Life in Gaza: Crossing through

Majd Shaheen (23) is a third-year student at the Marine Academy, Cairo. In 2013, he went to Gaza to see his family during the summer holidays. But when he tried to leave Gaza to resume his studies, things went badly wrong. Despite following all the normal procedures for using the Rafah crossing into Egypt, he is still stuck in Gaza, having been refused permission to cross on six separate occasions. As a result, he has so far missed two semesters at university.
