00:00 It's my surreal take on my favorite cereals from my childhood
00:05 and mixed with a little adult awareness about what's really going on
00:10 behind these sugary snacks, if you will.
00:15 Hey, what's up? I'm Rockaruby's content creator/video artist/host sometimes,
00:25 and this is my solo exhibit, second solo exhibit, Surrealicious.
00:29 Running from August 6 to 18 at Secret Fresh in San Juan,
00:33 this exhibit combines surrealism, graffiti, pop art, and cartoon art
00:37 as Ruiz reimagines childhood memories and breakfast cereal mascots.
00:41 Through vibrant colors and surreal elements,
00:44 he captures the euphoria of a sugar rush from our favorite morning rituals.
00:47 What I love about art is people can take away their own meaning from it.
00:54 Now, even if I was motivated by social awareness when it comes to
01:00 the reality behind breakfast cereals, it also brings back nostalgia.
01:04 That's what I learned from a lot of people that came to my show.
01:07 You want to feel nostalgia, come here, appreciate the art.
01:11 There's other paintings here as well that you can appreciate.
01:14 So come drop by Secret Fresh. My works will be up till the 18th.
01:19 Surrealicious is not just art.
01:20 It's a journey into the unknown corners of nostalgia.
01:23 Join Raka Ruiz as he unravels the layers of childhood and art,
01:26 inviting us to see beyond the surface.
