00:00 Leeds were victorious at the King Power Stadium on Friday night.
00:06 Quite the statement victory that was, beating top of the table Leicester,
00:10 even though Leeds are a good 10 or so points, or were at that point, behind them.
00:15 Looking at that win, what does it say to the rest of the Championship,
00:19 in terms of Leeds being able to catch the top two, who have created this little barrier for themselves?
00:24 Yeah, definitely. It's a big statement of intent, and I think what it does tell you is that Leeds
00:29 are definitely one of the best sides. It's a big thing to say, but if not the best side in the
00:33 division, now obviously people will look at that and think, well, how can you say that when Leicester
00:37 are still clear and Ipswich are clear of them? But I'm talking about the here and now, really,
00:41 and where we're at at this stage of the season, in terms of Leeds had a bit of a slow start,
00:46 and that was no surprise whatsoever. Obviously, Daniel Farker, when he came in, said it would be
00:49 a difficult start, with the huge transition of players going out. I mean, very unsettling. They
00:53 did well to almost keep it together, as they did, but obviously it was slow start to the season,
00:58 and now they're just catching up. Ultimately, now the question mark really is, have Ipswich and
01:03 Leicester got too much of a buffer on Leeds? Now, there's loads of things you can say about that.
01:07 The first thing to say is at the stage of the season, there's only 15 games in with 31 games
01:11 to go. So that tells you what you need to know. There's plenty of time to make up that gap.
01:15 Secondly, is you've got to look at the fixtures. The fact is that Leeds have been to Leicester
01:19 and they've been to Ipswich and beat both of them away from home. They've got to play both of them
01:23 at Ellon Road, and also on top of that, Leicester and Ipswich have to play each other twice. So,
01:27 obviously, somewhere along the lines, those four games all offer opportunities.
01:30 One game left before the next international break and the final international break of the year.
01:35 That's a fixture against Plymouth or Guile. Interesting one. They had a 3-3 draw against
01:43 Middlesbrough at the weekend, certainly proved their worth. Middlesbrough, a good side,
01:49 doing very well under Michael Carrick, and they were able to come back in that game a good couple
01:52 of times. Is this a little test for Leeds? You've had the big statement win against Leicester,
01:59 but this is a game where you've got to go into it and not expect to win, but you should really
02:04 be coming out with the three points. Yes, 100 per cent hit the nail on the head.
02:07 That's the thing, isn't it? It's obviously fantastic going to Leicester and getting a win
02:10 there and a massive statement, but if you can't then back it up by taking three points in the
02:15 games you should win, then that's the whole thing. That's what it's about. It is a game
02:21 Leeds should win, but equally it's not one I don't think is going to be a walk in the park
02:25 against Huddersfield. Ellen Road was basically over by half-time and obviously everybody will
02:28 hope that's the case again this weekend. You're quite right, they had a very good result at the
02:32 weekend against Borough, a Borough side who started awful, but to all extents and purposes
02:37 looked like they could well end up in the playoffs the way they're going.
02:40 In the FA Cup, Bradford City were beaten 2-1 at home by Wycombe Wanderers. To dump Bradford
02:45 out of the competition, they returned to league action this weekend at home to Barrow.
02:50 York drew 0-0 with Chester in the FA Cup and will require a replay. Before that, they will face AFC
02:56 Fylde away in the National League in something of a relegation battle towards the bottom of the table.
