00:02 So my name is Anthony Ng, and I directed Jill Uncredited.
00:09 It's about one of the most prolific background actors,
00:13 and it's made up entirely of her appearances.

00:30 I had the idea a while ago,
00:31 but thought there was no way, how do you find an extra?
00:35 'Cause they're uncredited by definition.
00:37 And then once I stumbled across a forum online
00:40 of people who like to identify extras
00:42 in the background of old British film.
00:45 And through that forum, I spoke to someone
00:48 who gave me Jill's number,
00:49 because she'd been spoken about as one of the most prolific.
00:52 And then I met with Jill,
00:54 and she gave me a list of all the jobs she'd worked.
00:59 And it was almost 2,000 entries.

01:03 [camera shutter clicking]
01:07 Just short of the 2,000, people wanted me to do the 2,000,
01:14 but I think if you include this,
01:16 I think then I've probably made it and more.
01:20 [camera shutter clicking]
01:23 In the end, I found her in about 250 appearances,
01:27 and I used those to help make the film.
01:29 I think there's about 80 to 100 clips in the film.

01:35 I never wanted to be famous.
01:37 I just really, really enjoyed doing extra work.
01:41 I loved, every day was different.
01:43 I was a different person every day.
01:44 I was dressed differently every day.
01:47 And every day was a sort of an adventure.
01:49 So it was fabulous.
01:51 [gentle music]
01:53 It was my only job, yes.
02:01 [laughs]
02:03 I was a dancer, and I still danced in between,
02:07 and I got all the dancing jobs.
02:09 But I just loved film, and I loved being on sets.
02:14 I did have dedicated roles.
02:16 I made a very good nurse,
02:18 and in the end, got my own nurse's uniform,
02:21 so that I could always say that I had it,
02:24 and a very good waitress.
02:26 And I was sent to Spain about four times to be a waitress,
02:30 and I think they've got quite a few waitresses
02:32 already out there.
02:33 [laughs]
02:34 [gentle music]
02:35 And I remember every single film that I did,
02:39 and what I felt that day.
02:40 And not all jobs were fabulous,
02:43 but they were always interesting.
02:47 [gentle music]
02:50 It's a very strange feeling,
02:53 and it's a strange feeling of seeing myself
02:55 very, very young, and now I'm so much older.
02:58 And well, yes, credited at last.
03:02 [laughs]
03:04 It's really quite funny.
