00:11 As part of the expansion of the National Basketball Training Center,
00:17 local qualifiers have already started in different parts of the country
00:21 for the under-19 teams to play in the inaugural NBTC Regional Championships.
00:27 There are 68 local qualifying tournaments in total,
00:31 where the winners will be able to get a spot in the regional meet
00:35 held in Ilocos Norte, Sarangani, Cebu, and Batangas.
00:40 According to NBTC Program Director Erick Altamirano,
00:44 the tournament is far from being able to find talented basketball players from the provinces.
00:50 So we wanted to really give attention and awareness
00:55 to who are our provincial heroes.
00:58 We want to get to know them, for them to be identified for our national team.
01:04 Aside from the local teams,
01:06 the NBTC National Finals is also expected to have a bigger competition of their colleges and international teams.
01:13 We have players from 10 countries, from the global teams,
01:18 from USA, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Italy, Europe, Middle East.
01:25 So they will qualify.
01:26 And of course, there will be qualifiers coming or invites coming from the UAP and the NCAA teams.
01:34 The top 4 teams that will be playing in North Luzon and South Luzon,
01:39 Visayas and Mindanao Championships will be able to enter the 2024 NBTC National Finals,
01:44 which will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena from March 18 to 24.
