Introducing the Advent series "Pilgrims to the Manger," about Biblical figures from Adam and Eve up to the men and women of the New Testament who join us on a journey to the manger with the baby Jesus.
Transcript
00:00 It is the Holy Season of Advent and we want to prepare ourselves the best we can for the
00:09 coming of Jesus Christ with the greatest openness and longing that we can live.
00:14 As we heard yesterday at Mass in the second reading from St. Paul, he enjoins us that
00:20 we are called to a fellowship in Jesus Christ.
00:24 And that's what Alatea is.
00:26 It's a fellowship of believers who are looking for Jesus Christ, who want to live the life
00:31 of Jesus Christ, and who want to share the life of Jesus Christ by being the face of
00:36 Christ for others.
00:37 And as we live this great longing, we call to mind this Advent that there are many, many
00:42 others who have prepared the way for our being able to believe in Jesus and they are, like
00:50 us, pilgrims to the manger.
00:52 And that's why this Advent, Alatea is offering you a special series of reflections called
00:59 just that, Pilgrims to the Manger, in which we look at the lives of holy believers from
01:04 the Old Testament, starting with Adam and Eve, all the way up to the New Testament.
01:10 People who, by their witness and by their holiness and by their belief, their conviction
01:15 about God and the things of God, help show us how to live a godly way, in a holy way,
01:23 in a virtuous way, in a way given over to the things of God.
01:27 So look forward to those reflections so that together we can join in this fellowship, making
01:34 our way as pilgrims to the manger, where we hope finally to join the great cloud of witnesses,
01:41 the saints who rejoice in the holiness possible because Christ our Savior is born for us.
01:48 God bless you.
