Ahead of India's ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final against Australia, Rohit Sharma predicted "a good contest" between the two former champions. India, two-time champions, qualified for the final with a perfect 10 -- winning all 10 league matches, while the Aussies, five-time winners, recovered well to win eight successive matches after defeats against the hosts and South Africa -- a team they eventually defeated to make the title round. "Both teams deserve to be at this stage playing the finals and we do understand the importance of what Australia can do. They are a very complete side and for us again what is important is to focus on what we want to do as a team," Rohit told media on the eve of Sunday's final at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. 00:03 No, I mean, I don't agree with not being dominant.
00:08 They've won eight out of eight, the last eight games
00:11 that they've played.
00:13 And they played it really well.
00:14 So it's going to be a good contest.
00:16 Both teams, obviously, both teams
00:20 deserve to be at this stage playing the finals.
00:24 And we do understand the importance
00:26 of what Australia can do.
00:32 They are a very complete side.
00:35 And for us, again, what is important
00:38 is to focus on what we want to do as a team.
00:41 And I have said it many a times in the past in this tournament.
00:47 And even now, I will say the same thing,
00:49 that we don't want to worry about what the opposition is
00:54 and what kind of form they are in and all of that.
00:58 We need to focus on what is important for us,
01:03 what we need to do as a team and as players as well.
01:07 So a lot of focus and a lot of time is given to that thought.
01:10 And we will stick to it.
