Long Promised Road (Beach Boys Acapella Snippet Cover)

"Flows to the source, gentle force, never ending...never ending..."
Man, the lyrics are incredible. I was listening to this at 2am Monday after (last week) getting myself hooked on this song after watching a Carl interview and man, it just knocks me out. Carl as a songwriter was such a force, and he just KILLS the lead vocal! Carl just has such a great powerfully sweet voice, and this song is SO good. The middle section right after 1:21 (this part), is just gorgeous. The harmonies that come in right here are ethereal, there's no other way I can describe it. It's breathtakingly beautiful. This song gives such an intimate view into Carl's soul and who he was as a person in my opinion, and lyrically? Amazing. It's an incredible first or so venture for Carl as a songwriter at this point (in 1971), with this song and Feel Flows being the first songs he wrote for The Beach Boys. This song resonates with me because of it's beauty, stunning lyrics, amazing harmonies, and being pleasing to my ears (especially this part). If you haven't heard The Beach Boys version, check it out! I swear you won't be disappointed.
Even though it's a four part harmony, I loved the bass in the song so I treated it as if it was like Mike's part and added it in. Originally it was a tad bit lower than I can go, so I adjusted it so I could still sing it. It wasn't till the next day I realized after listening to it again all day that Carl was in the mix of backing vocals, so I excitedly rushed home to figure out what part so I could add it in, bringing this to six parts (if you want to count the lead vocal, if not then 5).
Ever since doing Surf's Up, I made it easier for my ears to pick parts out and listen to them, so it only took having it on repeat for three days to know who sang what and how.
