kitchen.
00:27 They weren't very well thought of.
00:28 They just carried the bag and that's all they did.
00:31 An 18 hole round, we call that a loop.
00:33 So we call ourselves the loopers.
00:35 When I first started, I got $3 a bag.
00:37 And then they bumped it to $4.
00:39 The money got out of control.
00:40 It almost got away from me.
00:42 We were not allowed in the clubhouse.
00:46 We were in the caddy pen.
00:47 That's where you better stay.
00:48 Boy, you stay in the caddy pen.
00:49 You could lose money and you did lose money a lot of weeks.
00:52 But we did it back then for the love of the game.
00:57 You're really involved in million dollar decisions.
01:00 Tiger just doubled everything.
01:04 Doubled the crowds, doubled the money,
01:06 and consequently doubled the money for caddies.
01:08 I turned the night and cut sides off right back in there.
01:13 Again, you have the picket coming hot.
01:15 Major championships are really hard on caddies.
01:18 That whole conversation and that shot.
01:21 And the caddy player hall of fame.
01:24 Meet the personalities, their achievements.
01:27 And even some inspirational stories
01:29 of golf's unsung heroes.
01:31 I'd like to thank my caddy, Michael,
01:33 for keeping me in it today.
01:35 You deserve all the credit in the world
01:36 for this championship.
01:38 My biggest role as a math teacher
01:41 was getting kids to believe in themselves.
01:43 And it's the same thing, you know,
01:44 caddy on the PGA Tour.
01:46 He made me a part of his game.
01:48 I feel like I've won too.
01:49 It's the satisfaction of seeing somebody
01:53 do something that's very, very hard.
01:55 That's a true caddy.
01:57 I wouldn't trade it for nothing.
01:59 (upbeat music)
02:02 (upbeat music)
02:05 (whooshing)
