A 70ft high wartime watchtower - complete with a gun turret - which was converted into a seven-storey home is up for sale for £500,000.
The iconic Grade II listed Tynemouth Watchtower, near Newcastle, was built in 1916 as a military lookout post.
Gun turrets were added and the watchtower was called into action again in 1939 to protect the North East coast from a feared Nazi naval invasion.
Owned originally by the War Office, the 70ft tower is one of the tallest of its kind and was extensively used during World War Two.

00:00 Today I'm at one of the most unique residential properties in the country
00:04 and over a century since it was built I'm going to show you around.
00:07 Welcome to the Tynemouth Watchtower.
00:10 To protect our land during the First World War,
00:16 the War Office constructed two large guns to protect the Tyne with a seven-story command tower.
00:21 The tower was used again during World War II as a lookout
00:25 and in 1967 the Ministry of Defence sold it.
00:28 Made of reinforced concrete, this historic Grade II listed building
00:32 has phenomenal uninterrupted views out over Tynemouth Castle and all the way up to the Cheviots.
00:38 The unique shape of this property is instantly recognisable with a curved front and straight back
00:43 blending Art Deco inspired design with Brutalist architecture.
00:47 The sixth story would have been the original lookout to see and it is now the living room.
00:51 On every level down there's five additional rooms,
00:54 each round in shape thanks to the curve of the property.
00:57 There's three bedrooms, a bathroom and on the ground floor a fitted kitchen.
01:02 Like some of you, many of my family were involved in the World Wars
01:07 and I'm proud today to list such a unique property
01:10 that's a special part of British North East history.
01:13 I'm Michael Mortimer and I hope you've enjoyed the tour and of course the view.
01:17 Until next time.
01:19 you
01:20 Until next time.
