00:00 Taylor Swift. She's one of the world's biggest pop stars and now Taiwanese fans of the US
00:06 singer can see their favorite star on the big screen. Swift has brought her Eras Tour
00:11 concert film to audiences here and over 90 countries worldwide.
00:16 "3, 2, 1"
00:19 Swift has never performed in Taiwan and her closest live performances are in Japan and
00:37 Singapore next year. That's why one Taiwanese fan club held a watch party to give fans here
00:43 the real Taylor Swift concert experience or at least as close as they can get.
00:47 I love the red carpet and the premier thing. So I think it would be fun to hold an event
00:54 like this so the fans in Taiwan can have the experience of what it's like to be at a Taylor
01:00 Swift concert. Everyone can scream and just dance and whatever they want.
01:11 These "Swifties" as the singer's fans are known, spent days making friendship bracelets
01:16 to exchange at the event. And of course there were the outfits, representing different eras
01:21 of Swift's music.
01:40 Fans were encouraged to dance during the film. At the start, many stayed in their seats as
01:45 they sang along, typical of many pop concerts in Taiwan. But a few songs in, something changed.
01:50 It was completely different. The first time I was at another cinema and everyone was like
01:57 quiet. They just sit there and watch it just like other normal movies. I thought, "Oh my
02:02 gosh, I want to sing but no one's singing. What should I do?" So this time it's just amazing.
02:09 The founder of artist promoter Taiwanese Waves says concert goers in Taiwan have their own
02:19 set of unspoken rules to show respect to artists.
02:22 I tend to find an audience that's more reserved in a way. So I think in general people are
02:28 just very into the music, into the concert but in a very intense way. But I do think
02:35 younger generation now, they're more open to be active and be loud at shows. I think
02:42 from my observation, they have the courage to dance along and sing loud at shows.
02:50 But there are no rules when you show up at a Taylor Swift viewing party like this, except
02:53 to have fun and sing your heart out. And fans here are more than happy to do just that.
02:58 Whether it's the power of Swift stardom or a generational change, to these fans it doesn't
03:03 really matter. After all, they'll hold on to the memories from this night for years
03:07 to come. Luffy Lee and Tiffany Wong in Taipei for Taiwan Plus.
