00:12 My name's Sheila Gore and I'm the Mayor of Froom this year.
00:17 And this is one of the best bits that I have to do, one of the great events, really exciting.
00:23 So it's a great Christmas-like switch on of the lights.
00:27 And I'll be doing that with Ted Lewis-Clark, who is the pupil from Oakfield who won a prize designing the first car stamp this year.
00:38 And there'll be also, we've had a great project running that was funded, it was chosen by everybody in town.
00:46 It was part of the funding that Froom Town Council did.
00:49 But it was chosen by the people of Froom, the lantern parade, and there are about, I think, 500 or more lanterns that will be coming into the centre of town from all directions.
01:00 It's going to be fantastic.
01:02 It's for Christmas lights turn on, so I thought I'd show some festivities.

01:10 To have the lights come on in Froom and to have the Froom community choir singing on an event like this to kick it off, I think is great.
01:18 It's a good thing for Froom.
01:20 [Singing]
01:37 It's lovely, absolutely lovely. And it's wheelchair-friendly, and there's loads of other stuff, so it's great.
01:43 I'm giving out the song sheets for the people who are slightly older, so they can read them.

02:00 So we're collecting for Fair Froom, which is for the food bank, and also for the big Christmas lunch.
02:06 Yes, we're there.

02:29 Hello, my name is Clementine. I work at Froom Town Council.
02:33 We've organised this event with the help of Fae Penfold.
02:36 We have 900 lanterns for the procession tonight.
02:42 Half of us are here, half of us are at the other end of town, and we're all going to be meeting in the middle for the carol singing and some food and mulled wine.
02:50 [Indistinct chatter]
03:15 I've got Ruby here, and she made this beautiful lantern.
03:18 So three long pieces, and three short pieces.
03:22 And then you had to use duct tape to stick all of these together.
03:26 [Coughing]
03:28 That's cool.
03:30 [Indistinct chatter]
03:32 It's quite chaotic down at the bottom as well, but there's a very good band down there, and the food smells fantastic.
03:37 [Indistinct chatter]
03:42 I am the lead dancer of Swanson's Signets, a group of Samba dancers, and I am dancing for Froom Jammer.

05:37 Hi, I'm Alice, I'm Mel, and we are Light the Night.
05:42 We got budgeting from the town council to put on a lantern parade, and this is the result of it.
05:48 We've had over 900 participants in workshops across schools and in community centres, and we're very happy!
