00:03 - North Carolina getting it together.
00:04 The rules are a little bit different there,
00:07 but it appears that ESPN Bet is finally thrown their hat
00:11 in the ring in the state of North Carolina.
00:14 - Yeah, they have.
00:14 And to fully understand the situation,
00:16 as you're alluding to, you know,
00:18 the governor signed it back in June
00:19 and it seemed like they were gonna start this process
00:23 pretty swimmingly, get it going.
00:25 But it turned out in September,
00:27 and I think people had an idea this was going to happen.
00:29 So there wasn't a rush to get it done.
00:32 They completely changed the law to require sports books
00:35 to partner with a professional sports organization.
00:38 Since that law change in September,
00:40 it's really sped up a lot.
00:42 And we are looking at a launch fairly soon.
00:45 However, last week that the regulators said
00:48 it will not be in time for the Super Bowl.
00:50 So that's, you know, kind of setting up
00:51 a March Madness type launch,
00:53 which I would imagine is their new goal.
00:56 But to that point, yeah, yesterday,
00:57 ESPN bet announced that they will be partnering
01:00 with Quail Hollow Club
01:02 and the PGA Tours, Wells Fargo Championship.
01:05 They also host in 2025,
01:08 the PGA Championship for the second time.
01:09 So it's a pretty nice partnership for ESPN bet that,
01:13 you know, for such a new operator,
01:14 remember they just launched last month,
01:16 replacing Barstool for Penn Entertainment.
01:19 You know, it's kind of a quick move
01:21 because the only other partnership we're aware of
01:24 in North Carolina is a bet 365
01:27 in the Carolina Charlotte Hornets, sorry.
01:31 And so there's still plenty to be known.
01:33 You know, we don't know who the DraftKings partner,
01:35 we don't know Fandul, that MGM, Caesars,
01:38 all these major players, we have no idea yet,
01:41 but there's still plenty of organizations out there.
01:44 I mean, you've got the Panthers
01:46 and the, who else we got in North Carolina?
01:50 A lot of people.
01:51 So we gotta see those coming.
01:54 And the applications are due by December 27th.
01:57 So that's not too far off, especially with the holidays.
02:00 So you gotta imagine those announcements are coming soon
02:03 and, you know, stay tuned at Legal Sports Report
02:05 'cause we'll have them up pretty much
02:06 as soon as they happen.
