00:00 In the midst of China's continued harassment of the West Philippine Sea,

00:04 the Philippines claims that it's alliance with other countries is strong.

00:08 We discussed this in the Mangahas interviews.

00:11 We have a lot of claimants in that area.

00:17 And we also have a lot of Western powers that are interested.

00:21 In reality, it's China against these Western powers.

00:24 And they say that the Philippines and other claimants are like pawns.

00:29 In chess, these superpowers are just players.

00:33 What do you think?

00:34 It was not against the United States.

00:35 It was not against any other country.

00:37 It was against China.

00:39 So our issue is against China, not with the US.

00:43 Why are we allying with the US?

00:46 We are doing so...

00:46 To provoke China.

00:48 And by doing so, provoking China.

00:50 Correct.

00:51 We are doing so because the United States and the Philippines,

00:55 their interests have aligned, have intersected.

00:58 The interest of the Philippines is for our fishermen,

01:03 the natural resources, including oil perhaps,

01:07 and the blue economy that could be the game changer

01:10 for the future generations of Filipinos.

01:14 The interest of America is freedom of navigation,

01:18 global trade, and all of that.

01:20 It just so happened that the two intersect.

01:23 And the interests of the United States and the Philippines

01:26 are directly opposed to the interests of China,

01:30 which seeks to take control of the entire South China Sea.
