00:00 It's been over two years since plans were lodged to turn the former Lord Hill Hotel
00:04 in Shrewsbury into new homes. Developers SY Homes said they wanted to strip back the
00:08 modern extensions in order to return the Grade II listed building to its former glory. And
00:13 we've been invited for a little sneak round.

00:31 We purchased the Lord Hill Hotel back in 2020. We put in the planning to restore the front
00:42 building, which is now a finished project. There's now three houses where the entrance
00:49 to the Lord Hill was at the beginning. They're still Grade II, they still have lots of original
00:56 features that are new, so as in the windows have all been handmade. Everything has been
01:05 taken back to bare brick. Lovely hand built kitchens, we used top quality granites. Two
01:14 houses were already sold, lovely couples that already moved in and we're just waiting to
01:20 sell the new house. The staircase was one of the things that we were asked to keep.
01:26 It's a sort of an original feature, so that was taken right the way back. It's actually
01:32 metal wood, so that's been carefully restored and is one of the features of this house.
01:38 I've actually spoken to a lady that actually lived here when she was, she's probably now
01:48 in her 80s, but she lived here as a child and it was her family home. So it was very
01:55 interesting to her to see how it's coming on and she was really excited about our plans
02:00 and what we've done and it's so nice to see somebody that has this as a family home and
02:06 then see it being restored and someone who would be happy about that and how it looks
02:11 and it's bringing back lots of lovely memories for her. Apparently they used to keep beads,
02:16 so that's what I know about them. Yeah, we've had lots and lots of people come to visit.
02:21 Everybody that's been here on site, seen the buildings, loved the buildings, always comment
02:28 on how this is another feature of Abbeyford Gate, how it's keeping in with the other properties.
