'Knock At The Cabin’s' Rupert Grint On What He Likes About Playing Unlikable Characters

  • last year
Roughly 20 years ago, actor Rupert Grint’s career was started as Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter movies. Much like his co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, his career after those movies would give him a wide range of roles to tackle, and in various mediums. Thanks to his work with director M. Night Shyamalan and the movie Knock at the Cabin, Grint has been able to really dig into playing unlikable characters.

00:00 - What's also been really interesting is,
00:02 besides Julian from Servant,
00:04 Redmond is another case of unlikable with caveats,
00:08 and it's just really fun to see you dig into that.
00:11 Has that been a conscious choice for you?
00:13 Is that something you're pursuing,
00:14 or is that just kind of something
00:15 that's landed on your lap and you're just running with it?
00:18 - Yeah, I think the latter, yeah.
00:20 It's kind of a lay that I felt I kind of,
00:22 I kind of empathize with these characters in a way
00:25 that helps, I mean, with Redmond as well,
00:28 he's, on paper, he's someone that's just
00:32 cannot really understand,
00:33 and it's a person that I feel like I kind of know
00:36 in kind of today's times,
00:37 he's this kind of angry guy who
00:39 has got a very kind of shady past.
