00:00 It's been a nightmare, especially this time of the year when we know it's coming up to
00:16 the anniversary and you think, "Oh, that's another year without a son."
00:23 I look at it the way, if it happened to somebody else, how would they feel if it was one of
00:30 their children or their family member?
00:33 They would want somebody to come forward to give them some, like a little bit of peace
00:42 of mind basically.
00:45 It's just the not knowing, isn't it?
00:47 Yeah.
00:48 It's not knowing.
00:49 No justice, no...
00:52 The thinking that there's somebody still walking around out there that's done this and devastated
00:56 the whole family.
00:57 They just can't have no conscience.
01:02 I don't think there's a day goes by when we don't bring his name up, whether it's how
01:08 much we miss him or some of the things he used to do that reminds us of something or
01:16 we'll be doing something and his name will just crop up.
01:22 It's destroyed the family.
01:24 Not totally destroyed it, but things are never the same as they used to be.
01:29 No, because we used to look forward to, especially me, because I used to love Christmas.
01:35 Best time of the year for me is Christmas, but it ain't no more.
01:39 I don't care if I never put the tree up, but it's the grandkids that you do it for and
01:44 keep things going.
01:47 We just haven't got the same motivation as we used to have.
01:50 Nothing's the same.
01:51 It feels the same.
01:52 It's like Christmas Day, we always sit down round the table for dinner.
01:58 I mean, Boxing Day, my oldest son's going to come with his partner and the grandkids.
02:06 My daughter will be there, but there'll be that one empty space at the end of the table.
02:11 He liked to go to raves.
02:13 He loved his raves with his brother.
02:17 Down to the scrapyard, he loved collecting scrap.
02:23 I think in the last 18 months, two years, he really had knuckled down, changed his life
02:29 around.
02:30 He was planning on proposing to his girlfriend at the time.
02:37 Obviously, I knew all about it, but nobody else did, because it was one of them father-son
02:45 talks where he says, "I need you to know something, Dad."
02:51 And it was one of them special moments where he'd come and confide in me about what his
02:57 plans were.
02:59 But unfortunately, it didn't materialise.
03:06 It's hard to imagine then that no one's been caught.
03:11 Five years is a long time to keep something secret.
03:15 Someone knows something.
03:16 I can't believe how anyone can walk around knowing what he's done.
03:24 There's not a care in the world.
03:28 If you've got any information at all...
03:30 Even if you think it's not worth looking at, let the police decide that.
03:37 They're the experts.
03:38 They can decide whether it's relevant or not.
03:43 Come forward.
03:44 And then look at your own families.
03:46 We've been waiting five years.
03:48 Don't make us wait another five years.
03:51 But there's not a day goes by when we don't stop thinking about him, or we don't mention
03:56 his name.
03:57 And we'll never stop loving him.
03:59 [laughter]
04:04 [applause]
