00:00 The United States said that it will wait to see the results of India's investigations
00:04 into its allegations that an Indian individual was involved in the foiled murder attempt

00:11 While the US has not named the separatist, it is believed to be Gurpatwan Singh Pannu.
00:17 Matthew Miller, spokesperson for the United States Department of State on Tuesday, said
00:21 his country was taking "very seriously" the matter concerning allegations of the involvement
00:25 of an Indian official in a plot to assassinate Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwan Singh Pannu
00:30 on American soil.
00:34 State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller in a briefing told reporters, "I won't
00:37 comment on the underlying substance because it is an ongoing law enforcement matter and
00:41 it would be inappropriate for me to do so when the DOJ is presenting a case in court.
00:45 I also made clear that we have noted at the most senior levels of this government, the
00:49 Secretary of State has raised this directly with his foreign counterpart, that we take
00:53 this issue very seriously.
00:54 They told us they would conduct an investigation.
00:56 They have publicly announced an investigation and now we'll wait to see the results of
01:00 the investigation.
01:01 It is something we take very seriously."
01:03 The statement comes after the Department of Justice linked an Indian official to a man
01:06 charged with conspiring to kill Pannu.
01:09 Miller also commented on a question on the Canadian investigation into the murder of
01:13 another Khalistani terrorist, Hardeep Singh Nachar.
01:15 According to the US government, a 52-year-old Indian national, Nikhil Gupta, worked together
01:20 with an Indian government employee codenamed CC-1 to assassinate a political activist with
01:24 US citizenship residing in New York City.
01:27 The Justice Department said that CC-1 is an Indian government agency employee who has
01:31 described himself as a senior field officer with responsibilities in security management
01:35 and intelligence.
01:36 He had previously served in the Central Reserve Police Force, it said.
01:39 US Secretary of State Antony Blinken appreciated India's announcement to launch a probe into
01:42 the matter, stating, "The government announced today that it was conducting an investigation
01:46 and that's good and appropriate and we look forward to seeing the result."
01:50 Miller said that the US has also urged India to cooperate with Canada that has levelled
01:54 similar allegations.
01:55 Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that Indian agents were involved in the killing
01:59 of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nachar, a claim India dismissed as "absurd" and
