Signs of diabetes on the skin

Diabetes can sometimes manifest in unexpected ways, and your skin is one of the places where it can show signs. While not everyone with diabetes will experience skin changes, it's important to be aware of the possibilities so you can seek medical attention if needed.
Acanthosis nigricans: This condition causes darkened, velvety patches of skin to form in body folds and creases, such as the armpits, groin, and neck.
Diabetic dermopathy: These are small, round, waxy-looking brown patches that often appear on the shins.

Necrobiosis lipoidica diabeticorum: This condition causes reddish-brown, hardened bumps to form, most commonly on the shins and calves.

Diabetic blisters: These fluid-filled blisters can form anywhere on the body, but they're most common on the hands, feet, and lower legs.
