00:00 Hey guys, and welcome back to my channel.
00:01 So this vlog is going to be, I don't know,
00:04 a few days of finals week in dental school.
00:06 Finals week is more than a week.
00:08 We've been having finals for about a week now,
00:12 and they end next week.
00:14 So it's like two weeks.
00:16 If I'm a little slow to speak,
00:17 it's because I haven't slept much.
00:19 Let me tell you, in undergrad,
00:21 I never had to stay up late to study for tests,
00:23 but dental school is no joke.
00:25 So it's Tuesday afternoon,
00:27 and I didn't vlog on Monday or earlier today
00:30 because I had just like the worst two days of my life.
00:33 We had four really hard tests in the past two days.
00:38 It's now like from like Monday morning to Tuesday afternoon.
00:42 Basically in undergrad,
00:43 you may or may not have a reading period
00:45 where you don't have classes for a couple of days
00:47 before you have exams.
00:48 Doesn't exist in dental school.
00:50 They're just like, nope, no break in classes.
00:52 In fact, I actually have class all tomorrow morning.
00:55 So yeah, you don't even get a break from classes.
00:57 You're still learning new content during finals week.
01:00 And I had two finals last week,
01:02 four in the past two days,
01:04 four more between Thursday and Friday,
01:07 and then three next week.
01:08 I think I have a total of like 13 exams.
01:11 Yes, 13 exams.
01:13 In undergrad, you probably have like
01:15 anywhere from like two to four.
01:16 Usually I have like two.
01:18 So I have like six times that.
01:21 We're only in 12 classes,
01:22 but a lot of our classes have two finals
01:24 'cause I have like a practical portion and a written.
01:27 So that's really exciting stuff.
01:29 So yeah, even if you prepare for weeks in advance,
01:32 which like I had been studying
01:33 for some of these exams for weeks,
01:35 it's impossible to like not cram at least a little bit.
01:38 Like I was definitely still learning new content today
01:41 right before the exam.
01:42 And like that was like,
01:43 I would never do that in undergrad.
01:44 I was already done studying for an exam
01:46 like the day before.
01:47 I'd be like, nope, I'm done.
01:49 I'm ready.
01:50 No, I was still studying for until like 10 minutes
01:53 before my anatomy exam today.
01:55 But I actually think they went pretty well.
01:56 I kind of forget how the ones yesterday went
01:59 'cause it's just, it's been a while since yesterday.
02:02 So the final I had this morning
02:04 that I literally started studying for this morning
02:06 at like 5.30 AM, I actually did really well.
02:09 Like I really did not think I did well, but I did.
02:12 So we're off to a great start.
02:14 Today I'm taking a break right now
02:16 because like I just need to and I'm really tired.
02:19 So I'm gonna take a break,
02:20 maybe clean up my apartment a little bit
02:21 because I've kind of neglected cleaning
02:23 in the past few days.
02:25 And then I'm gonna start studying for my exams this Friday.
02:28 I just got Peach this new toy.
02:30 It's this cat wheel.
02:31 She's actually using it.
02:32 Look at her.

02:36 Oh my gosh.
02:37 She's like literally the only reason
02:38 that I haven't had a mental breakdown this week.
02:40 She's just, she's amazing.
02:42 So yeah, I'm gonna focus on studying
02:43 for my microbiology immunology exam on Friday.
02:46 Oh my gosh, she's running.

02:49 So yeah, I'll show you guys kind of how I study.
02:51 I use my iPad a lot,
02:52 which is like the best study resource I've had.
02:54 I feel like this whole intro sucked
02:56 because I'm so tired.
02:57 I don't even know what I'm saying,
02:58 but I feel like that's part of portraying the reality
03:00 of the like mess that is this week.
03:03 So yeah, anyways, I'll talk to you guys later.
03:07 So I'm just having a little quick snack
03:09 before I get back to studying.
03:10 I just took a little break, watched some TV.
03:13 So I'm gonna have some of these
03:15 multi-grain pita chips from Trader Joe's.
03:17 I really like these because I don't know,
03:19 they're kind of like a cross between a pita chip
03:21 and a cracker.
03:22 So I don't know, I like the like texture of them.
03:24 And then I'm having some of the everything with the bagel,
03:27 Greek style yogurt dip.
03:29 So I like this stuff.
03:30 I'm just confused because Greek yogurt
03:32 is supposed to have high protein, you know, it's dairy.
03:34 And this only has one gram of protein per serving.
03:36 Like where did all the protein go?
03:39 Like I just don't get it.
03:40 Either way, this stuff is still really good.
03:42 And then I'm having my greens and reds.
03:46 I'll have the link down below for these,
03:47 but honestly, I was like so on the brink of sickness
03:50 these past few days,
03:51 especially because I've been like sleeping
03:54 like five to six hours, which is not good.
03:57 But like, I really had no choice.
03:58 And these greens and reds, let me tell you,
04:01 I like last year, if I was taking these at finals week,
04:05 like I would 100% have gotten sick.
04:08 So I just use one of these little mixer dudes too.
04:12 It just makes it easy.
04:13 But yeah, they've really saved me.
04:15 And like, I haven't really been eating great
04:17 the past few days either.
04:19 And they just help so much with digestion and bloating.
04:22 So I'm gonna have my greens, have my little snack,
04:25 and I think go answer some emails for a little bit
04:28 and then study.
04:30 I'm so tired, I don't wanna study, but I probably should.

04:38 I just wanted to show you guys like kind of how I study
04:51 and my like general study setup.
04:53 And I've gotten a lot of requests on like how I use my iPad
04:56 for notes and stuff and what app I use.
04:58 So I'm just gonna like do that real quick.

05:03 So first of all, I use kind of a combination
05:05 of like OneNote and just like taking notes
05:09 and reviewing the slides.
05:10 And I also use Quizlet quite a bit
05:13 just because it just helps with, I don't know,
05:15 hammering in those like main concepts,
05:18 like things you need to like really memorize,
05:20 which that's dental school people.
05:22 So yeah, you can see I've used like,
05:25 I have some of my Quizlets, some of one of my classmates.
05:28 All my classmates share their study content
05:30 and their study materials, which is super nice
05:32 'cause then sometimes like if I make a Quizlet one time,
05:35 maybe someone else will make it another time.
05:37 So then we don't like all have to make it
05:39 and it just kind of cuts down time.
05:40 Anyways, for my iPad, I just use Microsoft OneNote.
05:44 Here's OneNote.
05:44 It's literally free.
05:46 And most schools will give you unlimited space.

05:50 She likes to sit with me.
05:52 So yeah, this is OneNote.
05:53 Basically, it's helpful for lectures
05:56 because you can download your PowerPoints onto OneNote.
06:00 And then like for classes like anatomy,
06:02 it's really helpful to be able to like point to things.
06:04 Like see over here, I was like,
06:06 "Hey, this is a submandibular gland."
06:08 And I just wrote that in.
06:10 You can also highlight things.
06:13 You can also highlight things.
06:14 Like, let's see, I want to highlight this in green.
06:16 Mylohyoid.
06:18 Boom, there you go.
06:19 Writing on it is super easy.
06:21 Let's just say like, "Hello."
06:23 Yes.
06:24 Yeah, so it's super easy.
06:25 I literally love it.
06:26 I don't like, I don't even use paper.
06:28 It's amazing.
06:29 I have the iPad Pro.
06:30 I have the bigger one.
06:31 I got it refurbished for like half the price.
06:33 So it was honestly not too bad.
06:34 And this is like how I like do my little study guides.
06:37 The best part of OneNote is that you can like,
06:39 you know, zoom in and you're like,
06:40 "Okay, let me write out things in detail."
06:42 And then all of a sudden you zoom out
06:44 and like you have a whole study guide going on.
06:47 So I have like the vasculature.
06:50 It's just really helpful to draw things out for studying.
06:53 I have like the maxillary nerve.
06:55 I have the subthalamic.
06:58 I just basically have all the nerves.
07:00 All drawn out with like the modalities and stuff.
07:03 And you can also like type stuff really easily on it too.
07:06 And it's just really easy to move around.
07:07 It's a facial nerve.
07:08 And yeah, this is just how I like to study.
07:11 So yeah, a lot of my classmates use OneNote.
07:14 Most of them use OneNote.
07:15 Some use Notability,
07:17 but you can only write on the slides for that.
07:19 You can't write like on the space next to the slides,
07:22 which there's just too much content for me
07:23 to not write on the side of the slides,
07:25 like outside the slides.
07:27 So that's why I prefer OneNote.
07:28 Also there's like nothing OneNote doesn't do
07:30 that Notability does do.
07:32 So, and you have to like pay for it.
07:34 So I just prefer OneNote.
07:35 I feel like today is like really unrepresentative
07:37 for finals.
07:38 Like I've been literally grinding 24/7
07:41 for the past like three days,
07:43 but I have a little break today, I guess.
07:45 I think I deserve it.
07:46 If I didn't take a break, I'd probably crash.
07:48 So very important to let yourself rest.

09:05 which I really understand how it's allowed, but okay.

09:11 probably just like eat while we study.

10:19 and then I just studied from like 1130 ish to like five,
10:24 got through quite a bit for microbiology,
10:28 which is really good.
10:30 Cause that's like my big exam on Friday.
10:32 Then I went to the gym with the intention of working out
10:34 for like 45 minutes and I worked out for like 20 minutes,
10:38 strained my neck and then I basically just stretched out
10:42 cause I mean, I do not need to hurt myself right now.
10:45 So kind of a bummer cause it was the only workout
10:48 I was really gonna get this week.
10:50 So I kind of expected to do a little more, but that's okay.
10:54 Then I just stopped by the grocery store really quick
10:58 and picked up some monsters.
11:01 So yes, I do not normally drink energy drinks people.
11:04 I really don't.
11:05 They don't make me feel very good as in my stomach,
11:08 but I just need them this week.
11:10 It's like the only thing that's getting me through
11:12 these like days of like 12 plus hours of studying.
11:17 And I just like, I know I'm gonna be tired this weekend.
11:20 So I really just needed them.
11:21 So I will not be having them after finals,
11:25 but for now we drink the monsters.
11:29 I drink like the zero sugar ones.
11:31 I know Whitney Simmons really likes the white monsters.
11:34 I think the red ones are better.
11:35 I tried them the first time today.
11:36 It was pretty good.
11:37 So now I'm going to make myself a little protein shake.
11:42 I'm just like really hungry and don't feel like,
11:44 you know, waiting to have dinner.
11:45 So I kind of think I'm gonna have my peppermint bark one
11:50 because it's, I don't know, it's festive.
11:52 And that one is just so good.
11:53 Just drinking it with almond milk.

11:55 I'm gonna shower, make myself dinner.
11:57 And then I'm gonna probably review mostly microbiology
12:00 for a while and then review for my clinic final tomorrow,
12:03 which is basically just like dental materials.
12:07 And it's like easy stuff.
12:09 So just got to memorize some stuff

12:37 I just got ready and everything, minimally obviously.

12:46 I am about to head to the library,
12:49 do some studying in before my exam at one o'clock.
12:52 Unfortunately, it was literally hard to sleep last night
12:54 because my neck hurt so bad
12:56 and it was really hard to find a comfortable position
12:58 and I didn't have any Advil.
12:59 So I'm gonna go pick up some Advil on the way
13:03 to the library so that I can like actually move my neck
13:05 a little bit.
13:06 It also helps with inflammation.
13:07 So Advil is like generally good after like a muscle injury,
13:11 which I think that's what this is,
13:12 which is stupid 'cause I literally did like nothing
13:15 to my neck.
13:15 I wasn't even doing an exercise when this happened.
13:17 So, but yeah, really hoping that gets better soon.
13:20 I'm gonna go study now after I play
13:21 with Peach outside a little bit.

13:36 which is like dental materials and stuff.

13:48 Then I studied for a lot of microbiology, immunology.
13:51 And then I started studying for my like Axiom,
13:55 which is like our dental like health platform.

14:00 We started studying for that, like just like
14:03 in the last hour.
14:05 And I can just tell you now that I,
14:09 that I will be staying up late.
14:11 And I'm probably gonna go to bed late
14:12 and wake up at like 5.30
14:14 because I still have so much to learn.
14:17 And the exam that I have tomorrow in that like Axiom class,
14:21 like half the class failed it last time.
14:23 Like F, failed it.
14:26 So not looking forward to it.

16:12 I'm actually flying out to Texas this weekend

16:19 because the holiday party is on Sunday night

16:25 But the finals I have next week,
16:27 I'm doing really well in both those classes.
16:29 And I think I can study well there.
16:32 So it's not gonna be a problem.
16:33 I know this week was probably like super boring to vlog,
16:36 but that's how finals week is.
16:38 It's literally a marathon, never ending exams.
16:41 I feel like it's more testing if you can just keep going
16:45 and study for like 12 hours a day for like,
16:48 you know, two weeks than if you are really,
16:51 you know, just know the content.
16:52 I don't know.
