00:00 I'm Laurie Blake, welcome to the WrestleTalk News, on Fridays we wear pink.
00:11 Our top story involves comeuppance!
00:15 Contract comeuppance, in which contracts come up.
00:17 Because you know, wrestling contracts are usually guarded with the same sort of secrecy
00:20 as taking a contract out on somebody's life.
00:23 For some reason they just don't want anyone to know who signed the thing.
00:26 And in the case of wrestling, maybe that's because the second it's known somebody's
00:30 contract is about to expire, the old rumour mill goes into overdrive about whether they
00:34 will stay or whether they will go.
00:37 Well you might as well call me Windy Bloody Miller, because I'm about to add some grain
00:42 to this grindstone and now talk about Andrade potentially leaving AEW.
00:47 El Idolo joined AEW back in June 2021 after leaving WWE in March that same year and has
00:52 had a buggy road in AEW and now it's rumoured that his contract is coming up soon and he
00:58 may well be departing the company for pastures new, or pastures old, the grass he's already
01:04 ate at WWE.
01:06 But this is all a cue that we've taken from him returning to perform for CMLL in the near
01:11 future.
01:12 CMLL, CMLL, it's hard to say CMML.
01:16 On Wrestling Observer Radio Dave Meltzer laid it all out, he said he's going back to CMLL,
01:21 not sure exactly what week but probably relatively soon.
01:25 On Friday night's Arena Mexico show they did a tease of him going back, he had talked
01:29 to AAA about going back there and decided to go to CMLL.
01:33 Now under Andrade's current AEW contract he would be able to work for CMLL anyhow.
01:38 But according to Meltzer, even though CMLL's drawing big crowds, there's no real money
01:42 being paid by them.
01:44 And Andrade actually charges a lot for his appearances in Mexico, so I think it's just
01:49 something he wants to do.
01:51 And the reason Andrade apparently wants to go back to CMLL now is because if he should
01:57 sign with WWE when his deal comes up, there will be no working with CMLL.
02:02 Meltzer added he thinks his deal is up pretty soon so he wanted to go back to CMLL in case
02:06 he ends up going to WWE.
02:08 He's not made a decision on what he's doing next, he's not signed a new deal, but if
02:13 he does go back to WWE he knows he can't go back to Arena Mexico.
02:18 Bryan Alvarez later confidently added that this guy wants to go back to WWE and his wife.
02:24 As you likely know by now Andrade would not be the only high profile defector from AEW,
02:28 we of course have Cody Rhodes finish the damn story, CM Punk, even though he was pushed
02:34 before he could jump and much more recently we've got QT Marshall.
02:39 Marshall in AEW was interesting because he worked multiple backstage roles at the company
02:42 alongside being a performer and on screen manager, and announced his resignation from
02:48 the company recently citing changes in the overall direction as the main reason.
02:53 That direction not being putting QT Marshall in the ring.
02:57 Now SE Scoops have been doing some digging and they learned even more details about Marshall's
03:01 final months in AEW, most notably that he tried to resign in August when his deal was
03:06 due to come up in early December because he wanted to pursue an in-ring career and not
03:11 be stuck as either a manager or coach.
03:14 He then signed an extension with AEW that would carry him through to January 2024 on
03:19 the premise that he would get more in-ring and TV time, though that didn't materialise.
03:26 Now Marshall has been doing a lot of work with AAA recently and is their Latin American
03:30 Champion working under Konnan, who is obviously well known for keeping his mouth shut, and
03:34 obviously spilled a whole bunch of beans on his K-100 podcast saying "I know for a fact
03:39 that this has been building up.
03:40 He gets paid very well, but he was very frustrated because he does a lot of stuff and Tony Khan
03:46 is the type of guy who changes his mind last minute.
03:50 He only listens to the top guys, which some of them don't have the best interests of the
03:57 company at heart."
03:59 He says on behalf of a man who was leaving a well-paid job because he wasn't getting
04:02 enough TV time.
04:07 Right, it's Survival Series next week.
04:18 I know I can win, but only if Tempest doesn't ask me anything about the last couple of years
04:22 of the AEW vs WWE rivalry.
04:24 I don't know anything about that, and I especially don't know anything about Triple H's new WWE
04:29 role, CM Punk joining and leaving AEW, or AEW collision.
04:41 How am I supposed to prepare for tables, lists and chairs when there's so much else going
04:45 on in the world?
04:46 WWE's legal battles, mergers, CM Punk joining AEW, Tony Khan's struggles to control his
04:53 company and so much more.
04:54 If only someone had written all this information down somewhere so I don't have to think about
04:58 it all the time.
05:21 WrestleTalk's brand new book, WWE vs AEW The Fallout, offers a front row seat to the
05:26 ceaseless drama, the pulse-pounding excitement and the monumental shifts that have unfolded
05:31 in the war between WWE and AEW over the past 18 months.
05:36 Picking up where WWE vs AEW The New War left off, this anthology of articles from the pages
05:42 of the WrestleTalk Magazine gives you fresh insights and perspective into the battle between
05:47 the two companies that you simply cannot get anywhere else.
05:50 It's the ultimate collector's item for those who want to remember this unprecedented
05:55 time in wrestling history.

06:10 Speaking of talent frustration, the primary way many of AEW's disgruntled guys and gals
06:14 have been making said displeasure known to the public has been on their social media,
06:19 pesky plague of the modern era that it is.
06:22 If you saw our news video yesterday you would know that the word on the street from Fightful
06:26 Sean Ross Sapp is that AEW's disciplinary committee has been dealing out fines to talent
06:31 who air their grievances online.
06:33 You get a fine, you get a fine, you get a fine.
06:36 And most interestingly of all, those fines have been dished out by none other than the
06:40 Blackpool Combat Club's very own Bryan Danielson.
06:44 Yes it seems as if Danielson has turned his disciplinary efforts away from bullying Paul
06:48 Wheeler-Utah and onto the rest of the AEW roster who may have a bone to pick with the
06:53 company.
06:54 This now follows on from Danielson's reported role in the AEW firing of one CM Punk back
06:59 in September following that backstage altercation with Jack Perry at All In in London.
07:04 Turns out D-Bry, or I guess Bry, D-Isn't messing around.
07:09 Talking on Fightful's The Hump, SRS said that at least one or two people have been
07:14 fined by him.
07:16 However it seems as if there are some conflicting reports on just how involved Danielson is
07:20 in this process.
07:21 Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said that while Danielson is on the
07:25 disciplinary committee, he is not the guy doing the fining.
07:30 Adding to the confusion, Bryan Alvarez noted that he did in fact ask around regarding social
07:34 media conduct fines, but curiously those he spoke to don't seem to have heard of that.
07:39 So all the contradictory reports leave us unsure as to what the actual crack is with
07:42 the whole situation.
07:43 However, it appears that one AEW star may have just implied that he has now been the
07:48 latest target of the AEW disciplinary committee.
07:51 The more I say AEW disciplinary committee, the more I want it to become a new faction.
07:55 BCC is old news, we want corporate Bryan.
07:58 Yesterday Mike Santana tweeted a reminder of how long it had been since he was last
08:02 featured on AEW TV, posting "6 weeks" along with a yawning emoji.
08:08 Apparently this tweet was then deleted with Santana later tweeting "FINED ME?"
08:13 Yeah, okay.
08:15 While this was seen by many as an implication that Santana's previously deleted tweet
08:18 had perhaps led to a fine, it could also just be Santana having fun with the entire situation.
08:24 Which seems more likely based on an exchange with SRS in the comments, with Shawn asking
08:28 "LMAO did everyone assume it was you?" and Santana replying "I guess".
08:34 Either way, it seemed as if the reaction to the situation, which I can report featured
08:37 a lot of Danielson memes, had at least provided Santana with some entertainment as he tweeted
08:43 "Thanks for the entertainment while I soak up my beautiful island."
08:47 Moving on now and despite all the talk of AEW's woes behind the scenes, one thing
08:52 the product does have going for it is undoubtedly the Devil storyline.
08:56 While it remains to be seen whether the anticipation of the grand reveal will be met or not, which
09:01 it most certainly won't if it turns out to be Jack Perry, fans are at least having
09:05 fun speculating on who it could be under the masks.
09:10 One of the prevailing theories on the masked man's identity is that someone either not
09:14 currently contracted with AEW a la Mustafa Ali or someone currently injured like Adam
09:19 Cole could be involved.
09:23 While that all remains to be seen, it was previously reported by Fightful last month
09:26 that those currently under the mask are in fact the people who will likely be revealed
09:30 to be involved later down the line.
09:33 And in a new update on Fightful Select this point was reiterated further saying that as
09:37 of last week the talent under the Devil masks are still set to be played by those currently
09:43 under them.
09:44 So with that said, discounting injured and recently released WWE talent, who do you feel
09:47 is logically under the masks?
09:49 Let us know in the comments down below.
09:51 So if that report rings true then one name we can rule out as being involved is Dolph
09:56 Ziggler who is now finally set to be at the end of his 90 day non-compete course following
10:01 his WWE release on September 21st.
10:04 They released Dolph Ziggler, what a weird year it's been.
10:07 Unlike some of the other released names, the future of Ziggler post WWE has always been
10:11 a bit more up in the air.
10:13 Because while his legacy and ability undoubtedly make him an appealing signing for any promotion,
10:18 the show-off may wish to instead turn his attention away from wrestling and onto his
10:22 stand-up comedy career.
10:24 And while that still may prove to be the case, at the very least it seems as if the Ziggs
10:27 is not totally down with the wrestling biz just yet as he's now been booked for his
10:32 first post-WWE wrestling gig.
10:34 As announced in a press release for MCW Pro Wrestling's MCW Fan Jam and MCW Anniversary
10:40 on February 4th, 2024, Ziggler was announced to appear alongside fellow former WWE stars
10:45 Matt Riddle, James Ellsworth and The Blue Meanie among others.
10:50 While it was confirmed that Riddle would be competing in a match, the same was not confirmed
10:53 for Ziggler, so we'll have to wait if that proves to be Dolph's first non-WWE match
10:57 in two decades.
11:00 Because of course one other potential home for Ziggler could be Impact Wrestling, or
11:04 as they would now like to be known, TNA.
11:08 While TNA has seen potential landmark signings for their rebrands such as Will Ospreay and
11:12 CM Punk slip through the net choosing AEW and WWE respectively, many are anticipating
11:17 a big splash for the promotion in 2024.
11:21 However it seems as if their optimism may be slightly dashed by the news that former
11:24 Knockouts Champion Deonna Purrazzo looks set to depart the company in the new year according
11:29 to Fightful Select.
11:31 It was reported in September that Purrazzo's contract with Impact was set to come up in
11:34 early 2024, and while there had been no update on the renegotiation, Purrazzo's presence
11:39 on the TNA Wrestling Graphics had some theorising that she was set to stick around.
11:44 However, that seems to not be the case with no new deal agreed between the two parties
11:50 and Purrazzo now reportedly keen to explore free agency.
11:54 While there has been no word yet on where she may end up landing, her final dates with
11:58 the company are said to be real soon, specifically the Impact final resolution tapings in Canada
12:04 this weekend.
12:05 Although Purrazzo is set to explore her options elsewhere, Fightful did note that the split
12:10 with Impact was amicable, with the door open to agreeing a new deal with the company in
12:16 the future.
12:17 And lastly we finish up today with an injury update on WWE's resident ambulance tipper
12:22 Braun Strowman.
12:23 The Monster Among Men has been off TV for much of 2023, having undergone neck fusion
12:28 surgery in June.
12:29 Due to the severity of the issue, many have been wondering if/when we can expect to see
12:33 Strowman back inside a WWE ring again.
12:37 Speaking in an interview with News18, Strowman thankfully provided a promising update.
12:42 He said "So I did my five-month check-up and I got medically cleared to start lifting
12:47 weights.
12:48 I lost 35 pounds just sitting around for eight weeks because I wasn't eating like I normally
12:53 do since I wasn't lifting.
12:55 So now we're trying to put the weight back on.
12:57 The goal for 2024 is to continue this.
13:00 As I said, I go back after the first year to have another check-up and then get back
13:04 in the ring, getting back into shape and then getting back to passing these hands out."
13:09 Give these hands.
13:11 And while we are approaching the traditional surprise return season in WWE, aka the Royal
13:17 Rumble, Strowman admitted that while that would be great, he is "at the mercy of the
13:22 doctors due to the severity of the injury".
13:25 Whenever the return does come around though, one thing Strowman made sure to mention was
13:28 that he would be doing so in dedication to his close friend and former Wyatt Family leader
13:34 Bray Wyatt.
13:35 We at WrestleTalk would like to continue to extend our well wishes to Strowman in his
13:39 ongoing recovery.
13:40 And that is all for today, folks.
13:42 Before I let you out of here, please go and check out our brand new RPG channel, Chaotic
13:46 Neutral, because we did our first game of fiasco last week and it is bananas.
13:51 Myself, Sullivan, Rosie, Dan and Tegan, yes, Tegan of Screaming on No Holds Board fame,
13:58 had a blast playing a cast of hapless dragon slayers on an improvised comedy cape.
14:01 If you like RPGs or you like silly little shows, please go and check it out.
14:06 Have a happy Friday.
14:07 Enjoy the wrestling.
