Transcript
00:00 The starting gun is up.
00:01 Oars to front stops.
00:03 Ready.
00:04 Row!
00:05 It was really important for us to get rowing right.
00:09 Just drop the blade in, Thomas.
00:10 OK, well done, lads.
00:11 Rowing is the ultimate team sport.
00:13 Everybody has to do exactly the same thing
00:16 at exactly the same time.
00:17 Row!
00:18 Row!
00:19 For the first six weeks, we were training.
00:21 Training started in a controlled environment in this tank
00:25 where everybody just figured out the rhythm.
00:27 And then that transitioned onto the river.
00:29 We get picked up at 6.30.
00:31 It was wake up, row, eat, sleep, repeat.
00:34 Wet and cold.
00:35 Best part of the day right here.
00:36 A massive amount of rowing on the River Thames.
00:39 And one.
00:40 It's also a lot of conditioning work in the gym.
00:44 It's like having eight people try
00:45 to learn how to drive at 100 miles an hour,
00:47 sharing one steering wheel.
00:49 So when George and I went to go skiing the first time,
00:52 they're rowing.
00:52 I mean, they were horrible.
00:54 It was just like paddles going everywhere.
00:55 Relax those shoulders.
00:57 About four weeks later, they were rowing as a team.
00:59 That's looking good, man.
01:01 We would train whenever we had days off throughout filming.
01:04 We push ourselves and push each other to go as fast as we can.
01:07 We shot an order.
01:09 So by the time we got to the race in Germany--
01:10 [shouting]
01:13 --our kids could stay in the game.
01:14 Give me 46!
01:15 Yesterday, we got to 46, which is the amount of strokes
01:18 per minute you have in the boat, which
01:20 is what the boys did in the Olympics to win the race.
01:23 I couldn't be prouder of all of us.
01:25 For all the people who didn't believe in you, as one,
01:30 as one.
01:31 [music playing]
01:34 (upbeat music)
