00:00 When vinyl was the only format, the record came out, and it sounded like what it sounded
00:06 like.
00:07 What I would say of vinyl is you get this great moment in time that the artist wanted
00:10 to present to you.
00:11 All ages, any age, loves the feeling of coming to a record store, browsing through the records.
00:17 And then you get up and you flip the record.
00:19 It's kind of like a little intermission, and you listen to it like the artist intended.
00:23 Everything you watch on television, there's always a record player.
00:26 Like when vinyl was coming back, I could tell because all of a sudden you would see it in
00:30 TV shows and in commercials.
00:32 Boom!
00:33 You drop down the records, you just won.
00:38 Vinyl records have been stimulating listeners and collectors since the 1800s.
00:42 How did this sexy little piece of plastic come to be, and how has it evolved over the
00:47 ages?
00:48 No one really cared about CDs.
00:49 CDs were cool because you could put a bunch in an envelope and take them in your car and
00:53 they were portable.
00:54 But there was nothing sexy about them.
00:56 No one's excited about the 3,000 CDs they have on a rack in their living room.
01:00 No one cares about that.
01:01 Of course the sound was better because of course it was better.
01:05 Dudes come in with gray hair and they go, "You're playing that on vinyl?"
01:08 I used to have that record.
01:09 People who like to tell you that they used to have that record.
01:12 I hate to call it a resurgence because for me it never went away.
01:15 It never went away.
01:16 That's the first thing.
01:17 It never actually went away.
01:18 A record's something that sits around forever.
01:20 It's the last tangible product that's going to make any sense.
01:24 We've talked to the fans, the collectors and the experts, and we're not convinced that
01:28 our beloved vinyl will be going anywhere anytime soon.
01:31 Sit back and relax.
01:33 We're about to take you for a spin.
