00:13 Clarita has been working as a housewife for 67 years.

00:22 She needs Php 6,000 every month, which is still not enough, especially since she is not the only one living.

00:29 I am still not enough, because I have three grandchildren.

00:34 I have to take care of them.

00:36 It's hard, because you have to wake up early, cook, clean, and take care of your husband's needs.

00:45 But some people are still living.

00:47 It seems that their wages are also being reduced,

00:51 especially since the last increase in the minimum wage of households.

00:55 That's why she is now a sideline housewife.

00:58 There are people who want me to wash the dishes, but I can't do it.

01:03 Last June, the NCR Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board approved the addition of Php 1,000 to the salary of households.

01:11 That's why the minimum wage of households in Metro Manila is now Php 6,000.

01:18 Since the Labor Department understands the effect of the high price,

01:22 they are the ones who initiated a public hearing to discuss how much should be added to the salary of households in Metro Manila.

01:30 That will be decided next week.

01:33 We will consider the socio-economic conditions in NCR to come up with, if possible, to increase the minimum wage of households.

01:44 We hope that they will give us an increase in our salary so that it will be enough for our family and for our daily needs.

01:57 The housewives have a separate problem, that they are still paying lower than the minimum wage that should be paid now.

02:03 There are still people below minimum wage.

02:06 But of course, in Dole, we are open and if there are complaints, we conduct them.
