00:00 I think every Conservative would like to see taxes come down.
00:03 We've gone through an incredibly difficult situation with Covid,
00:07 where we had to spend millions of pounds on supporting people's income through furlough.
00:10 And then last year, where we supported half of people's energy bills.
00:14 That was really, really vital.
00:16 But we have taken some difficult decisions in the last year,
00:19 which will mean that actually we're getting the amount we're spending down,
00:23 and that means that we can look a lot more at cutting taxes.
00:26 I think there's a fundamental principle here that if you can work,
00:29 you should work.
00:30 And that is what the government will be pursuing.
00:33 There was a consultation that was out earlier this year on these proposals.
00:37 We'll come back with that shortly.
00:39 But there was also an announcement that the Chancellor made last week,
00:42 alongside the Work and Pensions Secretary,
00:45 to talk about making sure there's a support in place for people,
00:47 because that is absolutely vital to get back into work.
00:50 But if they don't engage in that support, then they will be sanctioned.
00:54 The Prime Minister has said very clearly that he will do whatever it takes to stop the boats.
00:59 We have been preparing for this outcome from the Supreme Court case.
01:04 The legislation will be introduced very soon.
01:06 I can't say exactly when, but we are wasting no time in getting on with this.
