Whitstable traders hit out at proposed parking charges
Transcript
00:00 I feel that they're going to be outpricing people, that people won't come.
00:04 And it's not just the tourism, it's also people that live locally but don't necessarily live near enough to the town to warrant to be able to walk in.
00:11 There's other ways that the council can possibly get money in or spend less without having to come from the shoppers, from the retailers.
00:19 I think it will have a huge impact on business.
00:21 I won't survive. None of us will survive.
00:24 Because we're not here just to look nice in the week and for visitors to have two hours only.
00:31 Which when you're sitting down meeting people, that's either two hours on the beach or two hours in a restaurant.
00:36 And also people don't want to walk around a place that is not catering for them.
00:43 They know when they're being fleeced and ripped off and they think Whitstable is doing it and we're not doing it, Canterbury's doing it.
