00:02 - So, Charuji,
00:08 I see that I want to say a lot of things,
00:15 but I don't, and I just be a coward.
00:19 So, for example, I saw a man whip a bull with a stick,
00:24 but he was doing it behind the ears,
00:27 under the chin, where it really hurts.
00:30 And I wanted to go and just grab the stick
00:32 and beat him with it, or at least tell him something,
00:35 but I just ended up walking past and not doing anything.
00:39 Similarly, over here in the restaurants,
00:42 today, when I was going to my hotel,
00:46 there was this man with this plate of eggs,
00:49 and then this is supposed to be a city
00:50 where everyone is supposedly very pious and holy,
00:54 and I wanted to smash the eggs on his face,
00:56 but I just walked up the stairs past him.
00:58 I didn't even say anything, but I was trembling inside.
01:03 And I noticed, and when I do speak about it,
01:08 so, for example, when I told my sister
01:10 that would you like someone to put his hand inside you
01:13 and make you pregnant and then steal your baby
01:16 so he could drink your milk, it comes off very harsh.
01:21 And it mostly, I mostly take the way
01:25 of not rocking the boat, because it would take a lot of,
01:30 I wouldn't be able to walk 10 meters without saying anything.
01:35 How do, I guess, one, why am I such a coward?
01:40 And two, how do I get to that stage
01:43 where I can give the sage counsel in a way that you do,
01:47 which is very gentle?
01:49 When I do it, it comes off with a lot of force and--
01:53 - You know, whosoever tries it with his family members
01:58 meets the same end.
02:00 So I might come across as gentle
02:02 when talking to you all here,
02:04 but when I tried on people who have been intimate to me,
02:09 the result is much the same, hardly any difference.
02:12 See, on one hand, you have to be vigorously,
02:19 eager, energetic, and enthusiastic about this cause.
02:24 On the other hand, you also have to be skilled
02:35 and thoughtful like a good soldier.
02:40 A good soldier does not waste himself
02:45 on unnecessary battles.
02:49 He preserves himself.
02:52 The one who is whipping the bull can be stopped,
02:59 but here is my energy and my resources.
03:04 Let's say they amount to 100 units.
03:08 What if 20 or 30 units of them are expended
03:11 in just stopping this one petty fellow?
03:16 It's not one bull that I want to save.
03:18 I want to save the billions of living beings
03:24 that are being slaughtered every day, right?
03:27 But if 30% of my energy would be expended
03:30 in this one particular cause,
03:32 then am I not doing injustice to the rest of the ones
03:35 that deserve to be saved?
03:37 Are you getting it?
03:41 So while you have to have that fierce fire within,
03:46 on the other hand, you have to remember
03:50 that the soldiers are few,
03:54 and they cannot afford to waste themselves on little things.
04:00 You very well know how badly outnumbered you are, right?
04:06 You won't want to get into something
04:10 that lands you in lockup or in courtroom battles.
04:15 You'd rather have a lawyer for all that, right?
04:20 Let the lawyer take care of those things.
04:22 The spiritual soldier, the religious warrior
04:30 has to be extremely intelligent.
04:36 You could go to the extent of saying
04:41 that he has to be cunning in the service of truth.
04:49 I'm choosing this word with all deliberation.
04:53 He has to be cunning in the service of the truth.
04:58 Cunning enough to beat the most cunning ones.
05:06 The difference between the cunningness of the two
05:09 is that all the cunning ones have cunningness at their core.
05:14 The soldier of truth has truth at his core
05:23 and cunningness at the service of truth.
05:26 Are you getting it?
05:33 Just go to the Battle of Mahabharata.
05:38 There are so many occasions when Krishna tells Arjuna,
05:43 this is not the time to pick up drone.
05:48 Just obediently, respectfully go past him.
05:55 Today is not the day, Arjuna.
05:59 Don't pick up this battle.
06:03 And then he tells,
06:06 Drona won't give up his arms so easily.
06:17 Has to be Ashwathama and Hatho.
06:21 Narova, Kunjarova.
06:26 Getting it?
06:33 First of all, you have to have Krishna at your center.
06:39 And if you have Krishna at your center,
06:42 use Maya very liberally.
06:49 That's what my teacher says,
06:51 "Ja thagne thagni thagi ta thag ko aadesh"
06:55 She cheats all.
07:05 But she can be cheated.
07:13 Right!
07:14 No need to remain a simpleton.
07:24 The image that we carry of the prophets, the saints, the sages, the rishis is very misleading.
07:34 The way they have been presented to us is very conducive
07:42 to our falsenesses and darknesses.
07:46 We have been told that they were fellows who really did not have much to do with what was going on in the society.
07:52 Almost like handicapped grandfathers at home
08:02 who can do little except dispense sage counsel.
08:10 Right!
08:11 That's what all the oldies do at home.
08:14 Octogenarians and Nanogenarians.
08:17 The fellow is 94.
08:19 What else can he do?
08:22 He sits all day and talks to the extent possible.
08:26 That's how we have painted our sages.
08:30 Right!
08:32 They were the ones who were not capable of doing much
08:37 but they kept on talking of all the nice things in life.
08:41 They kept dispensing moral values probably.
08:47 You should be good.
08:49 As he said, do not lie to people.
08:53 "Sada Satya Bolo"
08:56 This kind of model of spirituality, I say, is conducive to nothing but falseness, evil, irreligiosity.
09:08 The man of truth has to be extremely sharp here
09:13 and this sharpness has to be devoted to this.
09:16 This has to be used as a resource.
09:19 Everything that you have has to be used as a resource.
09:24 You know business management?
09:26 Yes, I'll use that in the service of the truth.
09:31 You know a language?
09:33 Yes, I'll use that.
09:34 Whatsoever you have, including your cunning.
09:38 Yes, I have a sharp intellect.
09:41 When everything is to be used for the sake of truth,
09:47 why not your sharpness?
09:53 Why not? Tell me.
09:55 You have to beat them at their game
10:03 and you'll beat them because they play for themselves.
10:07 So a point will come when they'll be afraid.
10:19 They have too much at stake.
10:21 They are doing it for their own self.
10:23 You play the game for something beyond yourself.
10:27 You'll never be afraid.
10:29 In spite of drastically fewer resources, you'll still beat them
10:36 because you'll not be afraid.
10:44 A huge part of their resources will go towards defending their self.
10:51 And as far as you are concerned, everything that you have
10:54 can be applied, deployed.
10:59 So think, intellect, reason are very very important resources.
11:09 They have to be used. You have to see how things can be done.
11:12 This is no way.
11:14 People like you might just be 40 in number in this entire city.
11:23 And if out of those 40, 12 start picking street fights with bull owners,
11:34 then who will fight for spirituality?
11:40 Maya will have a hearty laugh.
11:42 12 out of 40 are gone fighting a minor battle.
11:49 Every time you walk past a meat shop or you come across a menu containing a lot of flesh,
12:02 let that harden your resolve.
12:08 No point throwing that menu on the waiter's face.
12:11 The waiter is a puny fellow.
12:13 He didn't even write the menu. He has nothing to do with.
12:18 Not even the manager. What can the manager do?
12:21 Not even the owner.
12:23 There are bigger forces at work.
12:25 And you know, what are those bigger forces?
12:27 They are not a person.
12:30 Those bigger forces are all of us.
12:33 The darkness within the human mind, the darkness pervasive in mankind,
12:38 is the larger force that is making all those things possible.
12:42 The only way to defeat that menu card is to remove the darkness in the mind of men.
12:50 Getting it?
12:57 It will hurt.
13:04 You will see all these things happening.
13:06 It will hurt.
13:08 But use that hurt as a resource.
13:11 Don't pretend that you aren't hurt.
13:17 Acknowledge the hurt and be even more charged up using the hurt.
13:25 Yes, I am hurt and I will take out every bit of it on you in an intelligent way.
