Detroit Lions Week 14 NFL preview against Chicago Bears.
Transcript
00:00 John, who do you got in week 14, the Bears or the Lions, and why?
00:04 Yeah, Vito, this contest has the potential to be very interesting between the Lions and the Bears.
00:10 Obviously the Bears are going to want a semblance of revenge after the Lions were able to be victorious at Ford Field.
00:16 The elements this week are going to come into play.
00:19 Potential snow, flurries, all being talked about in all these weather reports in Chicago.
00:26 That could make things very dicey for Jared Goff.
00:29 Obviously the run game would be very sentinel in this kind of game if the elements come into play.
00:34 You don't want Jared Goff throwing the ball in winds of over 15 miles per hour.
00:39 That ups the chances of turnover.
00:41 So I think the key this week for the Lions is David Montgomery and Jameer Gibbs.
00:46 They need to definitely shoulder the load this week.
00:49 Definitely going to be interesting to see how much Frank Ragnall practices.
00:53 There's an opportunity, I think, for Graham Glasgow and Colby Soerstadl to step in.
00:58 I think Glasgow will play center.
01:00 And if Frank Ragnall misses this contest, it'll be, again, probably Colby Soerstadl at right guard as Glasgow shifts over.
01:08 But it'll be interesting to see how effective the Lions' running game is.
01:11 You have to in a game like this, number one target is Justin Fields.
01:16 If you can't stop a mobile quarterback, you have no shot.
01:19 I think that on the road, the Lions have to really defensively have to step up along the defensive line.
01:25 Obviously, the injury to Ali McNeil is going to be critical.
01:28 Who steps in has to step up and be able to pressure the quarterback, stop the run,
01:32 and be able to on key third downs help this football team get off the field.
01:36 It's going to be a tough game, Vito.
01:38 This one really, I think, could be the Lions' toughest challenge this year as you have a motivated Chicago Bears team.
01:43 But in the end, the Lions are more talented offensively than the Bears.
01:47 So if they're able to limit the mistakes, run the football, if Jared Goff can find his targets,
01:51 and Amun Ra St. Brown, Jamison Williams, and Sam Laporta,
01:55 I see the opportunity for the Lions to earn their 10th victory.
01:57 But it's going to be one of their toughest games of the year.
02:00 Battling the elements and a motivated Bears team, this game probably is going to be one of the closest division games that the Lions will play this year.
02:08 Limit Justin Fields and you win the game as easy as that, even on the road at Soldier Field on Sunday, John.
02:13 Thanks for all the time.
