Our reporter Michael Plant gives the latest from Carrington ahead of Manchester United's Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.
Transcript
00:00 I'm in Carrington where this afternoon Manchester United have held a pre-match press conference
00:04 and training session ahead of tomorrow's Champions League game against Bayern Munich.
00:07 Of course a game United have to win if they are going to be able to progress to the next
00:11 round of the competition.
00:12 They need to hope for a victory and that the other game in the group, Galatasaray against
00:16 Copenhagen in Denmark ends as a draw.
00:19 So it's a tall order really for United but they will be I suppose buoyed by the fact
00:23 that Bayern Munich had a really disappointing result at the weekend and travel here knowing
00:27 that they have already secured top spot in the group and potentially may look to rest
00:30 one or two players and might not just have their usual level of focus.
00:34 Ten Hag, he referenced previous wins today in his press conference as a sign that United
00:40 are capable of getting a valuable three points.
00:43 He pointed in particular to that Chelsea game last week where United certainly from an offensive
00:46 sense were brilliant in terms of going forward and he pointed to I suppose the other Bayern
00:51 Munich game in the Champions League where United competed with the German champions
00:55 for 90 minutes certainly in terms of the scoreline anyway and very close.
00:59 He really is, he talked about not even considering what happens if United don't finish second
01:03 in the group.
01:04 He's not even thinking in any way negatively whatsoever.
01:07 He certainly has belief in the team.
01:09 So does Scott McTominay and he made an interesting comment actually ahead of the game talking
01:13 about admitting that previous squads have had a level of toxicity around them and saying
01:18 that that is not the case in this squad and that they are very much still fighting for
01:21 their manager Eric Ten Hag.
01:23 Now then we moved outside across to the training pitch just over there and United were conducting
01:30 their session just in front of us.
01:31 We've got a fantastic view right up in front of us.
01:33 Check out Manchester World's social feed for a few of those videos.
01:36 But interestingly not involved there were Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
01:39 Both players ill and weren't involved and are therefore doubts for tomorrow's game.
01:44 Viktor Lindelof was involved even though Eric Ten Hag admitted in his pre-match press conference
01:47 that he wasn't sure if the Swedish defender was going to be involved.
01:50 So interesting in that regard but United certainly with an uphill task in tomorrow night's game.
01:55 They will be disappointed with the result against Bournemouth at the weekend.
01:58 They'll want to bounce back immediately and that would be a perfect way to do it if they
02:02 can get an important victory against Bayern Munich.
