00:03 Hi, I'm Christopher Palaha, and Hallmark and I
00:06 would like to take you on an exclusive tour of Biltmore
00:09 House, America's largest private home.
00:12 Come on.
00:13 Now, the first stop on our tour is the tapestry gallery.
00:16 And I'm talking in hushed tones, because if you look all the way
00:18 to the back of the room, we're actually filming a scene
00:20 right now for Biltmore Christmas.
00:22 But I want to show you this room first.
00:23 Come here.
00:24 The first thing you're going to notice
00:26 is a beautiful baby grand piano and then these three
00:27 massive 1,500 Flemish tapestries.
00:31 And this room boasts not one, but two fireplaces.
00:34 And if you look all the way to the back,
00:36 you'll see George Vanderbilt and his wife Cornelia.
00:38 George is the man who built this palace.
00:40 Now, in a Biltmore Christmas, the Hallmark movie,
00:43 the cute meet between my character and Lucy
00:46 happens in this room.
00:47 It's called the Winter Garden.
00:49 The Winter Garden was George Vanderbilt's
00:51 sort of inside greenhouse.
00:54 And if you look up, you'll see the glass ceilings.
00:56 And his daughter had her wedding breakfast right here.
00:59 Welcome to the Billiard Room.
01:00 In a Biltmore Christmas, Lucy and Winson
01:03 come through this room on the tour of the house.
01:06 And this is sort of where the men mostly, but the women too,
01:09 would come in for a little after dinner drink, a little cigar,
01:13 a little light conversation.
01:15 It's just a beautiful room.
01:16 And the next stop on the tour is the banquet hall.
01:19 A lot of scenes that were shot here,
01:20 particularly one between my character Jack and Lucy,
01:23 some snappy little 1940s style banter.
01:26 Excuse me.
01:28 Now, here at the Biltmore house, they
01:29 have a 35-foot tall Fraser fir that's grown specifically
01:33 for Biltmore House.
01:34 And every year, they chop this beauty down,
01:38 and they bring in a fresh, brand new live tree.
01:41 And let's see if we can find the pickle, shall we?
01:45 Now, that means good luck for you and me.
01:49 We found the pickle.
01:50 Let's go see another room.
01:51 We are in the library.
01:53 This room, if you were here, would blow your mind.
01:56 It's a two-story library.
01:58 George Vanderbilt built it to house all of his books.
02:00 He's got first editions totaling in the thousands.
02:03 There's a globe that's as big as my car in the corner.
02:07 This fireplace happens to be the biggest single fireplace
02:11 in the house, which kind of, I think,
02:12 makes it the single biggest fireplace in the country.
02:15 Look up, and you'll see an entire 13-panel ceiling
02:19 painting painted in the early 1700s by Pellegrini.
02:23 And they literally built the library to accommodate
02:26 the ceiling painting.
02:27 This is such an important room in the story
02:29 of Biltmore Christmas.
02:31 And in it, there's this beautiful Christmas tree
02:33 that is decked up as if it were from 1947.
02:36 It's kind of amazing.
02:38 Oh, no.
02:39 Look at this.
02:39 We're just about out of time.
02:41 I got more rooms to show you.
02:42 Come on.
02:43 Let's go.
02:44 And we are in the final room of the house, which is actually
02:47 the first room that you would meet as a guest.
02:49 Back in the day, this is the grand entry hall.
02:52 This is where the Cinderella moment in the movie happens.
02:55 You look beautiful.
02:57 Thank you.
02:58 Speaking of Cinderella, it's my leading lady,
03:00 Bethany Joy Lenz.
03:02 Hi, everybody.
03:03 So this is the grand entry that Vanderbilts would greet
03:05 their guests, but we're doing our Christmas party scene here.
03:07 May I cut in?
03:08 Yes.
03:09 No.
03:10 Hi.
03:11 It's all very romantic.
03:13 They're calling for me.
03:14 Sorry.
03:15 Ta-ta.
03:17 Now, you be sure to watch "A Biltmore Christmas,"
03:19 and thank you so much for coming on this tour with us
03:21 at Biltmore House.
03:23 I'll see you in the pictures, kid.
03:27 Merry Christmas.
