00:00:00 (upbeat music)
00:00:02 Song of Solomon chapter,
00:00:21 chapter two.
00:00:25 And we're going to read at,
00:00:28 let's read at the eighth verse.
00:00:31 The Bible says that the voice,
00:00:35 the voice of my beloved,
00:00:37 behold he comes,
00:00:41 leaping upon the mountains,
00:00:44 skipping upon the hills.
00:00:46 So he's making a journey.
00:00:49 He's skipping on the hills.
00:00:52 My beloved is like a gazelle or a young heart.
00:00:57 Behold, he stands behind our wall.
00:01:02 He is looking through the windows
00:01:07 and he is gazing through the lattice.
00:01:10 Y'all know what lattice is.
00:01:11 It's like that,
00:01:12 that square and that picket fence kind of like thing.
00:01:17 He's looking through the windows
00:01:20 and he's gazing, gazing through the lattice.
00:01:23 So there is distance.
00:01:26 A wall possibly that keeps us distant.
00:01:31 My beloved spoke and he said to me,
00:01:36 rise up my love, my fair one,
00:01:40 and come away.
00:01:43 Somebody say rise up.
00:01:45 - Rise up.
00:01:46 - And come away.
00:01:47 - And come away.
00:01:48 - Those are, if you have a real Bible,
00:01:49 if you want to use your,
00:01:51 whatever you used on your iPhone or your iPad,
00:01:54 whatever it is,
00:01:55 I want you to highlight those words,
00:01:57 rise up and come away.
00:02:01 So there's a process in the connection.
00:02:04 You understand?
00:02:06 Her beloved is coming, he's made the journey,
00:02:09 but there's still something between them.
00:02:13 And she has to rise up.
00:02:18 He has to, the worshiper has to rise up
00:02:23 and make a decision to come away.
00:02:25 - Yeah.
00:02:26 - Psalms 28, that's where I want to go to.
00:02:30 And we are going to read one verse,
00:02:33 Psalms 28 and verse seven.
00:02:36 28 and verse seven.
00:02:42 The Lord is my strength and he's my shield.
00:02:47 My heart trusts in him and I am held.
00:02:54 My heart trusts in him and I am held.
00:02:59 Therefore, my heart greatly rejoices.
00:03:05 And with not your song or not their song
00:03:09 or not the latest song, but with my song,
00:03:13 I will praise him with my song.
00:03:19 I want to talk for a few moments from the subject,
00:03:24 the significance of a song.
00:03:27 The significance of a song.
00:03:30 Spirit of God, I thank you for this moment.
00:03:33 I feel your presence.
00:03:35 I thank you for what you've taught us in this series.
00:03:38 And as we bring it to a close today,
00:03:41 I pray God that you will continue to impact our lives.
00:03:46 Speak to us clearly, say whatever you want to say.
00:03:50 I have an idea, but Lord, it's just an idea
00:03:53 of what you want to say.
00:03:55 Take over the room, take over the audience,
00:03:57 take over the speaker and say whatever
00:04:01 the spirit wants to say.
00:04:04 And when we leave here, may we know beyond the shadow
00:04:06 of any doubt that we have heard from you.
00:04:10 Just one word from the Lord.
00:04:13 We thank you for it today.
00:04:16 In Jesus name, amen and amen.
00:04:19 You may be seated on your way down.
00:04:20 I want to tell somebody the significance of a song.
00:04:23 The significance of a song.
00:04:31 You really cannot hardly, you can't talk about worship
00:04:37 and do a series about worship and do messages about worship
00:04:43 and not bring up the name of David
00:04:46 because David was a real worshiper.
00:04:51 And what's so cool about the Bible is that every time
00:04:54 you see the name David, we're talking about the same David.
00:04:59 So it's not like you're having to decipher,
00:05:02 was this David or was it another David?
00:05:04 No, he's the David.
00:05:06 He is mentioned nearly 800 times in the Old Testament.
00:05:11 And he's mentioned about 70 times in the New Testament.
00:05:15 Worship was, what I found out with him
00:05:19 is that worship was not something that he just did.
00:05:22 Occasionally worship was how he lived.
00:05:26 Worship was a lifestyle to David.
00:05:28 It was a decision that he made.
00:05:31 And he made that decision to not just talk about worship
00:05:36 or tell people to worship.
00:05:38 Have you ever been at the mercy of worship leaders
00:05:40 who all they did was harp and tell you,
00:05:42 you need to worship.
00:05:44 And you're looking at them like, if you would worship,
00:05:47 I might just follow you right on in.
00:05:49 But sometimes people get so busy telling people to do it
00:05:54 that they don't do that themselves.
00:05:57 But in order to live the life of a real worshiper,
00:06:00 you have to get to the point where you become more
00:06:06 and more God conscious and less and less self-conscious.
00:06:11 A lot of people don't worship
00:06:15 because they're so self-conscious.
00:06:17 Well, what if I raise my hand the wrong way?
00:06:19 And what if somebody happens to look at me
00:06:21 when I put my hand up?
00:06:23 So we've got all of this self,
00:06:25 well, I just don't do it like that.
00:06:26 Pastor Brady, that's not me.
00:06:27 That's not who I am.
00:06:28 Y'all go ahead.
00:06:29 I'll just, but wait a minute.
00:06:31 This is not about you.
00:06:32 This is about him.
00:06:34 It's about what he wants.
00:06:36 Tell somebody, give the man what he wants.
00:06:38 Put my mic back, if you will, like it was.
00:06:41 Give the man what he wants.
00:06:43 So David, even though he was a man and he knew who he was,
00:06:48 he knew he was Israel's king,
00:06:52 but he also knew that before he was Israel's king,
00:06:56 he was God's worshiper.
00:06:59 And the thing that has always impressed me about David
00:07:03 is that even though he was a king,
00:07:05 he didn't care about rank when it came to worship.
00:07:10 He, one of us, I don't know,
00:07:12 we don't even know if it was me or Pastor Joseph
00:07:14 or Pastor Travis or Pastor Chris,
00:07:16 somebody was talking about David and how,
00:07:20 maybe it was me.
00:07:21 I think it might've been me.
00:07:22 He was, it might've been me.
00:07:25 I don't know.
00:07:26 But he was, how he was bringing the ark back
00:07:29 and how he got to the place and his wife, Michael,
00:07:33 she was watching outside of the window
00:07:34 and she was humiliated
00:07:36 because he was going so crazy in worship.
00:07:39 And he ended up stripping off his clothes
00:07:42 and he was in the street worshiping with common people.
00:07:45 And here he is, the king,
00:07:47 she was totally insulted and just thought it was horrible
00:07:51 because she would have never seen her father
00:07:53 who was Saul worship like that.
00:07:57 And so, but what I loved about David,
00:07:59 and as I still do, as I think about it,
00:08:01 he only cared about rank on the battlefield.
00:08:04 When it came time for battle,
00:08:06 that is when he cared about rank.
00:08:09 But when it came time for worship,
00:08:11 he said, "I am one of y'all and I am a worshiper."
00:08:16 And he would use his words so articulately.
00:08:20 I love that about him because he could talk his way
00:08:23 right straight up into the heart of God.
00:08:25 Even when God was upset with him,
00:08:29 he could still talk his way into the,
00:08:32 he had a way with words.
00:08:34 And he not only talked,
00:08:36 but he sang his way into the presence of God.
00:08:40 Many, he's had many titles,
00:08:42 but one of his titles is the sweet singer of Israel
00:08:47 or the sweet psalmist of Israel.
00:08:50 As a matter of fact, there was not a prophet,
00:08:52 there wasn't a priest, there wasn't a king.
00:08:54 In all of Israel's history,
00:08:56 that was more involved with musical expression
00:09:01 when it comes to worship than David was.
00:09:04 He was the first.
00:09:06 David had the ability to release his innermost thoughts
00:09:11 and his innermost feelings.
00:09:15 And he could do that through a song.
00:09:17 David had a way of saying stuff
00:09:19 that would make you be like,
00:09:20 "Dad, it's exactly what I'm trying to say."
00:09:24 You ever been around somebody and they talk
00:09:26 and you're like, "That's what I mean.
00:09:27 I mean, I didn't have the way to articulate that,
00:09:30 but I get that's exactly what I'm trying to say."
00:09:32 Well, so that was David.
00:09:34 David knew how to articulate things to God.
00:09:37 He said, "Lord, how?"
00:09:38 When he was in a pressing time, he said,
00:09:40 "Lord, how are they increased that trouble me?
00:09:42 Many are they that rise up against me.
00:09:45 Many there be that say of my soul."
00:09:47 There is no hope for him in God.
00:09:49 And then he pauses and he says,
00:09:50 "But thou, oh Lord, you're a shield for me.
00:09:54 And you are the glory and you are the lifter of my head."
00:09:59 Psalm after Psalm after Psalm
00:10:02 was written by the Psalmist David.
00:10:05 When music is anointed,
00:10:10 it releases miracles.
00:10:14 It releases the miraculous.
00:10:17 When music is anointed, it releases fear.
00:10:22 It releases anxiety.
00:10:25 It releases torment and tension and anger
00:10:29 and frustration.
00:10:31 How do you know?
00:10:32 Because I've walked into the middle of it many a time.
00:10:35 And as I walked into it,
00:10:37 I could feel things snapping and breaking
00:10:40 because I might've came frustrated,
00:10:42 but just getting into the atmosphere of anointed music
00:10:47 and not just music, but singers.
00:10:50 As minstrels began to play
00:10:53 and as singers began to sing,
00:10:56 yokes and burdens and bondages and habits
00:10:59 and chains and fetters and strongholds,
00:11:03 they can shatter in that kind of atmosphere.
00:11:07 And David knew the power that comes
00:11:11 when people worship God musically.
00:11:15 He knew that the power,
00:11:17 that there was a measure of power that was released
00:11:20 as people would sing together.
00:11:22 And David, therefore, he had a song
00:11:25 for every occasion in his life.
00:11:27 In happy times, he would sing things like,
00:11:30 "My soul shall be joyful in the Lord,
00:11:34 and it shall, my soul shall rejoice in his salvation."
00:11:39 In times of uncertainty, David would say,
00:11:41 "My heart is steadfast, oh God,
00:11:44 I will sing and I will give praise to you."
00:11:48 In troubled times, he would say,
00:11:50 "The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord.
00:11:54 He is their strength,
00:11:56 and he is their help in the time of trouble."
00:12:01 When things got completely unstable,
00:12:05 he would say, "Cast your burden on the Lord,
00:12:08 for he shall sustain you.
00:12:10 He shall never," somebody say never.
00:12:13 - Never.
00:12:14 - He will never permit the righteous to be moved.
00:12:17 When he needed direction, he said,
00:12:20 "For the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord."
00:12:25 So David had a song for every different season
00:12:28 that he found himself in.
00:12:30 He had a song while he was running from the king,
00:12:33 who was Saul at that time.
00:12:35 And then he also had a song once he became the king.
00:12:40 And if he didn't have one, he wrote one.
00:12:43 I said, if he didn't have one, he wrote one.
00:12:47 We have no historic record of professional musicians
00:12:52 before the time of David.
00:12:56 Up until his day,
00:12:58 much of the music that happened in the gatherings
00:13:01 was done by, most of it was done by women.
00:13:06 It was Miriam who led the women in singing and in dancing
00:13:11 when the Egyptians were drowned in the Red Sea.
00:13:15 She picked up her tambourine and began to celebrate.
00:13:19 And the women celebrated with her.
00:13:21 But when David came on the scene,
00:13:24 David led men to express their innermost feelings to God
00:13:29 through music.
00:13:32 Of the 38,000 Levites that he chose to serve in the temple,
00:13:37 4,000 were menstruals.
00:13:41 4,000 were musicians.
00:13:44 - Wow.
00:13:45 - Can you imagine?
00:13:46 I think we might have to hire a few more.
00:13:49 (congregation laughing)
00:13:51 David was the one that established formal music in worship.
00:13:56 He founded musical schools under the presidency of Asa.
00:14:02 He appointed choirs.
00:14:04 I want a choir here.
00:14:05 I want an orchestra there.
00:14:08 He employed full-time music directors
00:14:12 to service the tabernacle of David.
00:14:17 Why did he do that?
00:14:18 Because he learned that, and he learned early in life
00:14:23 that there was an anointing and there was a power
00:14:26 that you could get of God to sit down on music.
00:14:30 He learned that personally first.
00:14:33 He was what they would call the court musician
00:14:37 when Saul was king.
00:14:38 And when Saul was absolutely tormented by evil spirits,
00:14:42 it was David that they would call.
00:14:44 Somebody get that young boy David.
00:14:46 Tell him to come in here and start,
00:14:47 pick up his harp and start playing.
00:14:49 And as he would play, the atmosphere would change
00:14:53 because anointed musicians changed the atmosphere.
00:14:58 He watched Saul as he would go from being tormented
00:15:03 to becoming tender in his spirit
00:15:06 because I don't care how tough that you or I may be,
00:15:11 God, his anointing and his power
00:15:13 has a way of breaking every last one of us down.
00:15:17 David used music to calm people.
00:15:22 He used music to inspire them to respond to God.
00:15:27 Look at somebody and say, "Respond to God."
00:15:29 - Respond to God.
00:15:30 - He used music to help people to respond to God.
00:15:35 Over 70 times he used the word, "Sing."
00:15:40 And most of those times it was in the form of a command.
00:15:45 It was not a suggestion.
00:15:47 Being a student of human nature,
00:15:51 he knew that it could be difficult
00:15:54 to gird up the thoughts of your mind at any given moment
00:15:59 and completely focus on God.
00:16:02 So he called for us to sing.
00:16:05 Why?
00:16:06 Because he knew that the song is what could bridge the gap
00:16:10 between the pressures of life and the pleasures of worship.
00:16:15 It is a song that gets between the pressures of life
00:16:19 and the pleasures of worship.
00:16:21 He knew that the song would be your fire escape.
00:16:26 When life got too hard and when life begins to burn you up,
00:16:31 it is your song that becomes your way of escape.
00:16:35 How many know what I'm talking about?
00:16:37 Have you ever felt like you were in a,
00:16:39 your life was on fire, your house was on fire,
00:16:42 your marriage was on fire,
00:16:45 but if you could just get in your car and drive
00:16:48 and sing the song of God, it would create an exit for you,
00:16:53 an exit that wasn't even there, but now the exit is there.
00:16:57 Why?
00:16:58 Because of our song.
00:16:59 Worship has been like therapy to me.
00:17:04 When I was coming up in church, you didn't have therapists,
00:17:07 and people preached against all of that,
00:17:09 it's craziness, they preached against all of that,
00:17:12 but I think a lot of people need therapists today, okay?
00:17:16 I'm at it, therapists.
00:17:18 I have one, I need one, you might need one, it's okay.
00:17:23 Because therapy can be redeeming and it can be salvaging
00:17:29 and it can be rehabilitating and it can be restorative.
00:17:33 Look at somebody and say, "I must worship."
00:17:36 No, I don't think they understand.
00:17:38 Look at them and tell them, "No, I'm telling you, I must."
00:17:42 You might not like me if I don't worship, okay?
00:17:47 I will be a different person.
00:17:48 Absolutely, absolutely.
00:17:52 I must worship.
00:17:54 The hour has come and now is, the Bible says that,
00:17:59 they that worship must worship.
00:18:01 That means it's essential for me, okay?
00:18:04 I'm better, I'm better, I'm a better mother when I worship,
00:18:08 I'm a better wife when I worship,
00:18:10 I'm a better leader, a better pastor, a better preacher,
00:18:13 a better whatever it is, I must worship.
00:18:18 I have what I'm just a better human after I worship.
00:18:23 Now don't y'all go out of here
00:18:24 and get in a fight in the parking lot,
00:18:26 'cause you just worship.
00:18:27 Truly though, I feel like I'm saying today,
00:18:32 whatever measure I have sanity,
00:18:35 it is because of the therapy of worship
00:18:38 and being in the presence of God.
00:18:41 Worship is a part of what pulled my mind back together
00:18:44 on countless occasions.
00:18:46 Worship is the reason that I refuse to be bitter.
00:18:49 Worship is the reason that I refuse
00:18:52 to walk around with unforgiveness.
00:18:54 Worship flushes all of that out of you.
00:18:58 Come on, y'all know what I'm telling the truth today.
00:19:02 That's why I can't come into the house of God
00:19:05 acting all bougie and all special and all professional,
00:19:10 because I remember the nights that I laid in my bed,
00:19:13 crying and groaning and tears running down my face
00:19:16 until the Holy Ghost moved in and pushed back powers
00:19:20 and he pushed back principalities and saying,
00:19:24 "That's it, that's enough, enough is enough."
00:19:26 Lose her mind, lose her anxiety.
00:19:30 Oh, you've come as far as you're coming.
00:19:33 And in my name, I back you up, devil.
00:19:36 That's God coming in, the Holy Ghost.
00:19:39 The Holy Ghost in you will fight for you.
00:19:41 Give her her peace back.
00:19:43 Press down, shake, you're a thief and I caught you.
00:19:47 Give it back to her sevenfold.
00:19:49 Her joy, give her joy back.
00:19:52 Give her victory back.
00:19:54 Give her her hope back.
00:19:56 And when the enemy came in like a flood,
00:19:59 the Spirit of the Lord raised up a standard
00:20:02 and that's why I praise him.
00:20:04 And that's why it isn't optional for me.
00:20:07 God did for me what nobody would do for me.
00:20:11 And you can sit up here and act like he didn't do it for you
00:20:13 if you want to, but I will bless the Lord
00:20:17 because I know who did it for me.
00:20:26 And there's no way in the world,
00:20:29 there's no way in the world that you can think
00:20:31 about his faithfulness to you and you not worship.
00:20:36 If you give it any kind, even a little bit of a thought,
00:20:39 something breaks out in your spirit
00:20:42 because when you start thinking of God
00:20:44 and how many times he showed up for you
00:20:46 when people didn't show up for you, you will do something.
00:20:51 I said, you will do something.
00:20:54 We don't all sing, we don't all dance,
00:20:57 we don't all get loud, but I'm gonna tell you something.
00:21:00 We are instructed in Romans 12 and one,
00:21:03 present your body a living, not a dead sacrifice.
00:21:08 Sometimes you come in, we don't know if you're dead or alive.
00:21:13 He dead today.
00:21:15 But he wants a living sacrifice.
00:21:20 Your body, your body, your body, your hands,
00:21:23 your feet, your mouth, present it.
00:21:26 It's a present to him.
00:21:29 Wrap a bow on it and say, God, you're worthy of it all.
00:21:34 But if you dare, if you come in like you are dead,
00:21:40 I'm telling you, if you'll think of the goodness of Jesus
00:21:42 and what he's done for you, something will make you say,
00:21:44 God, I thank you.
00:21:46 And when you start reminding yourself
00:21:49 of all that he has been, all that he is
00:21:51 and all that he will yet be,
00:21:52 you will somehow find a way to respond to his faithfulness.
00:21:57 Your little lips, yes, whatever,
00:22:01 is something will come and you'll utter something
00:22:04 out of your lips.
00:22:07 Oh, I know you're quiet and I know I'm bashful.
00:22:10 I'm shy, I'm conservative, I'm self-conscious,
00:22:15 but there is something, there is a thing
00:22:19 that God can do for you that will produce a praise
00:22:24 or a cry or a thank you, Jesus, that refuses to be quiet.
00:22:29 I'm telling you, there is a praise.
00:22:37 When God gets through making a way
00:22:40 where there seemed to be no way,
00:22:43 when he gets through being your mighty counselor,
00:22:46 your provider, your shield, your defender,
00:22:50 the God that fights for you,
00:22:52 when he gets through wiping the tears from your eyes
00:22:55 and calming your nerves down,
00:22:57 when he gets through giving you the house
00:22:59 and the job and the favor,
00:23:01 when he gets through taking care of you,
00:23:04 there is something in you that makes you say,
00:23:08 oh, let me just say, when the same spirit
00:23:12 that raised Christ from the dead yanks your life up,
00:23:17 it won't matter what you're going through.
00:23:20 You will lay it all aside and say, I'm coming out of this.
00:23:24 I know, I know what victory in the making feels like.
00:23:28 You will praise God until even the devil
00:23:31 is going to wonder, what does he know that I don't know?
00:23:35 You'll praise him because you know
00:23:38 that God in your trouble surrounded you
00:23:41 with songs of deliverance.
00:23:44 And had he not done that,
00:23:45 you or I might not have been here today.
00:23:49 (congregation cheering)
00:23:51 But in between you and fear, God slipped a song.
00:23:56 In between you and poverty, he slipped a song.
00:24:00 In between you and depression, he put a song.
00:24:03 In between you and your enemies,
00:24:05 you came to church and you sat down next to somebody.
00:24:08 You couldn't even sing one yourself,
00:24:10 but he put a song close to you.
00:24:13 You can hear it on both sides of you.
00:24:15 Oh, when those that wanted you dead were trying to get you,
00:24:20 God put a song of deliverance, a shield, a song, a storm,
00:24:25 whatever in your storm, he put a song of deliverance.
00:24:29 In the face of your diagnosis, he stuck a song.
00:24:34 In the face of abuse, he put a song.
00:24:38 Why?
00:24:39 Because there is deliverance in singing your song.
00:24:44 Sometimes, sometimes sinners are arrested
00:24:51 through a song quicker than they are
00:24:54 through the preaching of the word.
00:24:56 That's true because there is something about music
00:25:03 that reaches into the soul of mankind.
00:25:06 It reaches deep into the soul of mankind.
00:25:09 Sometimes just listening to another person sing
00:25:13 can reduce you to tears.
00:25:15 It might even just be on the radio.
00:25:17 It might be a recording, but you hear it,
00:25:20 and all of a sudden something breaks in you,
00:25:22 something that you knew needed to break,
00:25:24 but you felt like you couldn't get a breakthrough.
00:25:27 And when they sing, all of a sudden, next thing you know,
00:25:29 you move from just listening to participating.
00:25:33 Some of you come to church,
00:25:35 and for the first minute or two, you're just listening.
00:25:38 But as you hear everybody else begin to sing,
00:25:40 you start participating in the song.
00:25:43 David wasn't much for what we would call
00:25:46 maybe a preacher today,
00:25:48 but he could move his listeners with a song.
00:25:53 Faith can be rekindled by a song.
00:25:57 Hope and courage is rekindled by a song.
00:26:02 Contact with God and your relationship with him
00:26:05 can be rekindled by a song.
00:26:08 Look at somebody and tell them,
00:26:09 whatever you do, don't lose your soul.
00:26:12 Israel, think about it.
00:26:18 Israel came out of Egypt with a song.
00:26:21 Israel came through the wilderness with a song.
00:26:26 David lived for years in the land of the Philistines
00:26:31 surrounded by their idol gods,
00:26:34 but he kept his song in the midst of all of the idolatry.
00:26:39 And he ended up conquering the very ones
00:26:42 that were in there because he refused to hang his harp
00:26:46 on the willow tree and just say,
00:26:48 I'm just gonna be like they are.
00:26:49 It's just easier to be like they are.
00:26:52 No, instead he played his harp and he sang,
00:26:55 and he conquered the enemy with a song.
00:26:58 Is there an enemy that you could sit up in your bed
00:27:02 at night, lift up your voice loudly,
00:27:05 even if you can't carry a tune,
00:27:07 just start wailing and singing
00:27:10 and God causing your enemy to fall at your right hand
00:27:15 and fall at your left hand.
00:27:17 David taught through a song.
00:27:21 He taught Israel that their God
00:27:23 was not like every other God.
00:27:26 He taught them this, our God is not like the God,
00:27:30 the heathen gods that are surrounding nations.
00:27:35 For the Lord, our God is a great God
00:27:39 and he is greatly to be praised.
00:27:43 He is feared and he is above, we sing about it today.
00:27:47 He is above all gods.
00:27:50 He taught them that honor and majesty are before him,
00:27:54 strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
00:27:57 Look at somebody and tell him,
00:27:58 you sitting next to beauty today.
00:28:00 He taught them, he taught them that the earth is the Lord's
00:28:06 and the fullness thereof, the world
00:28:09 and those that dwell therein.
00:28:11 He taught them the Lord is in his holy temple.
00:28:15 The Lord's throne is in heaven,
00:28:17 but then he turned around and he taught them,
00:28:19 but he is near to those who are of a broken heart.
00:28:23 He taught a balanced concept of God
00:28:27 and he did it through a variety of songs
00:28:30 that he wrote for Israel to sing.
00:28:33 David knew that the more people would sing about God,
00:28:38 the more they would come to know him.
00:28:40 Most, and I think that's true,
00:28:43 most of what I initially learned about God,
00:28:46 I didn't learn from the Bible.
00:28:48 I didn't learn from the preacher.
00:28:51 I learned from the song service.
00:28:53 And as people began to sing, they would tell the story.
00:29:00 You have heard of little Moses in the bulrush.
00:29:03 You have heard of fearless David and his slain.
00:29:06 You have heard the story told of dreaming Joseph
00:29:10 and of Jonah and the well you often sing.
00:29:13 That's kind of songs I had to learn.
00:29:14 But anyway, I learned them.
00:29:16 I learned them and I learned all about that
00:29:18 before I ever opened the Bible
00:29:20 and began to study about those characters.
00:29:23 And so I learned from the song.
00:29:25 Singing requires hearing.
00:29:28 Hello, singing requires hearing.
00:29:30 It requires then, it requires learning.
00:29:33 And then it requires repeating.
00:29:36 Hearing, learning and repeating what you have learned.
00:29:41 And truth that is sung becomes truth that is reinforced
00:29:48 and ultimately it becomes truth that is remembered.
00:29:52 Do I need to say that again?
00:29:53 Truth that is sung becomes truth that is reinforced
00:29:57 and then it becomes truth that is remembered.
00:30:01 If you started singing all the songs you know,
00:30:03 you might be shocked to know how much Bible you know
00:30:07 because you got it out of a song, okay?
00:30:11 That don't mean you shouldn't read your Bible.
00:30:12 Let me make that very clear.
00:30:14 You gotta make it clear for folk today
00:30:15 because folk will just say, "Oh yeah,
00:30:17 "I just gotta sing, that's all I know."
00:30:20 David taught people how to shout.
00:30:22 He said, "Shout for joy and be glad."
00:30:26 He taught him, "Clap your hands, all ye people."
00:30:29 He taught him, "Offer sacrifices.
00:30:31 "Therefore I will offer the sacrifice of joy
00:30:35 "in the tabernacle."
00:30:37 He taught them to sing, "I will sing."
00:30:40 He said, "Yes, I will sing the praises of the Lord."
00:30:44 He taught us that singing was a tool
00:30:47 and that we should maximize that tool
00:30:51 to the best of our ability.
00:30:53 See, listen, the desire to worship is in all of us.
00:30:58 It matters what we worship.
00:31:01 We're all gonna worship something, okay?
00:31:05 It does you a whole lot better if you will worship a God
00:31:09 that can help you as opposed to one that cannot.
00:31:12 So we all have the desire
00:31:14 and it's not just women that have that desire.
00:31:17 Men have that desire, okay?
00:31:19 So male and female, we all have that instinctive need
00:31:24 to worship, but the execution of that worship,
00:31:30 for some people, it is difficult.
00:31:32 I say it is difficult because here's something that happens.
00:31:37 Worship demands that you get in touch
00:31:40 with your innermost feelings, okay?
00:31:45 Praise, you can be drunk and run in here
00:31:49 and holler and shout and not be in touch
00:31:52 with your innermost feelings
00:31:54 'cause the Bible said the only qualification to praise
00:31:57 is let everything that has.
00:31:58 Right, worship is completely different though, okay?
00:32:02 Worship, you have to get up close.
00:32:04 You have to get into the face of God.
00:32:06 And so there has to be, your innermost,
00:32:10 you've gotta be in touch with your innermost feelings.
00:32:13 And a lot of people are uncomfortable
00:32:16 with getting in touch with their innermost feeling.
00:32:19 It also requires that we put our feelings into words
00:32:24 and not everybody is gifted
00:32:28 at putting their feelings into words.
00:32:31 You remember when you were dating
00:32:33 or those of you that are dating
00:32:35 and you heard a song on the radio
00:32:38 and you and him or you and her or whatever,
00:32:42 y'all knew, that's our song, that's our song.
00:32:45 That's our jam right there.
00:32:47 You knew that, why?
00:32:49 Because that song said things
00:32:51 that you didn't have the ability to articulate, okay?
00:32:55 But words to the worshiper
00:32:58 is what hammers and nails are to a carpenter.
00:33:02 Words are a part of your toolbox.
00:33:07 Words will broaden things.
00:33:09 Words will intensify things.
00:33:11 Words will enlarge and open up things.
00:33:14 Words will add fuel to the fire.
00:33:18 Are y'all hearing me today?
00:33:19 I often say, I often tell you,
00:33:23 look for ways to say the same word in many different ways.
00:33:28 Because I say, you can say, I love you, I love you,
00:33:32 I love you, God, I love you, God.
00:33:34 Or you can say, I adore you and I'm passionate about you.
00:33:37 Oh God, I'm infatuated by you.
00:33:39 You enamor me.
00:33:40 I esteem you, oh God.
00:33:42 I exalt you, I treasure you.
00:33:45 You are the apple of my eye.
00:33:48 You could say, God, you've been water in a dry place.
00:33:53 When I was in a dry place, you were water to me.
00:33:56 You were a well springing up to me into everlasting life.
00:33:59 You are a rock when I find myself in a weary land.
00:34:03 You are strength when I'm weak.
00:34:05 You're bread when I'm hungry.
00:34:06 You are water when I'm thirsty.
00:34:09 You are so beautiful to me.
00:34:11 All of those are ways of saying, I love you, Lord.
00:34:16 And I'm taking it to the next level.
00:34:19 Why?
00:34:20 Because if you don't take love to the next level,
00:34:23 love becomes stale.
00:34:25 Ain't nobody saying nothing back right there.
00:34:31 Look at somebody say, keep it fresh.
00:34:35 Here's what I want you to think about.
00:34:37 Think of it like this.
00:34:38 Worship, worship, levels of worship.
00:34:43 I want you to say, I want you to think of it as this.
00:34:46 Worship has rooms, okay?
00:34:49 Worship has rooms.
00:34:51 And words are the keys that unlock the door
00:34:57 that lets you into the room.
00:35:01 Oh, are y'all following me right?
00:35:04 How many of you know you've talked your way into rooms?
00:35:07 Because you use your words.
00:35:09 See, some people will never know what's behind
00:35:15 door number three because they didn't use their keys
00:35:20 to unlock door number two or door number one.
00:35:24 Tell somebody, use your words.
00:35:28 Your words are the keys.
00:35:30 Your, and listen, your expression to God,
00:35:34 it needs to increase as your knowledge of God increases.
00:35:39 Hello, it's okay to say dada and mama
00:35:43 when you are eight months old.
00:35:44 But when you are 18, you should have some other kind
00:35:48 of verbiage that you can use.
00:35:51 And if you don't, it is a sign that you are deficient.
00:35:59 I said it's a sign that there is a deficiency
00:36:01 that is happening in your life.
00:36:03 So instead of stopping with the Lord,
00:36:05 I thank you, I thank you.
00:36:08 Say God, I celebrate you.
00:36:10 I honor you.
00:36:12 I appreciate you.
00:36:13 My appreciation of you goes up every day.
00:36:16 You are God alone.
00:36:18 You are God all by yourself.
00:36:20 No God like you.
00:36:21 God, there's no God beside you.
00:36:23 You are a bright light in my darkest place.
00:36:27 Lord, if it had not been for you that was on my side,
00:36:30 I would have been swallowed up.
00:36:33 Look at somebody and say, plan for praise.
00:36:36 Plan for praise.
00:36:40 You plan for lunch, you plan for dinner.
00:36:43 Some of y'all planning right now.
00:36:44 You plan on what clothes to wear.
00:36:47 You plan on vacation.
00:36:49 You plan on retirement.
00:36:51 You have got to plan on worship.
00:36:54 Otherwise, worship becomes stale
00:36:57 and nobody wants to do it because it is stale.
00:37:00 Worship should be a progression.
00:37:03 It should be an ascension.
00:37:05 As you notice on this platform every Sunday,
00:37:09 we do our best to make worship be an ascension
00:37:13 and every round goes higher and every round goes higher.
00:37:17 Worship should build.
00:37:19 Worship should intensify.
00:37:21 It is a crescendo.
00:37:23 Worship should absolutely move.
00:37:25 Song of Solomon said it today.
00:37:27 My beloved spake and said unto me,
00:37:30 rise up, rise up my love, my fair one.
00:37:35 Rise up and come away.
00:37:39 Real worshipers, rise up and come away.
00:37:44 You can stand on the stage and say,
00:37:48 that's a real worshiper right there
00:37:51 'cause they have rose up and they have left the building.
00:37:56 Physically, they didn't leave the building.
00:38:00 Their body is still there,
00:38:02 but you can tell something about them
00:38:06 has connected to the source of life.
00:38:09 They don't care what we're saying.
00:38:11 They don't care what we're singing.
00:38:13 They don't care what's going on.
00:38:14 I've connected.
00:38:15 Rise up and come away.
00:38:18 Look at somebody and tell them,
00:38:20 you gotta move up and you gotta rise up.
00:38:23 Look at somebody else and tell them,
00:38:26 he's waiting on you in the spirit.
00:38:29 Every time you come in here,
00:38:32 God is waiting on you in the spirit.
00:38:34 Some of you never connect with him
00:38:37 because you don't rise up and move.
00:38:40 But if you understand that he's there
00:38:42 and he is waiting on you,
00:38:44 it is not good enough to come into the building
00:38:48 if you do not rise up and come away.
00:38:52 It's religious tradition
00:38:54 and it makes the word of God of none effect.
00:38:57 So you gotta come away.
00:38:59 Come away from rot.
00:39:00 Come away from carnality.
00:39:03 Come away from foolishness.
00:39:05 Come away from your to-do list.
00:39:08 Come away from who's here and who's not here
00:39:10 and what are they wearing
00:39:12 and they should have added this to that outfit.
00:39:15 Come away from the way you talk.
00:39:17 Come away from the way you walk.
00:39:19 Come away from the way you act.
00:39:21 Come away from the way that you treat others.
00:39:24 Your deliverance, your restoration,
00:39:27 your destiny is waiting for you
00:39:30 to rise up and to come away.
00:39:34 God says, I ain't doing it all, okay?
00:39:37 I am not doing it all.
00:39:39 Hello, look at somebody and tell them,
00:39:41 God wants you to meet him.
00:39:43 God said, I ain't doing it all.
00:39:46 I want you to meet me.
00:39:48 I am in the spirit.
00:39:49 I am right here.
00:39:51 I want you to tap into that
00:39:53 and the only way that you can actually meet him
00:39:55 is being willing to rise up and to come away.
00:39:59 He's calling you to rise up and to come away.
00:40:03 Why?
00:40:04 Because he's got a blessing for you today.
00:40:06 He wants to enlarge your territory.
00:40:08 He wants to empower you.
00:40:11 He wants to feed you.
00:40:12 He wants to grow you.
00:40:13 He wants to pour out his anointing on you fresh and new.
00:40:17 Behold, he comes to me and he peers through the lattice.
00:40:22 I'm close, but I've come this far.
00:40:26 Now you got to come.
00:40:27 Oh, you're waiting for him to hit you
00:40:33 like a freight train, right?
00:40:35 Stop that foolishness.
00:40:39 Go meet him.
00:40:42 Look at somebody, say, go meet him.
00:40:44 God says, I ain't doing it all, okay?
00:40:47 I'm not going to do it all.
00:40:48 There is a measure of responsibility
00:40:51 that is on you to rise up and to come away.
00:40:56 What you get out of a service
00:41:00 depends on what you are willing to rise up
00:41:03 and how much you're willing to rise up
00:41:06 and how much you are willing to come away.
00:41:08 What you get out of the service
00:41:11 is based on how much you are willing to say,
00:41:14 I'm putting that thought down
00:41:15 and I'm giving God preeminence in my thought
00:41:19 and I am going, I'm moving.
00:41:22 It's like an escalator.
00:41:23 When you step on the escalator,
00:41:25 it takes you into places and you can look down
00:41:29 and you can see where other people are
00:41:31 or you can just focus and go higher and higher and higher.
00:41:36 Woo, look at somebody and tell them you gotta move.
00:41:38 You gotta move.
00:41:39 You gotta move.
00:41:40 Don't come in here sitting all still.
00:41:42 I loved it when I saw Nakia jump up out of her seat today
00:41:45 and she ran down to this altar,
00:41:47 spinning it and turning it around.
00:41:49 Let me tell you something.
00:41:51 You have got to move.
00:41:52 I know a real worshiper.
00:41:54 Based on the way that they move,
00:41:56 you cannot sit there with your lips all sealed.
00:41:59 (congregation cheering)
00:42:03 You're stale, you're stagnant.
00:42:05 You're still saying the same old things.
00:42:09 You're doing the same old things
00:42:11 and you're not looking for more keys
00:42:13 so that you can open up more doors.
00:42:16 I am gonna look for keys.
00:42:18 I'm gonna find a key that fits that door,
00:42:21 that will take me to an opportunity to walk into that.
00:42:25 Look at somebody telling you you gotta keep it fresh.
00:42:28 And a lot of people don't.
00:42:33 And that's why when we say open your mouth
00:42:35 and give him the best praise that you have,
00:42:37 it's like a blanket falls.
00:42:39 When the praise team and the worship leaders,
00:42:42 when they say open your mouth and sing your song.
00:42:46 (humming)
00:42:49 And it's like a blanket falls on the room.
00:42:53 Why?
00:42:54 Because out of the abundance of a heart,
00:42:56 the mouth speak it.
00:42:58 And hear me today.
00:43:01 You run out of things to say
00:43:04 when you're not used to talking to him.
00:43:06 (audience cheering)
00:43:09 Woo, y'all can't clap 'cause I got you.
00:43:13 Your nose is bleeding, I punched you in the face.
00:43:16 Blood is everywhere.
00:43:18 I got you right there.
00:43:22 But David knew that if people would sing his songs,
00:43:27 it would give them a ready-made vocabulary
00:43:31 that they could use to worship the Lord.
00:43:35 Go home and study the song of David.
00:43:38 See if you can't find that ready-made vocabulary.
00:43:43 David got people to sing individually
00:43:46 because he did it himself.
00:43:48 But then he brought them together
00:43:51 and they began to sing corporately.
00:43:53 Why did David work so hard to incorporate
00:43:57 and to implement worship amongst the people of God?
00:44:02 Because he knew that real worship challenges people.
00:44:06 He knew that real worship changes people.
00:44:10 He knew that real worship would put an edge on you
00:44:14 so that you need to come through the class,
00:44:17 to pass the test, to get the job,
00:44:21 to have the courage to lead.
00:44:23 Our worship should be so passionate
00:44:26 that we draw nations with our worship.
00:44:30 Singing is the tool.
00:44:32 It was the tool for David, but transformation was the task.
00:44:37 I said singing is the tool,
00:44:39 but the reason we do that is so that we can be changed
00:44:43 from glory to glory to glory.
00:44:46 And when the people sang, God transformed them.
00:44:51 And he does that to this very day.
00:44:53 So when the enemy comes in to steal your song,
00:44:57 hold on to it and sing louder than you have ever sang before.
00:45:02 Sometimes all David had to give God was a song.
00:45:09 When he failed, when he felt defeated,
00:45:16 when he felt like the enemy was coming in like a flood,
00:45:19 when they had him surrounded on all sides,
00:45:23 all he could give God was a song.
00:45:25 But when he gave him that song,
00:45:28 he gave him everything that he had.
00:45:33 How many times have you walked in here?
00:45:35 And all you could give God was a song,
00:45:39 but it was everything.
00:45:42 And just 'cause you ain't jumping over there
00:45:45 like they're jumping over here,
00:45:47 does not give me the right to tell you
00:45:52 that you ain't worshiping.
00:45:54 'Cause sometimes it's a praise all by itself
00:46:00 for us to make it into them.
00:46:03 (congregation cheering)
00:46:06 You know what I mean?
00:46:09 The very fact that I'm here, God,
00:46:12 is a praise to your name.
00:46:16 And when David didn't have anything to give God but a song,
00:46:21 he wasn't the slightest bit intimidated
00:46:24 because he knew the power of a song.
00:46:28 And he knew the power of praise,
00:46:30 and he knew the power of worship.
00:46:32 He knew that worship had its own navigational system.
00:46:36 And when you are a real worshiper,
00:46:38 you don't even have to tell God where you are.
00:46:42 But if you will just begin to worship,
00:46:44 that navigational system will kick in
00:46:47 and he will find you right where you are,
00:46:50 in the middle of fear, in the middle of worry,
00:46:54 in the middle of depression,
00:46:56 in the middle of relationship issues.
00:46:59 If you will worship, he will cause God to find you.
00:47:03 And when he finds you, he will not leave you where you are,
00:47:07 but he will navigate you out of that mess.
00:47:10 Have you ever been lost?
00:47:12 And if you hadn't had your GPS,
00:47:14 you might not have known how to get out of the neighborhood
00:47:16 that you found yourself in.
00:47:18 But when you tapped into your GPS,
00:47:21 when you tapped into your navigational system,
00:47:24 it led you right out, twists and turns and all,
00:47:28 but it led you out of the mess
00:47:30 that you had driven yourself into.
00:47:32 He will navigate you through the storm with worship.
00:47:36 He'll navigate you through the tempter's snare,
00:47:40 through worship.
00:47:41 He'll navigate you out of your lowest lows with worship.
00:47:45 He'll chart the course.
00:47:47 He'll maneuver for you.
00:47:49 He'll cross over some things.
00:47:51 He'll sail you right through other things.
00:47:54 And he'll talk to you every time you get to a turning point.
00:47:58 If he ain't talking, don't turn.
00:48:00 (congregation cheering)
00:48:04 Woo, I wish that somebody who knew what I was talking about
00:48:10 would thank him for being a speaking God,
00:48:13 a God that will tell you, make a turn here.
00:48:17 Stop, back up, go straight ahead.
00:48:20 (congregation cheering)
00:48:23 He does that for worshipers.
00:48:25 David knew that wherever you were,
00:48:31 in your faults, in your failures, in your poor decisions,
00:48:36 he knew wherever you were that God would find you.
00:48:40 And he knew all of these things personally.
00:48:43 He knew them firsthand.
00:48:47 He knew them because he'd experienced them.
00:48:50 He knew if you're going into battle,
00:48:53 the best way to go into battle is not going in,
00:48:57 talking about, watch me bring down this Goliath.
00:49:00 Hey guys, watch this, watch what I'm about to do.
00:49:04 He did not say, hey, watch this, watch this, watch this.
00:49:07 He didn't say, hey, check out my aim, watch.
00:49:10 Getting ready to bring that joker right down.
00:49:14 He did not say, I got what it takes.
00:49:17 So just watch.
00:49:20 He didn't say all that stuff.
00:49:22 Because when you say that kind of crazy stuff,
00:49:25 you disqualify yourself from divine assistance.
00:49:28 Oh, how many times have we disqualified ourselves,
00:49:34 thinking I got this?
00:49:35 If you ain't thinking I got this in the name of Jesus,
00:49:39 then you ain't thinking, and you ain't got it.
00:49:43 (congregation applauding)
00:49:45 When David went into battle, he said,
00:49:47 you go in like this, you go in praising.
00:49:49 You go in saying, the Lord who delivered me
00:49:53 from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear,
00:49:56 he will deliver me from the hand of this big old Philistine
00:50:01 that's standing up in my face.
00:50:04 That's why God showed up for David,
00:50:07 because David bragged on God.
00:50:10 Look at somebody and tell him,
00:50:11 you gotta brag on God, not just in here.
00:50:15 You got to brag on God out there.
00:50:17 David bragged on God.
00:50:20 He spoke well of God.
00:50:23 You've gotta speak well of God.
00:50:25 Even when you're in troubled times,
00:50:27 you've gotta stand there and say, my anchor, it will hold.
00:50:32 I know that my anchor will hold.
00:50:35 We might toss a little, we might go a little to the right
00:50:39 and a little to the left,
00:50:40 but devil at the end of the day, my anchor is gonna hold.
00:50:45 My anchor, tell somebody, my anchor will hold.
00:50:48 I got a little bit of trouble, but trust me on this.
00:50:52 My anchor will hold, 'cause I'm not anchoring in myself.
00:50:57 My anchor grips the solid.
00:51:01 (congregation applauding)
00:51:04 You all ought to grab like you're holding on.
00:51:09 Tell the devil, I'm gonna hold on.
00:51:12 You watch and see if I don't hold on.
00:51:14 The devil hates saints that know how to hold on.
00:51:19 Look at somebody and tell him, hold on.
00:51:21 While you're rocking, hold on.
00:51:25 While you're shaking, hold on.
00:51:27 While you're crying, hold on.
00:51:30 Oh, and tell the devil, if I'm gonna faint,
00:51:33 it certainly ain't gonna be over
00:51:36 some kind of stupid reason like this.
00:51:39 No, absolutely not.
00:51:41 I'm too tough for that in the name of Jesus.
00:51:45 This is who we are.
00:51:46 We are the body of Christ.
00:51:48 We are tough, and this is what we do.
00:51:52 We will eat up our enemies like they are candy.
00:51:56 You hear me?
00:51:57 We will eat up our apostolic fathers
00:52:02 and mothers taught us to hold on.
00:52:07 There is a gut-wrenching experience
00:52:10 that you will never get in God
00:52:12 until you learn how to tell somebody,
00:52:17 grab hold of it, and never let go.
00:52:23 No matter what it is, no matter what you're facing,
00:52:29 if you'll praise him in it, he'll pull you out of it.
00:52:34 I said if you'll praise him in it,
00:52:37 he'll pull you out of it.
00:52:39 (congregation cheering)
00:52:43 And the good news is this,
00:52:46 this little trouble that you're facing is measured.
00:52:51 Look at somebody and tell them,
00:52:54 don't be discouraged,
00:52:56 'cause what you're facing is measured.
00:53:00 God has already measured how much you can handle,
00:53:05 and no matter how much your enemy wants you to bear,
00:53:10 there is a load limit.
00:53:13 (congregation cheering)
00:53:17 Because of the goodness of God,
00:53:21 there is a load limit.
00:53:23 God said, "Send this to Cheryl.
00:53:28 She can handle that.
00:53:30 Send this to her.
00:53:31 Send this to Job.
00:53:34 Send this to Paul.
00:53:36 Wait a minute, don't send what I said goes to Paul,
00:53:39 to Cheryl, 'cause she ain't ready for that.
00:53:42 He knows exactly how much you can take,
00:53:46 so rest assured it might feel like it's gonna break you down,
00:53:51 but that tells me that he knows my frame,
00:53:56 and he knows how much I can take,
00:53:58 and he will help me to bear what I need to bear."
00:54:03 So when people look at you and they feel sorry for you,
00:54:09 tell them, "Don't feel sorry for me.
00:54:12 I am persuaded that neither death,
00:54:16 nor life, nor angels, nor principalities,
00:54:21 nor things present, or anything coming my way."
00:54:27 (congregation cheering)
00:54:30 Has the ability to separate me
00:54:32 from the love of God in Christ.
00:54:36 I am persuaded.
00:54:37 That means I know.
00:54:41 That means I am convinced.
00:54:44 Can I tell you, God's school is not a school of feelings.
00:54:49 God's school is a school of knowledge,
00:54:56 because sometimes you gotta know even if you can't feel.
00:55:01 Look at somebody and say, "Get knowledge."
00:55:10 I know we like what we feel,
00:55:13 but we've got to get knowledge,
00:55:16 'cause you can't build your life on feelings.
00:55:19 I said you can't build your life on feelings.
00:55:22 You gotta build it on knowledge.
00:55:25 It's the things that you know about God
00:55:28 that will cause you to defeat every enemy
00:55:32 that jumps up in your, not the things you heard,
00:55:35 not the things you've seen,
00:55:38 but it is the things that I know about.
00:55:44 Look at your neighbor and say,
00:55:50 "I know some things about God.
00:55:55 "I know he's able.
00:55:57 "I know he's a wheel in the middle of a wheel.
00:56:01 "I know he's steadfast.
00:56:04 "I know he may not come when I want him,
00:56:07 "but I know he's on time."
00:56:11 Woo!
00:56:23 (congregation cheering)
00:56:25 When you know God for yourself,
00:56:30 once you know him like that,
00:56:34 you can go through anything.
00:56:37 He gives you the grace to go through
00:56:41 and still sing your song.
00:56:50 You're taking chemo, but you're singing.
00:56:53 Even when they want you to shut your mouth,
00:56:56 you can sing in your own spirit,
00:57:00 hymns, songs, making melodies.
00:57:05 Look at somebody and tell them,
00:57:08 "You can't stop my song.
00:57:09 "You can seal up my lips,
00:57:13 "but you will never stop mine."
00:57:15 (congregation cheering)
00:57:19 Why?
00:57:23 Because I'm more than a conqueror.
00:57:26 A conqueror is one who praises God
00:57:32 when all is well,
00:57:34 but a more than conqueror
00:57:38 is somebody that praises when all things feel like
00:57:42 they're going to hell in a hand basket.
00:57:46 So when the devil starts saying,
00:57:48 "Let's just call it.
00:57:52 "Let's just call it this."
00:57:58 Push your neighbor and tell him,
00:57:59 "You gotta push back.
00:58:01 "You gotta push back.
00:58:05 "You gotta tell the devil."
00:58:09 This right here?
00:58:10 Are you kidding me?
00:58:13 You think this is gonna make me curse God and die?
00:58:17 Oh, God's got this.
00:58:20 It's already been measured.
00:58:22 I said it's already been measured.
00:58:30 If you think that these light afflictions
00:58:35 are gonna shut up my praise,
00:58:38 I dare you to think again
00:58:40 because I am steadfast,
00:58:43 unmovable,
00:58:44 always
00:58:46 abounding in the work of God.
00:58:54 Why?
00:58:55 Because God is good.
00:58:56 I said God is good
00:59:01 and all the time,
00:59:04 even when life is bad,
00:59:09 God is good even when people are bad,
00:59:14 when my situation is bad,
00:59:18 when my circumstances are bad.
00:59:23 So I will bless the Lord at all
00:59:29 and His praise shall continually be.
00:59:36 (upbeat music)
00:59:39 Open your mouth and loose the praise.
00:59:45 Woo!
00:59:56 When you open your mouth,
00:59:59 you'll loose the praise
01:00:01 and God in heaven.
01:00:05 (upbeat music)
01:00:07 Tell somebody,
01:00:09 He's right here,
01:00:11 right between me and you.
01:00:14 He's here.
01:00:15 He's right here.
01:00:17 A present help in the time of...
01:00:20 My mouth, Hannah said,
01:00:27 when Hannah wanted a baby
01:00:29 and she couldn't get one,
01:00:32 she got tired of the enemy lying to her
01:00:35 and she said,
01:00:37 my mouth has been enlarged
01:00:42 against my enemy.
01:00:44 You've got to open your big old mouth
01:00:48 for a good reason.
01:00:50 Look at somebody and say,
01:00:53 neighbor,
01:00:54 I knew you had a big mouth
01:00:58 for a big reason.
01:01:02 Open your mouth.
01:01:03 (upbeat music)
01:01:07 That's corporate.
01:01:28 That's corporate worship.
01:01:30 And while we get little blessings,
01:01:33 when we individually worship,
01:01:36 when we come together
01:01:38 and corporately worship,
01:01:41 that's when things begin to grow exponentially.
01:01:46 Open your mouth one more time.
01:01:50 (upbeat music)
01:01:53 (crowd cheering)
01:01:56 I'm telling you,
01:02:11 if it ever gets in your spirit,
01:02:14 you can be by yourself
01:02:16 and still hear the corporate sound.
01:02:22 That's what me and Bishop was doing
01:02:25 in that doctor's office.
01:02:26 All we had to hold on to
01:02:30 was last Sunday,
01:02:32 he said,
01:02:33 I looked at him and I said,
01:02:38 expectation is what the prophets said to us.
01:02:43 We held on.
01:02:45 And when that good report came,
01:02:48 I told you a while ago,
01:02:49 I heard that.
01:02:51 (upbeat music)
01:02:54 Just us,
01:03:03 but a corporate sound.
01:03:06 A corporate sound
01:03:09 that said I'm going
01:03:11 into the high places
01:03:13 and I'm pulling things
01:03:15 not just for me,
01:03:19 but for everybody.
01:03:21 (upbeat music)
01:03:23 Everybody around me,
01:03:27 look at somebody and say,
01:03:30 go up
01:03:31 into the high places.
01:03:34 Go up
01:03:36 into the high places.
01:03:39 Pull down powers.
01:03:42 Pull down principalities.
01:03:45 Pull down sickness.
01:03:47 Pull down curses.
01:03:50 Pull down strongholds.
01:03:52 (upbeat music)
01:03:54 (speaking in foreign language)
01:04:16 Holy Spirit, I thank you for power.
01:04:19 I thank you for power.
01:04:21 Thank you for enlarging our vocabulary.
01:04:27 Thank you for enlarging our territory.
01:04:31 (upbeat music)
01:04:34 Tell your neighbor,
01:04:40 I'm going up
01:04:42 to the high places.
01:04:46 And if you don't see me
01:04:48 next Sunday
01:04:49 sitting in the same seat,
01:04:52 it's 'cause I went up
01:04:55 to the high places.
01:04:57 And I got to pull some things.
01:05:01 (upbeat music)
01:05:03 I may sit over here one week.
01:05:06 I may sit over there the next.
01:05:09 But if you hinder my praise,
01:05:11 I got to leave you
01:05:13 'cause I got to rise up
01:05:15 and come away.
01:05:17 (upbeat music)
01:05:21 (cheering)
01:05:50 Singing, making melody in your heart.
01:05:53 Unto.
01:05:56 (upbeat music)
01:05:59 Look at somebody and say neighbor.
01:06:20 You ain't got to beg me
01:06:22 to worship.
01:06:25 It's not reasonable service.
01:06:29 It's what I all call.
01:06:30 Hey, the devil didn't have to beg you
01:06:34 to be bad when you were in sin.
01:06:37 Why do we got to beg you to praise God
01:06:43 now that you know him as your savior?
01:06:46 (upbeat music)
01:06:50 Listen, the devil's been after somebody's worship.
01:06:53 He's been after somebody's song.
01:06:55 But I declare to you today in the name of Jesus
01:06:58 that he will not have your song.
01:07:01 He will not have your praise.
01:07:05 He will not take away your joy.
01:07:08 He will not get your worship.
01:07:10 (upbeat music)
01:07:18 (cheering)
01:07:20 Your mouth is enlarged.
01:07:22 I said your mouth is enlarged.
01:07:25 I can't show you today.
01:07:27 (upbeat music)
01:07:29 So just stay right where you are.
01:07:37 There is deliverance in your song.
01:07:46 (upbeat music)
01:07:49 - I'm so grateful for the instruments.
01:07:52 And while David taught us that they were important,
01:07:56 and the people that played them are important as well.
01:08:00 At the end of the day, I thank God for instruments.
01:08:04 But the first instrument that was ever created
01:08:10 was not a keyboard.
01:08:11 (audience shouting)
01:08:12 It was not strings.
01:08:13 It was not bass.
01:08:14 (audience shouting)
01:08:16 What was ever created was you and me.
01:08:19 So that's why we must open our mouth
01:08:23 because they can't replace our voice.
01:08:26 Here's what I want you to remember.
01:08:34 And I'm gonna stop 'cause I could go on,
01:08:35 but I'm gonna stop.
01:08:37 Always remember this.
01:08:39 A worshiper is one of the few things
01:08:43 that God ever sought after.
01:08:45 (audience shouting)
01:08:48 One of the very few things God ever sought after.
01:08:56 Look, check the book out.
01:08:57 That's why I'm holding it up.
01:09:00 Look from cover to cover.
01:09:01 You'll discover that a worshiper
01:09:03 is one of the very few things that God sought after.
01:09:08 The second thing,
01:09:09 a worshiper is one of the few things
01:09:13 that God ever sought after.
01:09:15 (audience shouting)
01:09:18 And the third thing I want you to remember
01:09:24 is that with every acceptable sacrifice,
01:09:27 they're not all acceptable.
01:09:31 I said they're not all acceptable.
01:09:33 Sacrifices went up all over the world today in churches,
01:09:36 and they were not all accepted.
01:09:38 Why?
01:09:39 Because to ascend unto the mountain of the Lord,
01:09:41 you mess up.
01:09:43 You have to pray that God will see your heart.
01:09:47 I didn't want to miss you.
01:09:50 I didn't want to mess up.
01:09:52 But please see my heart.
01:09:54 And every time you give God a sacrifice
01:09:57 that is acceptable,
01:09:58 what constitutes an acceptable sacrifice?
01:10:02 It's one that we don't have to draw out of you.
01:10:05 It's something that you freely give.
01:10:08 So if you're going, "Praise the Lord,"
01:10:11 because you're tired of hearing somebody say,
01:10:14 "You ought to worship God,"
01:10:16 you might as well kept that Savior energy,
01:10:18 'cause it wasn't acceptable anyway.
01:10:21 Why?
01:10:22 'Cause we had to pull it out of you.
01:10:23 If you got something for me, give it to me.
01:10:27 I don't want you over here telling,
01:10:29 "Give it to her.
01:10:30 "Give it to the pastor.
01:10:31 "Give it to her.
01:10:32 "You can do better than that.
01:10:34 "Give it to her."
01:10:35 No, I don't want it anymore.
01:10:38 And God don't either.
01:10:40 He wants your worship to flow from your heart.
01:10:44 Real worship is bringing your heart to Jesus.
01:10:49 Number three, and this is it.
01:10:52 Always remember,
01:10:53 there has never been a worshiper in this book
01:11:00 that God did not deliver.
01:11:07 (congregation applauding)
01:11:11 Anchor into that right there,
01:11:16 and tell the devil, "If for no other reason,
01:11:19 "I'll stand right here and bless his name.
01:11:24 "I will, I will."
01:11:28 Sing your song,
01:11:35 'cause there's deliverance in your song.
01:11:38 (upbeat music)
01:11:40 (upbeat music)
01:11:43 (upbeat music)
01:11:45 (upbeat music)
