00:00 A Canadian expat participated in a two-day rural concert that concluded on Sunday in
00:06 South China's Zhongshan City.
00:08 He explored what life was like in rural China and how the concert added color to rural revitalization.
00:17 As a foreigner, I've always been curious, what is life like in rural China after years
00:22 of development?
00:23 What is it like for the farmers today?
00:26 So today I've come to Zhuobu Village in Nanlang District, Zhongshan.
00:31 I've come to enjoy the Golden Earth Concerts and to see a little bit of what life is like
00:37 in the new China countryside.
00:46 This year's concerts will take place on November 25th and 26th.
00:50 Attendees of the concert will be able to hear a wide range of music.
00:54 Everything from traditional music, rock and roll, electronica, and even music for young
01:00 children.
01:02 During the day, tourists can stroll through Zhuobu Village and enjoy coffee, delicious
01:07 food.
01:08 There are so many people here today.
01:10 It's interesting because this small village does feel like a small town in Canada.
01:15 We have food and music and coffee, but we just don't have this many people in our villages.
01:21 I never expected it to be like this.
01:24 Wow!
01:25 This is an ecological marker where local farmers are selling the produce that they grew themselves.
01:30 We've got some locally grown bananas, some white sweet potatoes, interesting and unique
01:37 fruit and many other things.
01:41 In southern China, it's now the season of rice harvest in late autumn.
01:46 Under the sunshine, a golden carpet unfolds in the golden rice fields where two stages
01:51 have been set up.
01:53 In addition to the main stage, there is also an area where each audience member can take
01:58 center stage and display their musical talents to the fullest.
02:13 This is a natural live house music venue where the music brings joy to people.
02:18 It reminds me so much of the concerts back in Canada where we have outdoor music festivals
02:24 in the large grassy fields.
02:25 The one difference is there's a lot of people here and you can just feel the energy.
02:32 Since this October, the Zhongshan Golden Earth Concert has been promoted in various townships
02:37 in Zhongshan.
02:39 People from all walks of life who love music have come to participate in.
02:43 And the audience has enjoyed a visual and auditory feast amidst the green waters and
02:48 lush countryside.
02:50 This has not only promoted the integration of agriculture, culture and tourism in Zhongshan,
02:55 but it's also contributed to the revitalization of rural culture.
03:00 In the sweet melodies, everyone shares the stage and experiences the fruitful results
03:05 of rural rejuvenation.
03:06 As night falls, the colorful and majestic fireworks kick off the Golden Earth Concert.
03:15 Tonight, everyone in attendance is a protagonist and they are able to sing, dance until their
03:21 hearts contend.
03:22 So tonight, as we are immersed in the enchantment of the music, may we sing together and dream
03:30 of a beautiful future for rural China.
