Previewing Detroit Lions Week 13 NFL contest against New Orleans Saints.
Transcript
00:00 This weekend, the Detroit Lions prepare
00:02 to play the New Orleans Saints in a week 13 NFL contest.
00:05 Here today to break down that game and give his analysis
00:09 is SIL Lions' John Macron.
00:11 John, give me your thoughts and who do you got and why?
00:14 Yeah, Cameron, real interesting.
00:16 The Detroit Lions are gonna look to bounce back
00:17 after a disappointing loss on Thanksgiving to the Packers.
00:21 Look, Cameron, still an eight and three football team,
00:23 but when you lose on Thanksgiving
00:26 in front of a nationally televised audience
00:28 and play not to the level that you're used to,
00:30 it's gonna have been a long 10 days.
00:32 I think that Dan Campbell said that he likes it like this,
00:35 where everybody's doubting his football team.
00:37 I think the Detroit Lions spent the week of practice
00:40 really honing in on fundamentals,
00:42 clearly needing to not turn the football over
00:45 on both sides of the ball.
00:46 I think that offensively, you're gonna wanna see
00:48 Jared Goff perform at a higher level,
00:50 and defensively, you're gonna wanna force takeaways.
00:53 So I think the Lions are gonna play much better on the road.
00:56 It's a tough place to play.
00:57 New Orleans is not an easy team to beat.
01:00 Obviously, they're gonna be hungry
01:01 after losing last week to the Falcons,
01:04 but they're dinged up.
01:05 We're not sure yet if Chris Olave is gonna suit up,
01:08 but if he does, a young, talented wideout
01:11 that will pose some challenges
01:12 potentially for the Lions' defense.
01:14 But I think the Lions are honing in
01:15 on trying to stop Taysom Hill,
01:17 the all-everything player
01:19 that can be a running back, quarterback,
01:22 can play a lot of different positions
01:23 and be an offensive weapon,
01:25 obviously trying to stop Derek Carr
01:27 and Alvin Kamara.
01:28 I think for the Detroit Lions offense,
01:30 when you look at the Saints' defense,
01:33 I think it's gonna be advantageous this week
01:35 for the Lions to run the football,
01:37 definitely get David Montgomery
01:38 and Jameer Gibbs involved early.
01:40 And I think that for Jared Goff,
01:42 this will be a contest in which he's gonna wanna
01:44 release the football quickly,
01:46 not stare in the face of pressure like he has been.
01:49 And clearly, Cameron, when you see six turnovers
01:51 from Jared Goff in the past couple of weeks,
01:54 you know he's gonna wanna clean that up
01:57 and play a much better brand of football.
01:59 I think the Lions all year
02:00 have not lost back-to-back games.
02:02 They're in a situation in which they wanna win
02:04 and continue to really establish themselves
02:07 in the NFC North.
02:08 So I think this contest is gonna favor the Lions
02:10 in a lot of ways.
02:11 And I see a potential seven-point victory
02:14 from the Lions on the road
02:15 in a rebound game against a tough opponent.
02:17 But I still think the Lions are the better football team.
02:20 - John, you said it best.
02:21 I do think it'll be a rebound game
02:23 and the Lions will bounce back.
02:24 Thanks for all the insight.
