This Volcano In Indonesia Exploded In a Beautiful Display!

But it’s not the only volcano that has erupted this month.

00:07 This is Mount Merapi, one of the island nation's most active volcanoes, and recently it began

00:12 erupting once again.

00:14 The explosive events sent ash and smoke careening down the mountainside in what is referred

00:18 to in volcanology as a pyroclastic flow.

00:21 A pyroclastic flow is a fast-moving cloud of extremely hot volcanic gas and matter able

00:26 to reach downhill speeds of 430 mph and temperatures of over 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit.

00:33 And now residents living near Mount Merapi have been warned of possible lava flows reaching

00:37 roads as well.

00:38 According to Indonesia's head of volcanology and geological hazard mitigation center, since

00:43 it began erupting this particular time, the 9,721-foot-tall volcano has sent at least

00:48 30 hot clouds of gas into the atmosphere.

00:51 And it's been a particularly active month for volcanoes around the world in general,

00:55 with Mount Etna in Italy and Mount Kilauea in Hawaii also putting on some pretty spectacular
