00:00 Welcome to the WrestleTalk News, I'm Pete Quinnell.
00:08 It was Full Gear this past weekend, and it's Survivor Series this weekend.
00:12 Wrestling never stops, does it?
00:14 The main event of Full Gear in particular had a lot of eyes on it, with it splitting
00:18 opinion on whether it was good or bad, overbooked or not, successful or a waste of time.
00:24 MJF's injury angle of being taken out until the main event raised eyebrows with some sections
00:28 of AEW fan, but as it turns out, there was a shoot injury in amongst all of the work
00:33 injury angle stuff too.
00:34 According to WrestlePurist, MJF actually dislocated his hip during the match with Jey White, with
00:39 the elbow drop to the floor being pointed to the incident responsible.
00:42 Sean Ross Sapp also corroborated that he'd heard that MJF's hip had been hurt in the
00:46 match.
00:47 The commentary table collapsed as White was laid upon it, but MJF did the elbow drop anyway
00:51 straight down to the floor.
00:53 MJF's hip reportedly had to be popped back in following the match, but that's not all,
00:58 as MJF also reportedly banged up his shoulder in the match too, with the top rope urinage
01:03 being the move that reportedly caused it.
01:05 But good news for MJF fans as he's reportedly not set to miss any TV time, but is expected
01:10 to be in a non-wrestling role while he heals up in the lead to World's End in Long Island
01:14 at the end of December.
01:15 That's not the only injury in AEW right now though, as it's also being reported
01:19 via Fightful Select that Juice Robinson is out of action right now with a back injury
01:24 that will require surgery.
01:25 While he's reportedly not expected to miss a ton of time away, he won't be wrestling
01:30 for the rest of 2023 at the least.
01:32 We'd like to wish both MJF and Juice the speediest of recoveries.
01:36 Moving back to MJF now, we are rapidly approaching the end of 2023, which means it's almost
01:41 time for that whole bidding war of 2024 storyline that MJF has been playing up for years now.
01:47 Which hasn't really been spoken about on AEW TV and more just in press conferences
01:51 and on MJF social media.
01:52 It's still good though right?
01:54 It's still good.
01:55 Well, for anybody hoping for a dash of MJF realism in their storyline, that dash may
01:59 have been dashed, as House of Wrestling is reporting that WWE sources believe that MJF
02:04 has quietly re-signed with AEW until 2027, and as such there have been zero talks between
02:10 the two sides.
02:11 One WWE source even reportedly mentioned that the storyline of him entering free agency
02:15 soon and playing up the bidding war was entirely in his head, with another saying that they
02:19 were told that he was under a long-term deal, which is why AEW stopped pushing the story
02:24 themselves.
02:25 Which makes sense considering MJF has been the focal point of literally all of AEW's
02:29 top stories this year, which would be an insane choice if he were actually about to jump ship.
02:33 And speaking of jumping ship, one WWE name that had long been rumoured to be on the outs
02:37 with WWE is Drew McIntyre, who turned heel on last week's war and aligned himself with
02:42 the Judgment Day.
02:43 While McIntyre's contract is reportedly due to expire in 2024 as well, there's now
02:47 a potential clue he may be sticking around.
02:49 WWE released their first Bash In Berlin poster, and alongside Cody Rhodes, Bianca Belair,
02:54 Gunther, Seth Rollins and Rhea Ripley is one true McIntyre.
02:58 Bash In Berlin is set for the end of August in 2024, well after McIntyre's contract
03:02 is reportedly due to expire.
03:04 While this may seem like confirmation of the Scots presence on the show, there's every
03:08 chance that they could card subject to change the show, and Drew could be removed if he
03:12 weren't actually competing.
03:14 But still, it's a clue.
03:16 Now over to Luke.
03:18 Thank you very much people, now it's time for my review of Monday Night Raw, aka the
03:21 Randy Orton Returns Show, but not quite the Randy Orton Returns Show edition of Monday
03:26 Night Raw, in about 5 minutes.
03:28 The show opened with our newly fully heel Drew McIntyre cutting a promo on Jey Uso,
03:33 covering a lot of the ground we've covered before, but with his justification as to why
03:39 he's part of War Games.
03:40 See Drew has not joined Judgement Day, and he's not doing it to get back at Seth Rollins
03:46 for Crown Jewel.
03:47 He's doing this because Rhea Ripley gave him what he wanted - Jey Uso in a cage.
03:53 This brought out Jey Uso to say yeet a lot, I fear that's going to get real old real
03:57 quick - and then everyone came down to start a big Survivor Series gang wars brawl.
04:02 But Adam Pearce stopped them and said they all need to pick their representatives for
04:06 tonight's main event, where the winner will get their team the advantage in War Games.
04:11 I can't wait for the same stip for the women's match.
04:15 What's that?
04:16 Sorry, what?
04:17 They're not getting that stip.
04:20 Their advantage is being decided in a fan vote as part of a Krispz sponsorship.
04:26 Are you sure?
04:31 I'll check Twitter.
04:34 Oh my god you're right.
04:39 A fan vote for Krispz sponsorship.
04:42 Well that's f***ing rubbish.
04:45 The Judgement Day hung out in their Judgement Den and eventually picked Drew McIntyre for
04:48 the match while Team Cody picked Jey.
04:50 Despite telling us that she's got a very massive and impressive back every time she
04:54 makes an entrance, Raquel Rodriguez's back gave out a lot during her match with Nia Jax.
04:58 She couldn't lift her for a powerbomb, and Jax hit the Banzai Drop for the win.
05:02 This match was way better than a lot of people thought it was going to be.
05:06 Speaking of being way better than you'd think, Xia Li had an absolutely banging match
05:11 with Becky Lynch.
05:12 I mean, it'd be pretty hard to have a bad match with Becky Lynch.
05:16 It'd be like having a bad match with Gunther.
05:19 Pressure's on, Miz.
05:20 But Li looked amazing here.
05:22 I've been down on Xia Li's character as the dumbest wrestler in wrestling, and her
05:26 in-ring work has a real feel of not quite main roster ready, but she dulled it up here
05:31 whole.
05:32 The two went back and forth, Li escaped the Disarm Her, they both beat the 10 count, Lynch
05:37 ducked the concussion kick and hit a manhandle slam for the win.
05:41 Lynch gave Li everything here, and it worked.
05:45 The crowd were super, super into this.
05:48 But if I may just pop on my cynical hat for a moment, why not do this match next week?
05:55 Why beat Xia Li 24 hours before she's facing Laya Valkyria for the NXT Women's Championship?
06:02 I mean, you don't want to beat Becky Lynch because she's on the pay-per-view this weekend,
06:06 so just move the match to next week when neither of those things would be an issue.
06:12 Take that hat off there.
06:13 Pop it over, I don't think I'll need that for the rest of the review.
06:16 The gang wars continued as Damage Control hit the ring to attack Becky and Team Flair
06:20 joined the fray.
06:21 I'm way more stoked for that match than I am the men's one.
06:24 And you can see me be excited for this match live and in person this Saturday at the Long
06:30 Arm Pub and Brewery in Shoreditch in London.
06:33 But don't just take it from me, take it from me.
06:36 Do you have plans to watch Survivor Series?
06:39 Well why not come and watch WWE Survivor Series live and in person with the WrestleTalk team
06:45 with over 100 other wrestling fans along with a live version of our parts-funded board game
06:51 series No Holds Bored at the Long Arm Pub and Brewery in London.
06:56 Not only will we be watching Survivor Series together, but we'll be doing our live reactions
07:00 to the show from the pub, which means you will have the chance to be on camera and part
07:05 of the WrestleTalk Live experience.
07:07 This is the best way to watch wrestling, pay-per-views and tickets are available right now.
07:12 Get your tickets today and we'll see you there to be part of moments like this.
07:28 Tickets are available in the link in the video description down below so get yours today
07:32 and we'll see you this Saturday/Sunday.
07:36 We're doing a lock-in at a pub and we'll also be doing our live reactions to the show live
07:40 from the building here on the WrestleTalk News Channel.
07:44 We got a video promo for Zoey Stark, who also cut a promo on Rhea in the Judgment Den, and
07:49 then Johnny Gargano beat Ludwig Kaiser when Giovanni Vinci - who'd been told backstage
07:53 by Kaiser to not come out - caused a distraction.
07:56 I'm glad that Gargano Gargan got a win and to hear the crowd may actually be behind him
08:01 for a change, but I'm running tired of this distraction/interference formula in this DIY/Imperium
08:08 feud.
08:09 Gunther shouted at Kaiser backstage and put Vinci in charge and stop trying to break this
08:13 team up.
08:14 There was a chart posted by Brandon Thurston on Twitter a few weeks ago that highlighted
08:18 how Raw and Smackdown actually have the same amount of women's matches on their shows
08:23 as AEW's Collision and Dynamite - which is hugely surprising as the AEW women's division
08:29 is quite the afterthought on Dynamite and Collision.
08:33 But it's almost as if Triple H saw that chart - and unlike Tony Khan - realised that
08:38 it sucks and wanted to make a change for the better.
08:41 Of the first four matches on this show, three of them were based around the women's division
08:48 - the third of those three matches being a fatal four-way between the Party Girls, Maxine
08:53 and Ivy Niles, Higa, Nox and Natalya, and the way for the number one contendership to
08:58 the women's tag titles.
09:00 The match was a bit sloppy in places, but overall good fun - with Maxine and Nile being
09:05 the true standouts.
09:06 Tegan rolled up Maxine to get the win, she and Natalya have negative chemistry.
09:11 Chelsea Green and Piper Niven were also very entertaining on commentary, with Green pulling
09:14 out the old Chris Jericho gag of calling the lead announcer by the wrong name.
09:19 Canadians stick together.
09:20 Adam Pearce announced the same match but for the lads as all the tag divisions stood in
09:25 a row.
09:26 And then we got The Miz's face-to-face with Gunther.
09:30 Gunther's initial deal with The Miz was that he's not a serious wrestler - which
09:34 in fairness he isn't - but Miz has now turned that into a positive.
09:39 Yeah, he's a character, but so is Macho Man, so is Mr. Perfect, so is Shawn Michaels
09:45 - and he idolised them.
09:47 And they were all IC champs, which is why he respects that title.
09:51 Like The Constructicons once told Soundwave, Miz thinks Gunther is an uncharismatic bore.
09:58 Gunther shut Miz down by telling him he's nothing but a weirdo fan who thinks he can
10:04 be a wrestler when he isn't.
10:07 He does not belong in this ring, he belongs behind the guardrail with the other weirdo
10:13 fans.
10:14 That right there is my champion.
10:17 They kept talking about how The Miz, who he kept calling Mike in a brilliant little detail,
10:22 was bullied as a child for idolising those wrestlers, and then was bullied by those legends
10:28 that he idolised.
10:29 So maybe he just needs to be bullied more.
10:32 He pie-faced Miz and he booted him down, but Mike kicked him low and hit the skull-crushing
10:38 finale to stand tall.
10:40 This was a fantastic segment.
10:43 Shinsuke Nakamura beat Chad Gable in the I'm Not Facing CM Punk and Survivor Series match,
10:48 and Ivar and Bronson Reed set up a match for next week.
10:50 And the main event saw Drew McIntyre beat Jey Uso with relative ease to get the baddies
10:55 the advantage in War Games.
10:56 The usual brawl followed, and Cody announced that their fifth member is someone he has
11:00 a legacy with.
11:01 He's an Apex Predator, he has voices in his head, and he's not here tonight.
11:07 Yeah, this was a bit of a letdown, but you can see why WWE did it.
11:12 Twitter has itself in a frenzy that CM Punk is at Survivor Series, so WWE had to announce
11:19 that Randy Orton was at Survivor Series, but Randy Orton wasn't there.
11:25 They didn't even say his name, just letting the crowd to chant for him and Cody being
11:28 like, yep that's the guy.
11:30 This had a real Kota Ibushi and Blood and Guts reveal vibe, but it wasn't enough to
11:35 sour the episode which was a great addition of Raw, and a go-home show that actually,
11:40 for a change, felt like a go-home show.
11:43 It is 4 out of 5.
11:45 And the second semifinal for Fantasy Booking Warfare saw Tempest and Laurie book the end
11:50 of Asuka's streak.
11:51 So find out who will join Oliver Davis in the finals of Fantasy Booking Warfare this
11:56 weekend.
