00:00 Welcome to the WrestleTalk News, I'm Pete Quinnell.
00:09 Ever since NXT moved off Wednesday nights to Tuesdays, the week-to-week tribalism among
00:13 the wrestling community seems to have died down a bit, only flaring up when there's
00:17 a WWE PLE going up against an episode of Collision or CM Punk's in the headlines.
00:21 But you can always rely on Michael Cole to bring it up again as he took a cheeky little
00:25 dig at AEW on Raw commentary last night, which took place from the Capital One Center in
00:29 Washington DC.
00:30 Cole, during Cody Royter's entrance on the show, explained the significance of the arena
00:34 to Cody's career, remarking that the building was the same one where Cody had his first
00:39 match back on SmackDown.
00:40 But that's not all he's done there, because according to Cole, he also "did some other
00:44 stuff in the building as well".
00:46 Which I'm sure is true regardless of any other history, but the "other stuff" Cole
00:51 is referring to here is most likely making history with AEW, as the arena hosted the
00:56 very first episode of AEW Dynamite in 2019, where Cody Rhodes faced Sami Guevara.
01:01 But yes, "other stuff" will suffice.
01:04 And on the subject of Sami Guevara, it seems things aren't going too great with his recovery,
01:09 as he's not part of the Callis Family line-up in the big Street Fight match on Dynamite
01:13 tomorrow night, instead being replaced by Brian Cage.
01:16 The match is currently listed as Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, Chris Jericho and Paul Wight,
01:20 The Golden Lovers and Jericho, what a weird timeline we're in, vs the Don Callis Family
01:24 of Kanosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher and Powerhouse Hobbs, with their pal from the Mogul Embassy
01:28 Brian Cage.
01:29 Fightful Select confirmed that this wasn't in fact the original plan, and the Brian Cage
01:33 inclusion was done to cover up for Sami's absence.
01:36 Sami has been suffering from a concussion since WrestleDream on October 1st, and it
01:40 seems he's not quite ready yet to return to the ring.
01:42 WrestleTalk would like to wish him the best in his recovery.
01:45 And speaking of recoveries from injuries, it seems we might not be waiting much longer
01:48 to get Randy Orton back on our screens.
01:50 There are pretty big spoilers for upcoming WWE shows ahead, so skip ahead to Luke's
01:54 Raw review if you don't want to know.
01:56 So here is how it stands right now.
02:00 It had previously been reported that WWE would be making the Men's War Games match a 5-on-5
02:04 match, and as the ending of last night's Raw made pretty clear, Drew McIntyre is going
02:09 to be added to the Judgment Day team.
02:11 Meanwhile, the plan according to Fightful Select is for Randy Orton to be added to the
02:15 Babyface team, which WWE are reportedly planning to announce ahead of the PLE to avoid CM Punk.
02:20 Which, if I'm going to take an educated guess here, I think that will be on next week's
02:25 episode of Raw, considering that's the go-home show for Raw.
02:29 However, there had been a rumour floating around on social media lately, courtesy of
02:32 some less than reputable news outlets, that was suggesting that following Orton's return,
02:37 he was being planned to win a major championship.
02:39 However, Fightful Select gave a resounding no to those rumours, saying that the topic
02:43 hadn't even been broached in WWE, so don't believe it.
02:47 However, he is coming back for War Games, and that makes me very happy.
02:50 Yay for us.
02:52 Now over to Luke.
02:53 Do you have plans to watch Survivor Series?
02:56 Well why not come and watch WWE Survivor Series live and in person with the WrestleTalk team
03:02 with over 100 other wrestling fans along with a live version of our parts-funded board game
03:08 series No Holds Bored at the Long Arm Pub & Brewery in London.
03:13 Not only will we be watching Survivor Series together, but we'll be doing our live reactions
03:17 to the show from the pub, which means you will have the chance to be on camera and part
03:22 of the WrestleTalk Live experience.
03:24 This is the best way to watch wrestling, pay-per-views and tickets are available right now.
03:29 Get your tickets today and we'll see you there to be part of moments like this.
03:44 Thank you Pete, it's now time for my review of Monday Night Raw - aka the week before
03:48 the go-home week of Survivor Series… week edition of Monday Night Raw - in about 5 minutes.
03:54 The show opened with a big promo segment featuring all 8 men - currently 8 men - who will be
03:59 in this year's Men's War Games match.
04:02 Cody Rhodes brought out his team, and Judgment Day came out to run them down.
04:06 They set up some tensions between Cody and Seth Rollins, teasing a future world title
04:10 shot perhaps, but the big moment of the segment was Damian Priest being goaded into shouting
04:15 that he is the real leader of Judgment Day.
04:19 Later in the show he apologised to his team for saying that, and officially brought J.D.
04:23 McDonough into the fold as if to appease his other team-mates, but I get the feeling that
04:28 this tension could lead to a split of the group ahead of WrestleMania.
04:32 The segment also set up a tag match between Seth and Sami Zayn, taking on Dominic Mysterio
04:36 and J.D. McDonough, which ended in a lame brawl DQ when the rest of Judgment Day attacked.
04:41 Cody and Jey Uso both ran back down for some more brawling action, with the producers even
04:45 getting involved - which included a PT Williams spotting, so this episode gets 5 out of 5.
04:50 And it was all done to give you the stips for tonight's main event tag title match.
04:55 Everyone currently involved in the War Games match who isn't in the tag title match will
05:01 be barred from the building.
05:03 That also includes Rhea Ripley.
05:04 A very good bit of foreshadowing for the main event heel turn.
05:09 Also I do think we now have enough producers in these segments that we could have Team
05:13 Pearce at Survivor Series, so who do I need to speak to to make that official?
05:17 Rhea Ripley stayed in the ring to have a pop at Adam Pearce, which brought out Zoey Stark
05:20 to cut a stilted promo about beating Rhea at Survivor Series.
05:24 I do not fancy your chances, mate.
05:27 Shinsuke Nakamura cut a promo looking for his next target, CM Punk is the devil confirmed,
05:31 and then he beat Otis of Alpha Academy in a great little match.
05:34 It put over Otis Strong, and made Nakamura look great in the process for chopping down
05:39 The Big Tree.
05:40 Nakamura attacked Chad Gable afterwards to set up a match with him for next week.
05:43 Seth shook hands with Drew McIntyre backstage who said that he will now work his arse off
05:48 to get back into the title picture - more on that later - and Tegan Nox beat Piper Niven
05:53 in a very, very heatless match.
05:55 The Miz did some bad comedy backstage, and this was used as a backdrop to set up a future
05:59 meaty match feud between Ivar and Bronson Reed.
06:03 Speaking of heatless, Tommaso Ciampa and Ludwig Kaiser did their best to get the crowd into
06:07 their match and sort of succeeded.
06:10 But look, Triple H is playing the long game here.
06:13 Wisely I would argue.
06:15 DIY, Tegan Nox, Piper Niven, Ludwig Kaiser and later the Xylion Indi Hartwell are not
06:21 over right now.
06:24 But when WWE comes back into Washington, they will be that little bit more over because
06:29 they'll be featured regularly on TV.
06:31 And so the next time they come back after that time, they will, in theory, be over.
06:37 It is a far cry from the days of the Vince McMahon three week push.
06:41 Despite getting ejected from ringside, Giovanni Vinci came down to attack Johnny Gargano to
06:45 give Kaiser a roll-up win.
06:46 Another lame finish, and it led to a segment later in the show where Gunther congratulated
06:51 Vinci - not Kaiser - for getting the win.
06:54 Stop trying to break this team up.
06:57 Gunther then teased something with…
06:59 Jinder's Lot?
07:01 Wait, we're not setting up Jinder Mall for Gunther are we?
07:06 Not Jinder!
07:07 Xyli knocked out Indi Hartwell in a not all that great match using a different kick.
07:11 I like that they're trying to get over that she can knock you out with different moves,
07:15 and Becky Lynch came out to say they're going to have a match next week.
07:18 This doesn't feel like a big elevation for Xyli, it's more like wasting Becky's time.
07:22 All the Raw Women stood in a row, and this set up Nia Jax vs. Raquel Rodriguez for next
07:27 week.
07:28 Miz beat Ivar with his feet on the ropes after several distractions from Bronson Reed who
07:31 attacked Ivar after the match.
07:33 This did give Miz a good win, and cheating will set up some very interesting stakes for
07:37 the Gunther match, but I think Miz should be the focus of these segments as he's going
07:42 for the IT title at the PPV.
07:44 That said, I'm well into the idea of an Ivar vs. Reed match.
07:48 The Creed Brothers tried to recruit Alpha Academy into their fold and set their sights
07:52 on the tag titles, and the mentioning of tag titles summoned The New Day to say they also
07:57 wanted that gold.
07:58 They also set up Ivy Nile and Maxine Dupree as future tag challengers for the Women's
08:02 Tag Titles, and Akira Tozawa did his little dance.
08:04 I am nearly 40 years old.
08:08 But look, I'm not saying we're better than Alpha Academy at doing TikTok trends, but
08:15 we clearly are.
08:18 We're not as good as the TNA Knockout, shoutout to them by the way.
08:23 But we're definitely better than Chad and Co.
08:26 Should check out the video in full on our Instagram and TikToks.
08:31 And the main event saw Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso unsuccessfully challenge for the tag titles
08:35 against Judgment Day in a very heated and action-packed match.
08:38 Everyone's chemistry was great, and crikey it should be I've seen them wrestle a hundred
08:42 times on Raw alone.
08:44 And the Co-1D nearfall was rather great.
08:47 But it was Drew McIntyre who was the difference maker.
08:50 He's not part of the War Games match, so he wasn't barred from the building, and
08:54 he laid out Jey with the Claymore to allow Judgment Day to retain.
08:58 Rear Ripley then shook Drew's hand on the ramp, seemingly adding him to their ranks
09:03 for War Games.
09:04 The heel turn is complete.
09:06 In a post-match promo, Cody and Jey said they have a friend who can be their backup.
09:11 CM Punk indeed return confirmed.
09:14 And that was this week's show, and it was… well, it was the penultimate show before the
09:17 actual penultimate show before Survivor Series.
09:20 Good action, not so many great finishes and some good drama added to the War Games match.
09:24 It's still better than the Vince era, and this week's Raw is 3 out of 5.
09:28 Do you like explosive revelations?
09:30 Well we're counting down the seven biggest explosive revelations from our latest book
09:34 Wrestling Unmasked which you can check out by clicking the video on screen right now.
