00:16 Becky Lynch is seen as one of the most important women's wrestlers of all time in WWE.

00:22 Part of the first Women's WrestleMania main event, a constant main event level talent

00:26 who helped raise the stock of women's wrestling as a whole within the entirety of WWE.

00:31 She's a history maker and continues to blaze a trail anywhere she goes, even this week

00:36 where she appeared on Celebrity Jeopardy and made history there too where she… failed

00:42 to get a single question right.

00:45 Well, it is history, I suppose.

00:48 The first competitor to ever do that.

00:53 In regular wrestling news, it's full gear this weekend, with a whole bunch of high caliber

00:57 matches waiting to happen.

00:58 More hype was built for Hangman vs Swerve when Hangman appeared at a Revolver show last

01:02 night and attacked Swerve, a nice little continuation of their super hot feud heading into the weekend.

01:08 But aside from the matches, there's also one big announcement from Tony Khan that has

01:11 got people curious about the show, and that's this announcement of a major signing to the

01:16 company, a name that all AEW fans respect, one of the best wrestlers in the world, etc.

01:22 They will be officially signing their contract at Full Gear, which raises the question…

01:27 who could it be?

01:28 It most likely won't be a name like Will Ospreay, considering he's under contract

01:31 with New Japan until early next year.

01:33 It won't be anyone from the latest batch of WWE releases like Dolph Ziggler for example,

01:38 as they would still be under their 90 day non-compete clause, assuming it actually is

01:42 90 days and they haven't made any errors with any contracts like a Malakai Black situation.

01:47 So who could it be?

01:49 Most fans' speculation pointed towards one of the more obvious choices in Mercedes Monáe,

01:54 considering there's been reported interest in her for months from AEW's side, and she

01:58 was in the crowd at AEW's All In London show.

02:01 But the one question mark remained over her, which is her ongoing ankle injury.

02:05 She'd still been seen wearing an ankle boot recently, so unless there's been a major

02:10 change in her recovery status, that might still be an issue.

02:13 Though presumably it wouldn't stop her from signing, she just wouldn't be able to wrestle

02:16 for a bit.

02:17 She's also recently said that fans can expect to see her back in some wrestling company

02:21 in 2024, and...nope, it's still 2023.

02:26 Fightful Select has added some more info on Mercedes, and it doesn't look likely that

02:30 she'll be the one debuting on Saturday.

02:32 AEW talent themselves were reportedly speculating on who this mystery signing could be, and

02:37 despite reports of Monáe and AEW working together as far back as August, the plan isn't

02:42 to announce her this weekend at AEW Full Gear.

02:46 Fightful Talent reportedly stated that when asked, it was indicated that Full Gear's

02:50 announcement won't be Monáe.

02:52 There are still reportedly plans for Monáe to work with AEW, it's just that the timeline

02:56 isn't firm right now.

02:57 So who do you think this mystery signing is?

03:00 I genuinely have no idea.

03:02 It's either going to be someone none of us see coming and we all lose our collective

03:06 minds or someone that is like, an okay signing that's been overhyped.

03:10 I don't think we've ever seen that one before in AEW have we?

04:52 later we have the ever anticipated Survivor Series, and that anticipation is absolutely

04:57 not attributed to a potential CM Punk return.

04:59 Nope, not one bit of it, because he's not coming back.

05:04 The Survivor Series is next on WWE's PLE palette, it is the final main roster PLE

05:08 of 2023 after all, so I'd say it's about time we get some big news on what's coming

05:12 in 2024, and boy howdy, did we ever get that yesterday.

05:16 As was much rumoured beforehand, WWE went and made it official, as the company announced

05:21 that Backlash 2024 will take place in France on May 4th.

05:26 This historic first ever French PLE follows the announcement just a few weeks ago that

05:30 WWE's first ever German PLE, Bash in Berlin, will be taking place next August, and with

05:36 WWE also travelling over to Australia for February's Elimination Chamber, it's safe

05:40 to say they're getting around a bit in 2024.

05:43 Good, more of this please.

05:45 Interestingly enough however, Backlash 2024 will not take place in Paris as was initially

05:50 reported, instead taking place at the LDLC Arena in...Leon Dessin?

05:56 Instead.

05:57 Not only that, but the preceding night's SmackDown will also take place in the same

06:01 venue, and in turn make its own history becoming the first blue brand show to take place in

06:05 the land of Le Bleu.

06:07 Le Bleu brand.

06:09 While this is great news, why not continue the trend of Clash at the Castle and Bash

06:12 in Berlin by giving it a special themed name, rather than like, Backlash in France.

06:24 One star who's anticipated to potentially play a major role in these European WWE PLE

06:29 escapades is Guther, who I'm not sure you're aware, is also European.

06:34 While Guther will no doubt be beloved in Germany and France, will he be walking into Bash in

06:38 Berlin and Backlash as WWE World Heavyweight Champion or even dare I say, Undisputed Universal

06:44 Champion?

06:45 Well if it's up to the man himself, yes, he will, as the Ring General has publicly

06:50 declared that he is ready for that next step.

06:52 Speaking to WrestlingNews.co's Steve Fall, Guther spoke of his run as Intercontinental

06:56 Champion, shooting down the notion that his title was below that of Roman Reigns or Seth

07:01 Rollins' belt, however did also admit that he's ready for a run at either champion.

07:04 The Intercontinental Champion, which is the number two title on Raw, obviously I give

07:09 it my best and I do everything I can to make it feel like the number one, but I think there's

07:12 a ranking system and everything for a reason.

07:15 I think it's quite obvious that I outgrew the Intercontinental Championship already,

07:18 I am ready to make that next step.

07:21 I mean he could just win the Rumble, right?

07:22 He's gonna win the Rumble, right?

07:25 Seth vs. Guther at Mania?

07:27 Or Guther vs. Sami Zayn who's gonna beat Seth for the belt at Mania?

07:32 I like to see that.

07:33 While that may be the future of WWE's IEC champ, what of the man who recently lost his

07:37 US title, Rey Mysterio?

07:39 Now it's safe to say it's been a rough few weeks for Rey Rey, losing his US title

07:43 to Logan Paul, almost landing on his head in said match, and then getting turned on

07:47 by his real son Santos Escobar in SmackDown a week later.

07:51 With Escobar writing Mysterio off TV so he can go and get real life knee surgery, the

07:55 LWO crew are going to have to carry the feud without Mr. 619.

07:59 But what happens when Rey comes back?

08:02 According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the plan may well involve - now cover

08:06 your ears if you happen to be any Rey Mysterios that are watching this video - more LWO betrayal.

08:13 Meltzer states that WWE's idea is to have the forgotten members of the LWO, Cruz Del

08:17 Toro and Joaquin Wilde, also turn on Rey, whilst Carlito sticks by the Hall of Famer's

08:23 side.

08:24 This would nicely set up a little LWO Civil War feud, and reunite Legado del Fantasma.

08:28 However, it's unclear if they will return to using this name, and importantly, their

08:32 banger entrance music.

08:34 What's also not clear to Meltzer is what side Zelina Vega will choose in this situation,

08:38 I guess we'll have to wait and see.

08:40 Now outside of all the usual AEW and WWE news, there's been a lot of noise surrounding

08:45 the NWA.

08:47 Just a month ago, there was a whole lot of optimism for the promotion, with a resurgence

08:51 of such being speculated.

08:52 This was mainly down to NWA President Billy Corgan talking up negotiations for a big upcoming

08:57 TV deal with a Top 20 network, while appearing on Busted Open Radio.

09:02 This was later revealed by House of Wrestling to be CW.

09:05 However, in a shock twist, just weeks later, CW was announced to have reached a five year

09:09 agreement to air WWE's NXT from October 2024.

09:14 The reason for negotiations between CW and NWA being halted was reportedly due to a controversial

09:19 segment from the Samayne PPV on October 28th, which saw a party scene featuring cocaine

09:24 usage.

09:25 This was a segment that Corgan reportedly pushed to air, with reports of talent frustration

09:29 afterwards, specifically with Corgan for this and other reasons including putting talent

09:34 through "tests" of loyalty to him and the NWA.

09:38 Now in a new update once again from House of Wrestling, it seems as if things are set

09:42 to go from bad to worse for the NWA.

09:45 According to the new report, NWA are expected to make talent, roster and production cuts

09:50 soon.

09:51 A source told House of Wrestling that these cuts will come "at every corner of the company",

09:55 an example of which was given for the promotion's hair and makeup department, whose budget is

09:59 set to get cut "roughly in half".

10:02 This week's NWA power tapings are also set to be run with a bare bones crew, with the

10:07 exceptions being Mike Knox and Violent J, the latter of which reportedly flies himself

10:12 in and works for free.

10:14 As for the talent cuts, House of Wrestling expects these to take place in early 2024,

10:18 following the promotion's scheduled January tapings.

10:21 There is no indication of how many cuts will be made, however it was said that all talent

10:25 will be under review with their benefits to the company weighed.

10:28 It's worth noting that several NWA contracts will be up for renegotiation in early 2024

10:33 anyway as June is being reported as the expiration date.

10:36 As well as the talent cuts, NWA will reportedly be cutting back on travel too, with talent

10:41 no longer being flown in the day before shows to avoid paying extra hotel costs.

10:46 Unlike even WWE, NWA has been footing the bill for both flight and hotels, which is

10:51 considered to be an attractive part of working for the promotion for talent.

10:55 The report does specify however that this will still be done for the night of events,

10:59 just not the night before.

11:00 The reason for the cuts reportedly largely comes down to the fact that Corgan has been

11:04 paying out of pocket for NWA for several years, with little to no sponsorship money coming

11:10 in to help alleviate the financial burden.
