00:00 This year was...
00:02 This year was probably the biggest year of my life.
00:06 Just pure wow.
00:11 I've been a single mom for, well, he's 20, so 18 years.
00:16 And to wake up one day and see a U-Haul truck pulling away,
00:22 at first I was very secretly happy.
00:25 But watching the U-Haul pull away was also a moment for me to realize,
00:31 this is a time for me to now not be that single mom.
00:34 It's time for me to be me.
00:37 I've always been a family person, and I have a big, big, big family that I love so much.
00:42 And I decided to leave them behind and move to a different city altogether,
00:50 all for this one girl.
00:52 She's been everything I could ask for and more.
00:54 And I'm so grateful and blessed to have her in my life.
00:57 I want to talk to him and share things with him,
00:59 but I also don't want to drive him away.
01:01 This is his time in his life for him to discover some things
01:05 that I might have discovered at his age also.
01:08 When I told my mom that I met a girl,
01:11 the first thing she said is like, "Oh, that's amazing.
01:15 You should move there."
01:17 First of all, she never met this girl,
01:18 but I think she saw something in my eyes
01:22 that was different from any other girl in the past,
01:24 and she knew how real it was,
01:27 and she was okay with me leaving.
01:32 She encouraged it.
01:34 If I could give myself advice at the beginning of the year,
01:38 oh, I would tell myself to chill and breathe.
01:43 Please, chill, breathe, and trust more.
01:49 It's going to be okay.
01:51 You don't know it yet, but it's going to be okay.
01:55 It's really going to be okay.
01:57 That's what I wish I had told myself
01:58 at the beginning of the year, that it's really going to be okay.
02:02 It's just sometimes it's hard to know that,
02:05 and again, I'm grateful for girlfriends and friends
02:08 and family that would remind me,
02:10 you know all the right things to do,
02:14 and you're doing them, and I'm proud of you.
02:17 Shortly after moving away, my girlfriend and I found out
02:20 that we were expecting a baby boy together.
02:23 Learning that I was going to be a father,
02:27 it filled me with a new sense of responsibility,
02:30 a new outlook, a new perspective.
02:34 It made me think that I was capable of so much more
02:38 in terms of my personal growth,
02:40 but also the love that I have for my partner
02:43 and the love that I have for my child-to-be.
02:47 I didn't think I was capable of all this,
02:49 and I am.
02:51 The series showed me that I am.
02:53 In the further future,
02:54 I'm hopefully watching some grandkids,
02:56 being close to my family, having friends around me,
03:00 not being so stressed and anxious,
03:03 and I'm there for all that, and I'm present for all that.
03:06 I want to remember next year
03:08 as a year filled with unconditional love.
03:13 I can't wait to see my son's face
03:16 and hear him and hold him.
03:21 I dream about him all the time,
03:24 and I can't wait to see him.
03:27 I think he's going to change my life,
03:30 my life for the better,
03:31 and he's going to continue to push me
03:35 to be a better man and a better partner.
03:40 Yeah.
03:46 Some of the decisions and some of the actions I'll take now
03:49 will definitely be worthy of telling grandkids
03:53 in the future, you know, that this girl can still rock it.
03:57 It's breathtaking to think about
03:59 how much one person can change you
04:01 and one year can change you.
