00:00 It certainly is busy here at the gas station on I-65 in Evergreen, Alabama, as one of the
00:05 busier travel days of the year.
00:07 And there's a severe weather threat here with a slight risk for severe weather by the Storm
00:10 Prediction Center.
00:12 And you can see stormy skies and rapid southerly motion too in the clouds.
00:16 That's the low-level jet that's going to bring a tornado threat with this convective line
00:20 that's forming right now along I-65 from the Mobile area a little to the east and up toward
00:26 Montgomery and then through the Atlanta, Georgia area.
00:29 Some of the storms near Atlanta that are going to move along the I-85 corridor toward upstate
00:33 South Carolina later on this afternoon and evening could pose a tornado threat.
00:37 There's very strong wind shear up there and there's also a tornado threat a little bit
00:41 further south in southern Alabama where there's some greater instability.
00:45 That's where I'm located and I'm targeting this convective line that is developing off
00:49 to my east.
00:50 It's gradually starting to mature.
00:52 The individual storms will develop into supercells and those will move off to the east-northeast
00:56 and move into that low-level jet and develop tornado potential.
01:00 So all these travelers that are traveling for the holidays certainly need to stay tuned
01:04 to those severe weather watches and warnings because there is some potentially dangerous
01:09 weather just off to the east and that includes some of these main thoroughfares like I-65
01:14 and I-20 from Atlanta up through the Greenville-Spartanburg area could see some severe weather this late
01:20 afternoon and through the evening.
01:21 So certainly do stay tuned to those severe weather watches and warnings when you do
01:25 hit the road.
01:26 There could be some isolated dangerous travel especially along this cold front that's moving
01:30 west to east through the mid-south.
