Transcript
00:00 The local government of Quezon City is doubly careful with its residents in the face of the rise of COVID-19 cases in the city.
00:09 The question now is, is it possible for the LGU to implement the mandatory wearing of face masks?
00:16 Find out in the center of the news of Joshua Garcia.
00:20 Most people in Quezon City are in favor of the mandatory wearing of face masks.
00:27 The red alert status was also raised because of the continuous rise of COVID-19 cases in the city over the past few weeks.
00:34 It's for my safety and the health of the people.
00:37 It's not a hassle.
00:38 I'm not wearing a face mask.
00:40 It's possible to wear a face mask to avoid the increase of COVID-19.
00:46 According to Dr. Rolando Cruz, chief of the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit or CESU,
00:51 based on their latest data, although there is a partial increase in the daily cases of COVID-19,
00:56 the increase is not slow compared to the past few weeks.
01:00 The increase is just a little compared to last week.
01:03 Our daily case is now at 28.
01:05 At least, it's just 15 percent higher compared to the previous week.
01:09 So the increase is slow.
01:11 Meanwhile, the LGU is still urging the QC citizens,
01:16 particularly those with comorbidities,
01:18 not to be complacent, especially since the number of COVID-19 cases,
01:21 along with social gatherings, is increasing.
01:25 So that we won't be complacent during the Christmas season,
01:30 we should learn to be careful and that COVID-19 is still here.
01:33 We should be smart and wear face masks during our parties.
01:39 We should avoid places that are enclosed and we should stay in open areas.
01:43 Meanwhile, Cruz clarified that they don't see a possibility of implementing the mandatory wearing of face masks in the city
01:49 based on their latest data.
01:52 We may not be able to return to wearing face masks.
01:56 Our strategy now is to be smart on our own.
02:02 We should learn to take care of ourselves.
02:06 Joshua Garcia, Parasabaya.
