00:00 Edit.
00:01 Hello, we are...
00:04 ENHYPEN!
00:05 And this is Billboard News. Let's go.
00:07 Hey, it's Tetris with Billboard News and for the first time in our studio, I got my friends in HYPEN. What's up, guys?
00:24 It's the mic, it's the mic, it's the mic.
00:26 Viva, viva, viva, viva.
00:30 I am so happy to have you guys here finally. And I mean, I was at the show the other night. I had the time of my life.
00:41 So tell me about like your first time playing a stadium in the States. Like, how'd you feel?
00:46 Yeah, first of all, I just want to say the energy was so amazing.
00:51 You talked about their energy. Your energy was crazy. There was so much dancing. I think, Jungwon, one time you were like on the ground doing choreo and you looked at the camera and I was like, how do you guys even do all of this?
01:03 So how is it to concentrate on like the dancing, the singing, the fans? Like, how do you balance all of that?
01:09 We can perform because of ENGENE's cheers. ENGENE's energy.
01:16 I think I get used to it. And when I hear the cheers, I don't get tired because of the adrenaline.
01:24 Bite Me, towards the end of the show, I love seeing you guys perform that. So let's talk about that single and how has it been to perform that for the ENGENEs?
01:36 The singing was amazing.
01:38 Oh my, oh my god.
01:40 They were singing so loudly.
01:42 Tell me how he somehow was to direct the song in studio.
01:45 We got no idea how to record this song and more swagger.
01:50 Like more rhythm.
01:52 More rhythm and groove and I had to make it more…
01:57 The first time we recorded it, he wasn't really happy about the rhythm and the feeling that the members were getting. So he said to make it more…
02:10 So…
02:12 Trendy? I don't know how to put it.
02:14 Put more swag on it.
02:15 We said all of you can put more swag on it.
02:17 We have to, we have to.
02:19 And NI-KI, you worked on some of the choreography for the music video as well. So how was it to create choreography for Bite Me?
02:31 I was on tour at that time and I was sharing a room with JAKE. We were making the choreography in the hotel room and JAKE was filming it in the practice room as soon as we got back to Korea.
02:42 It was a great memory to be able to work on choreography in such a busy schedule during the tour.
02:52 I was sharing the room with him and he was using the bathroom mirror to make the choreography.
02:57 We went back to Korea and we went to our dance studio and we filmed it and they sent it out.
03:03 That's awesome. You guys are creating your own greatness. I love that.
03:07 So let's talk about this new album, Orange Blood. What's the inspiration behind it, guys?
03:13 We thought about Orange Blood before Dark Blood came out and we released it.
03:20 Last time, we released songs with dark moods to fit the title of the album, Dark Blood.
03:31 But this time, we wanted to go closer to ENGENE and be more familiar with them.
03:43 Sanwoo, tell me about your favorite part about Orange Blood.
03:48 I love all the scenes we filmed in this album. I think ENGENE will like it.
03:56 The point of this album is the song. I think the music video will be great.
04:13 You wrote on Sweet Venom. Talk about that process.
04:18 I'm so glad to be a part of our album. It's so awesome.
04:26 I thought about our old songs and how the lyrics were. Boom, it just happened.
04:38 It's interesting you say that because this is your first all-English single.
04:42 You guys have been putting out music for a while. How does it feel to do your first one in all-English?
04:46 Actually, I'm not good at English. I usually practice with English songs and pop songs.
04:53 I like pop songs and R&B style. So, it was more comfortable.
04:59 Now I want to know what your favorite pop song is.
05:03 Actually, my pop star is The Weeknd.
05:07 If you listen to his singing style, you can see where he gets his inspiration.
05:12 Recently, I used to listen to The Weeknd's Sacrifice remix version.
05:19 This makes me energetic and the rhythm is pretty exciting.
05:24 And of course, you have Miss Tick Tock herself, Bella Poarch, on the track.
05:30 That has to be really cool. How did that come about?
05:35 It's our first ever collaboration with an artist from the States or outside of Korea.
05:42 We were so surprised when we heard that she was going to be on the song.
05:47 You know how Sweet Venom has an English version.
05:52 I feel like a lot of people who speak English are going to be able to listen to the song more easily
06:02 and enjoy the whole Sweet Venom project.
06:05 You guys have a lot of collaborations you're working with right now, which is really cool.
06:09 Let's talk about a few of them. Pokemon!
06:12 That's wild. Talk to me about this collaboration.
06:16 I feel like everyone that has a similar age as us all grew up with Pokemon.
06:23 It was such an honor for us. Every bit of it was so fun.
06:27 It was such a childhood memory.
06:31 I was a kid as well.
06:32 Having a little stand where all the Pokemon are going to go, interacting with them, is such a good memory.
06:40 I love Pikachu. They're so cute.
06:44 Pikachu is so cute.
06:46 And then, Fashion Kings. What about working with Prada?
06:50 That was so cool. Talk to me about that.
06:52 It's a pretty honor to be here in Prada.
06:55 We all wear Prada.
06:58 I've always liked Prada, so I'm proud to be working with them.
07:05 There are a lot of pretty pieces these days, so I'm enjoying wearing them.
07:09 I especially like shoes.
07:12 I think there are a lot of things that would look good on Patrick.
07:16 He said you look really good in them.
07:18 Well, I gotta go to Prada.
07:21 You guys, you said backstage the other day that you guys did some shopping.
07:26 Have you guys ever shopped together? How was shopping in LA?
07:28 We shop a lot, but we always split up into groups.
07:33 We have similar styles. Some members have similar styles and the others have different styles.
07:39 We don't go all in a group. We split up and meet at the end and share what we bought.
07:45 And then you guys have another big accomplishment, the Baby Shark movie.
07:49 Oh yeah!
07:50 What? You got Cardi B in the movie? Lance Bass from NSYNC?
08:02 This is wild. How did you even get involved? What's it been like recording and being in the process of it?
08:09 It's an honor to be in the Baby Shark movie.
08:13 It's also an honor to work with so many famous artists.
08:18 It was a little difficult for me.
08:20 We recorded the narration and we had a video call.
08:27 I didn't know what to say, so I just said "Yes, thank you."
08:32 But it was still great.
08:34 Well, I'm sure you killed it.
08:36 And now that the music is out, what's the last thing you want to say to the ENGENEs now that they have received "Orange Blood"?
08:45 The most important thing is that the song is good.
08:48 So when you hear "Sweet Bitter Love," you'll want to put it on your playlist.
08:54 I think it'll make you feel good when you hear the song.
08:59 Well, it's gonna be on everybody's playlist.
09:01 Thank you guys so much for coming. Thank you.
09:04 Thank you!
09:05 (upbeat music)
