04:47 Dio is among the most arrogant and powerful antagonists out there.
04:51 The entire Stardust Crusaders arc has been building up the entire time to an epic confrontation
04:57 with the vampire.
04:59 And the first to encounter him is Jean-Pierre Polnareff.
05:02 Dio offers him the opportunity to join him if he'll step down a few stairs.
05:12 Instead, Polnareff claims he's not afraid and climbs them.
05:18 Or at least, he thinks he does.
05:20 Polnareff suddenly finds himself a few steps down.
05:32 He tries this repeatedly, only for the same result.
05:36 We later learn that Dio can stop time, so instead of killing Polnareff, which he could
05:40 easily do, Dio decides to mess with him, the absolute troll.
05:55 The Z-Fighters are all superhumanly powerful to varying degrees.
05:59 So, when the time comes for them all to test their strength against a punching machine
06:03 at the World Martial Arts Tournament, they all have to hold back.
06:19 They understand that not holding back would destroy the machine, and inconvenience the
06:24 other contestants and the staff.
06:26 Even then, it's difficult for them.
06:28 However, Vegeta is full of pride and refuses to participate in the shared ruse.
06:34 Instead, he punches the machine so hard, it's flung across the arena and destroyed.
06:51 The Z-Fighters know how strong he is, but Vegeta needs everyone to know.
