00:00 For us it was trying to explore new cities that we haven't previously had a presence
00:05 in from a retail perspective and yeah when he invited us up to do a pop-up in Glasgow
00:11 pre, you know just before Christmas it was a complete no-brainer.
00:14 I think it's a city that you know is kind of really fond in all our hearts so I think
00:20 for us it was just exciting to try and take the Vintage Threads brand which you know started
00:24 in Newcastle then went to London kind of back up to the north I guess in a space that's
00:30 got such a big cultural scene from you know music to you know clothing and I think our
00:36 more curated level of vintage can fit right in.
00:39 People are more aware you know I think all you need to know when you turn on the news
00:43 is the issues that you know all the fast fashion retailers are causing you know the environment
00:49 I think the over consumption that they're making you know the constant production of
00:52 clothing to such a low quality I think it's now made people think do I really need to
00:58 spend you know £10 on a new sweater you know there's got to be someone who's losing out
01:02 with that you know whether it's the person who's actually making it you know in the sweatshops
01:07 in the developing countries to actually the person who's buying it because as soon as
01:11 you wash it it goes down about three sizes.
01:13 You know when you realise how much clothing there is from 2000s, 90s, 80s you know even
01:19 10 years ago there's vast amounts and it's completely untapped so I think our job is
01:24 to really find those incredible pieces of clothing which might be branded, might not
01:29 be branded, might just be a really cool design and just bring them to people to make it more
01:34 accessible.
01:35 Why did so many people previously buy fast fashion because it was easy, it was on the
01:37 doorstep, it was like one click, free returns.
01:40 The rise of second hand has also been from the consumers wanting a different option but
01:45 also to you know loads of other amazing vintage businesses who were you know putting themselves
01:49 out there to provide you know incredible vintage clothes on the market you know which is I
01:55 guess why we're seeing now on the high street a move to more vintage shops you know opening
02:00 up and I think yeah that's you know the second hand markets you know growing and I think
02:04 for us we love being a part of it and it's nice to see you know the rental side growing
02:09 not alone just you know the second hand clothing.
02:12 So we wanted to bring a selection of items for people to get involved in so whether it
02:16 be more like the higher end pieces so you know Stone Island, Prada, Moncler, Burberry
02:21 scarves are obviously the perfect Christmas present and the winter essential in any city
02:27 but also bring in pieces that were you know much more accessible for everyone so like
02:32 vintage tees for us you know which we've been collecting you know vintage Stussy, Palace.
02:37 We've also brought a couple of like specific rework pieces for Sneakers ER so obviously
02:42 you know we're in the home of trainers in Glasgow so we've got which were a pair of
02:47 damaged Nike Air Max's which even Sneakers ER couldn't repair and we just wanted to create
02:54 you know a new item out of them so we created this which is one of our rework pieces so
02:58 we've got you know the reworking is really where we you know take things that are damaged
03:03 and really look to you know create a new life out of that piece and you know we've made
03:09 you know jackets out of trainers, we've got a pair of I think patchwork jeans on here
03:14 which you know these came from just three pairs of different denim jeans that all had
03:21 you know stains on and you know weren't exactly in the best condition and I think for us it's
03:26 all about creating something new out of something that's damaged which I think for the whole
03:30 second hand industry is what we're you know slowly starting to see more of because you
03:36 know yes there's all loads of amazing vintage clothes but then there's also loads of amazing
03:40 vintage clothes that are damaged that unfortunately you can't walk around with a massive bleach
03:43 stain all over.
