00:00 Christmas is coming, many of our fellow citizens are going home to their respective places to celebrate Christmas.
00:08 But of course, when you're traveling, you can't avoid it.
00:11 If you're riding public transport, there will be incidents that you don't like.
00:15 You'll get beaten up, you'll get beaten up.
00:18 It's good that we have a prohibition law that protects us from any sexual abuse.
00:25 To help us explain, we have with us the senior member of the technical working group of MMDA-ASIE,
00:33 or Anti-Sexual Harassment Enforcers, Atty. Diane Dizon.
00:37 Atty. Diane, good afternoon.
00:39 Good afternoon, Mommy Susan.
00:40 So, Atty., here's the first question.
00:43 Why are you saying that the prohibition law is not allowed?
00:45 What is it that helps our fellow citizens who ride public transport?
00:50 The Republic Act, 11313, or Safe Spaces Act, or better known as the Bawal Bastos Law,
00:57 helps our fellow citizens to protect themselves from sexual harassment in public places.
01:05 One of the laws that defines public places is the PUBs.
01:13 It's included in public places.
01:15 What do you report to your authorities, or the people who ask for your assistance?
01:20 What are the things that happen that are considered sexual abuse, sexual advantage, or sexual harassment?
01:28 Since the law is new, Mommy Susan, it's good that you know what's in here.
01:33 At least, our viewers will know what their rights are when they are harassed.
01:40 This is a wider type of sexual harassment.
01:45 It includes catcalling, wolf whistling, and even whistling.
01:50 When someone says, "You're so beautiful, Miss."
01:52 When someone says, "Can I have your number?"
01:55 These things are covered by the RA 1131.
01:59 Yes, here in PITX, we know that there are passengers who go home to faraway places.
02:05 Of course, when they go faraway, the travel is more prone to such types of abuse.
02:09 If a passenger experiences harassment, what should they do?
02:17 The first thing they can do is to report it to the driver or the conductor.
02:23 They are the ones who can respond.
02:27 If they see it, they can report it immediately.
02:31 This is a crime against the citizens' rights. The RA 11313 is a criminal law.
02:41 They can report it.
02:43 If the MMDA enforcer sees it, they can report it.
02:49 Under this law, the MMDA enforcer is an anti-sexual harassment enforcer.
02:55 Thank you very much, Atty. Diane Dizon. That is a big help for our fellow citizens who ride public transportation.
03:03 You know what to do if you experience sexual harassment with your passengers.
03:09 Thank you very much, Atty. Diane Dizon. Have a good night.
03:12 Thank you.
03:13 Thank you.
