00:00 I got another little thing to give you today and that's that defense of what to know what to expect if you will for this
00:05 Tennessee defense they are revamped if you will. Okay, if you listen to anybody talking about Tennessee football this year
00:11 What will they tell you?
00:12 They will tell you that they are running the football really really well
00:15 And they will tell you that this is a defense that is getting after the quarterback and creating havoc
00:20 All right, but let's talk about who they are what their structure is what they are right there at four to five defense
00:26 I watched two football games. I watched them against Alabama and I watched them against, Missouri
00:30 They are a cover three base football team that will throw a little bit of change up with man-to-man coverage
00:36 But most importantly they are extremely old we talked about this every single week
00:41 Shouts out to the NCAA and the super seniors in the kovat seniors
00:44 All right
00:45 the incident boy allowing all these additional years of eligibility has just created a backlog to where you have
00:51 SEC defenses that look like this and that look like Missouri ten seniors on this roster
00:56 They are on this starting unit rather and a bunch more in the two deep the only real two underclassmen
01:02 Or three I should say Anthony Joseph's Elijah Herring and James Pierce those three sophomores. They get some reps
01:09 They get some burn outside of that. You're looking at fourth and fifth year guys
01:13 Okay, so these are guys not only that have played a lot of football
01:16 But these are a lot of football players that have played a lot of football against the University of Georgia
01:20 They will have a safety in the box
01:22 Alright, whether they're a man football team on Saturday or whether they're a cover three football team the additional safety most likely number two
01:29 Will be hanging out and hovering around the box as well as number five. Okay, so they like to stack it up
01:35 And crowd that box very rarely is the middle of the field open. Okay post snap
01:41 It might look like that pre snap it might look like they have two safeties back there
01:45 but as soon as the post snap happens soon as the ball is snap a
01:48 Safety is rolling into the box and one safety is rolling into the middle of the field. So be weary of that on Saturday
01:54 But here's the deal with a really really old football team
01:57 Okay
01:58 And a really really experienced defensive football team you have to be able to expect a football team that's gonna do a bunch of things
02:04 Or be able to disguise
02:06 Really really well, I talked about it
02:08 They're a cover three team that can play some man last year
02:10 They were a man blitz football team kind of lived and died by it
02:13 It's why they were almost dead last and explosives on the defensive side of the football while also being one of the best
02:19 Teams in the nation on the offensive side of the football in the very same category
02:23 They're trying to balance it a little bit this year with being aggressive getting after you while also
02:28 Playing some zone coverage in and behind that and trying to keep everything up underneath them
02:32 So when these change-ups happen when they show man and they play zone or they show zone and they play man post snap
02:39 Understand that their their veteran presence their age is going to allow them to disguise things
02:44 So much better than a young defensive core might be able to so you got to be ready for the change-up that they're gonna throw
02:51 At you defensively. I will tell you this though as
02:54 Much as they're trying to be a veteran defense as much as they're trying to throw change-ups and hey
02:59 We're playing zone for a couple snaps. Boom man coverage playing man comes that boom zone coverage as good as they are at disguising it
03:06 Sometimes they will bust okay. Sometimes they think they're in man when they're actually in zone
03:11 Sometimes they're in zone when they're actually in man those types of things can lead to explosives down the field now
03:17 Some of them they've been protected against because they've been able to get pressure on the quarterback
03:21 We'll talk about that in here in a little bit
03:23 But what I'm trying to explain to you is you're gonna have one look pre snap and definitely another look post snap
03:28 Against this football team. I will also tell you the most of the man pressures this year when they play
03:35 When they play man coverage you guys know I can see y'all right? It's hella distracting me all over the gig
03:39 What's going on? Nothing chat chat chat. Yeah, that's not here. Why let's shout out to the chat
03:43 But anyways, wait when they are a mixed coverage football team
03:48 I can promise you right now when you're in plus territory
03:50 Their tendency on third medium third and long is to play man cover one across the board and bring five maybe six
03:56 They're going to man pressure you on third and long from what I've seen off of tape
04:01 So just be under or be ready to do that or be ready to handle that. I'll be honest talking a little bit about player evaluations
04:07 Elijah a herring the the sophomore linebacker that's playing for them number 44
04:12 I think he's gonna be a really good football player, but I think his top-end speeds like very questionable
04:17 All right, Missouri put him in some bad spots. He took some bad angles
04:21 I think the top-end speed on this entire football team's a little bit questionable to be honest with you as
04:26 Old as they are as big as they are. I mean corners six one six two. The team speeds not elite
04:32 All right, it's not on the top end of what we would consider fast SEC football teams
04:36 And you could tell off that Missouri tape they were taking a lot of bad angles in that football game
04:42 Because of this lack of team speed in my opinion you would think hey, we're not so fast
04:46 We take better angles sometimes when teams are that much faster than you they outrun your angles. Anyways
04:53 This is a football team. Ladies and gentlemen, very akin to Ohio State in their heyday with their defensive line
04:58 They're gonna let guys get up field. All right, they're gonna let guys get off the football and play with no
05:03 Weary or no worry or no nothing. All right. This is a havoc based defense. This is not a gap control based defense
05:10 All right. What is the difference Georgia plays gap control based defense?
05:14 What you will not see is Nazir Stackhouse three yards deep into the backfield running for like a banshee bat out of hell
05:20 In fact, what you will see is Nazir Stackhouse holding two offensive linemen at the line of scrimmage
05:25 Okay
05:25 And letting linebackers run and close all of the gaps that seemingly aren't necessarily there all the time because defense alignment are holding bodies
05:32 All right, Tennessee on the other hand. We're trying to do this
05:35 We're trying to dart slash cut into your backfield and hope we can create some type of havoc play
05:41 I personally thinks it makes them rather susceptible to what we call the counter play
05:46 We talked about it last night on the channel, Georgia hasn't been necessarily a counter football team this year
05:51 Haven't been running at a time. It's been in the playbook. Don't get me wrong, but it's not their staple last year
05:56 It was well last year you had Warren McClendon and you had Roger Jones to extremely athletic tackles
06:02 I'm not saying that's not what a Marius Mims Xavier Trestle Ernest green are but hey
06:06 You guys are just as smart as I am you can see the difference between those body types, right?
06:10 It hasn't been something that you guys have run a ton this year
06:12 But if they're gonna get up field and and violently up field then it might be something that you go to at some point in
06:19 This football game back to the players discussion
06:22 James Pierce number 27. He is an elite pass rusher. Do not get me wrong
06:26 I think he can be pushed around in the run game. I would hunt this guy in the run game
06:31 I would say a Marius Mims is gonna block that guy nine yards off the point and we're gonna run right at that
06:37 That's probably what I would start with when James Pierce is on the field, but he doesn't necessarily
06:42 He's a kind of a spot player from what I've seen on tape. He's not technically there one and that's on to the another discussion
06:48 They're extremely deep in their front forward. They're gonna play three deep
06:51 All right, they're gonna play three units of defensive linemen and they're gonna try to stay relatively fresh talking about more players in general
06:59 I like number six Aaron Beasley the linebacker. He's been playing really really good football for a long time in this conference number ten
07:06 I don't know his name gentlemen, but he is a fire hydrant
07:09 He is six foot two listed at 340 pounds
07:13 I'm personally eyeball scouting him on tape gonna say he's a flat 6-1 and he's a rotund
07:20 360 I mean he is the definition of a squat plug in that or a spark plug in the middle of that defense
07:27 He is very very thick and hard to move my notes right here say he's a flat load
07:31 I like number 55 as well as a transfer. I believe from Arizona State
07:36 Barton Scott something like that. He's athletic as hell at six foot three 300 pounds outside of that
07:43 They got some guys that can get after the quarterback, but I don't know if it's necessarily like an elite
07:48 You know front I shouldn't say that they got a couple of NFL football players
07:53 They're playing really really well, and they're playing aggressively right now and you should expect to see that Saturday afternoon inside of Neyland Stadium
